Russ, I DO want to do what you're talking about. There are PLENTY of dentists around here that I am familiar with, and they need a good dose of reality about amalgam!!!! I would LOVE to stuff envelopes and mail letters to them! I just went to the biological dentist this week and picked up some anti-amalgam papers in the office that said to "copy and distribute". I intend on making as many copies as possible and post them on bulletin boards, and leave them anywhere that I can.
Russ, if you could organise some kind of template letter that we could send to out to the dentists I would be more than happy to do some mass mailouts here in Australia. I have a few good 'peer reviewed' journal articles but if you could list a few others that would be handy too. Thankyou.
I'm glad to see the fire in your hearts!
I have an idea. Why don't I try posting something I wrote up for our last business convention and we'll all work together to add to it and fully reference it? This will take the work-load off of any one of us and will allow us to write about just the areas we feel comfortable about. It'll be a group effort.
There is a new online system by Googe called Google Documents that allows collaboration between people for writing documents. It should work perfectly for this.
I'll post the short article I wrote up for my recent NSP convention and we can build on that. If you have any ideas, let me know. You can also insert comments into the document in red that we'll get rid of before we print it.
You just have to get a google account, which is easy and free and then you just go to this url:
Our Google Document If someone if online editing the document at the same time you are, it automatically changes in your window so you can work together... really cool.
Let's give it a try.
When the document is done and we're all finished with it, I'll print a bunch of copies and mail it to whoever wants copies and we'll send them out and see what happens.
We could even keep track of who we send to so we don't send them to the same office twice and also so others can see the work we are doing and they may want to jump on board as well.
I would love to see this go to every dental office in the U.S., U.K., and Australia, and anywhere else someone wants to help.
Let me know what you think.
Russ
By the way... I'm still learning this system myself and it may require me to put your email address into a box to allow you to view or edit the document. If you have trouble seeing it (as I suspect you will until I put your email in the box they provide), just let me know and send me a message with your email address. This applies to anyone who is interested in either editing or who wants to watch our work and just view the document.
All are welcome to participate and/or watch.
