Hey guys, My doctor has recommended that in a month or two, I begin taking NDF Plus to get started with chelation. Knowing that I like to research products before trying them, he told me about this one in advance so I can research it. So the main ingredients are colloidal chlorella and cilantro, along with fulvic acid, and a liver/drainage support blend. He claims that this is the one of the best chelators on the market, and while expensive, it lasts a long time and is well worth it. Here is a link to a page that discusses this product http://www.healingedge.net/store/more_bio_ndfplus.htmlIt sounds like a great product to me, but there is one thing that worries me: One of its main ingredients is cilantro, which is known to cross the blood brain barrier....and I've read that is something you don't want to do early on in your treatment.... that website says this "Crosses the blood-brain barrier within 5-113 minutes." So 2 questions: 1) has anyone ever used this product before, or heard anything about it? 2) can anyone fill me in on the cilantro and blood-brain barrier debate? some background: I had all of my amalgams removed over this past summer (july). I took chlorella for 2-3 weeks prior to removal, then for about 1-2 months post-removal. I also chewed EDTA gum, which is very mild, and did a couple of EDTA baths. So I never really got into chelation, I did more of a mild detox just around the time of my amalgam removal so I could handle the mercury released during the procedure. Because I felt no better, and had severe lack of energy problems, my doctor decided to put a hold on any intensive chelation until we had worked on strengthening my other systems, such as my adrenal and thyroid. I'm supplementing for those, and don't feel much better. Anyway, just thought I would give my background of this treatment, so you know where I am at with detox/chelation. I'm nervous of doing any chelation that crosses the blood-brain barrier so early in my treatment. What do you guys think? Maybe it is safe....I just know I've read cautions before.....but I don't recall the source, so it may not have been reliable. If anyone has any experience with this product or info for me on my debate, please let me know! Thanks!! ~Tia

Hey all,
Even if no one as tried the NDF Plus, can anyone tell me about using cilantro early in chelation treatment? I know that it is a powerful chelator, and I definitely like the fact that it is all-natural, but I am worried because it crosses the blood brain barrier. And while I hear that is good to have happen at some point in your treatment, I've heard from some people that it's not something you want early on in treatment.
So before I try this product, I would really like to get informed about chelators that cross the blood brain barrier, and whether or not it is advisable to use chelators in this category early in treatment. I think I've heard people warn against ALA early in treatment due to the very reason of crossing the blood brain barrier....
Any feedback would be apprecitated. Thanks!

Hi, I would personally not advise NDF. Anything containing chlorella/cilantro mobilises mercury and in doing this, can cause mercury to go into the brain even without the direct help from a brain chelating agent, because mercury itself can easily cross into the brain (it does not easily come back out).
but on top of that, it contains cilantro which itself can cross into the brain and may increase that risk even further directly.
I've heard bad reports on NDF, but some do ok on it. Not sure what to tell you, as everybody is different but again, it serves mostly to mobilise mercury rather than chelate it safely. Depends on how well your body can excrete that mobilised mercury. You can repoison yourself very easily by using any mercury mobilisers, as they can just move it everywhere, into the gut, liver and brain.
I was warned about NDF more than once and one lady had a friend who is almost bed ridden two years after using the stuff. Not sure what to think.
Personally, just because it's got natural ingredients, does not mean it's safe. The stuff itself might be fine, but you're dealing with mercury here, so how mercury is moved is the problem. If it is moved erractically, it can damage.
Personally, i would opt for using the safer Andy Cutler protocol, but that is up to the person.

