Thank you everyone for your understanding and support on this.

Yes Russ, I questioned myself as to the method used for determining if one has a cavity or not. My one son who is 14, he is the one I took in. Now mind you, he has never had a cavity up until a couple of years ago and he was found to have two between his teeth because he wasn't flossing.

Now, with this last visit, he all of a sudden ends up with 6 cavities! I was a bit shocked to say the least. My other son who is 9 hasn't had any.

They were a bit miffed with me also as I told them I didn't feel that x-rays were necessary as he just had them a few years ago. It was explained to me that he might even have MORE cavities if I would "allow" them to take the "necessary" x-rays to determine if there is any more cavities that they cant see with out having the x-rays taken. I don't believe in exposing him to all that radiation.

But what gets me every time when I do take my boys in for their cleaning is when I tell them absolutely no fluoride treatment. Oh my gosh - the look on their faces is priceless! It is as if I am abusing my child. They look at me as if I am doing this huge disservice to my kid.

I am all for giving these people a wake up call and a reality check. It is so frustrating because the public is so incredibly brain washed and if they would just step outside the box and get informed - maybe, by the good grace of God, the truth will be known.

So Russ, what advise can you give me on my sons supposedly 6 cavities that were found with their stainless steel poker? Do I just let it go until it becomes a pain issue with him or should I find another dentist - which I don't know what that will get me, probably the same outcome because of the medical assistance - there aren't too many at all that even accept it because they don't pay them anywhere near what they normally fetch.

Thank you, Teri