Thanks for your reply - I appreciate your honest response. I know that chlorella does not just mobilize mercury, but it also chelates it out of your system. According to my doctor, the issue with chlorella is that it needs to be taken in a large enough dose in order to do both of those things. He says that a few pills simply mobilizes the mercury, which is why people who take low doses of chlorella often feel crappy. But if you double that low dose (and use a dose like Dr. Mercola recommends), then the first few pills mobilize the mercury, and the last few bind to them and escort them out of your body. At least, that is how my doctor explains it. And since i've taken chlorella without problems, I feel ok with that.
But I do hear your warnings on the blood brain barrier and cilantro....I guess I plan on doing more research on it, talking to my doctor about what I find, and then deciding for sure.
I have Andy Culter's book, so I would like to read through that over Christmas and see how I feel about his protocol. I know it comes highly recommended. From some of what I skimmed through, there were a number of things I didn't quite agree with, such as his recommendations for various conditions that required a whole lot of pharmaceuticals. I go the natural route whenever possible, because the majority of pharmaceuticals are "band-aid" fixes in my eyes that don't get to the root of the problem. I totally agree with what you said about being natural doesn't mean safe. Very true. Chlorella and cilantro are tough chelators, and they are nothing to mess with. That's why I always try to do a bunch of research before trying out anything, even if it is something that my doctor recommended. Anyway, the things I disagreed with were more for his recommendations for related illnesses, not for his chelation protocol. So I look forward to reading more about that. Luckily, my doctor is good about giving me time to research these products after he recommends them, make up my own mind, and then go with an alternative plan if that is what I feel comfortable with. Quite a far cry from mainstream doctors!
Never simple answers to this mess, is there? It's so frustrating that so much is trial and error...especially when the errors can be so damaging.
Thanks again for your feedback - I will keep that in mind as I continue my research.
Take care, ~Tia

HI Tia, you're welcome. It is hard to know what to do and what's best for ourselves. HOpefully Andy's book may at least give another side to it and more options.
I agree, I think in some of his book is a little overwhelming and confusing with all the suggestions/supplements he advocates a person takes and I personally don't think it's a good thing to overload a person, as the gut and liver have to handle all that too. What he says is that a person can indeed take something to hold themselves together (even though it is not permanent healing) WHILST they chelate and finally get permanently well to where they no longer need the bandaid solutions/helps along the way.
I took chlorella in large doses and vomited all night from it. Never again. I can see what you're doctor is saying though, because yes, the little doses cause more movement of mercury and not enough absorption. I just down that it's a true blue chelator at any amount, but who am I? he's the doc.
I just find Andy's protocol make sthe most sense and causes the least reactions if followed to the letter. If not, the risks increase significantly (I've tried messing around and doing it my own way and I've been BADLY injured more than once). Though yes I have other health issues contributing to my problems, so this might be why.
My only criticism of his protocol is his idea that the dose of 50 mg of DMSA is small. It is NOT small for many of us and indeed most people have to start on half that or even less.
So in some respects it is good to get the feedback from those who have used his protocol, and the more the better so you get a good idea of what is the best way to do it and Andy's protocol is good but I feel it should be moderated dose wise (at least until a person is sure they can handle the 50 mg dose) He's got all the educated knowledge and science behind it, and yes he's healed himself, but he does not seem to take enough caution with some people on the dosage side of things.
His idea of using the DMSA every 4 hours is very sound and scientific when you consider the nature of mercury and this is why he uses that protocol. For any other type of detox, it woudl be different, but with mercury he discovered that it must be detoxed in a specific manner to avoid seriously worsening a person unnecessarily.
Oh yeah there is so much trial and error and contradictions going on, that half the time we dont' know if we're coming or going. Whatever you decide to try, I just hope that it produces results and works and there is no sure thing. Even Andy Cutler's protocol isn't going to be ideal for everyone and I've tried many protocols believe me and I've been ok sometimes on one and then it hurt me another time. His seemed ok, but not always easy either. IT depends too on whether you have other issues going on at the sametime, which can also hinder your ability to respond to chelation and heighten your tendency to react severely (possibly long term).
If your problem is "just" mercury, you may find you can get away with trying things and any bad reactions may subside prettyquick. Someone else like me, doesn't have that luxury (I used to get away with it once though). But now I have many problems like candida, virus, jawbone infections etc, which impact all of this profoundly.
anyway sorry to bleat on here. Best wishes!
