I used to have memory issues perfectly similar to the ones you are all mentioning. I would do all the things that you've mentioned. It was utterly frustrating.
I also always had a problem with people's names. I could remember faces but could not remember their name. I was the last pick in any memory-type game or trivia board game.
Not anymore.
In 2002, about 2 years after my amalgam removal, my memory started to return so dramatically that I would talk about it almost daily with my business partner Laura.
I can now recall movie star names and other facts about their lives and I am no longer the last pick for trivia games. In fact, I've become one of the best in the groups I've played with. In fact, my memory is now better than it's ever been in my entire life, and not just a little. It's so much better that it's contributed significantly to a change in my life.
I can often look at a phone number and remember it indefinitely. When I see someones face on TV or in person, their names comes back to me instantly. It's truly like a computer database pulls up the name for me as soon as I see a face. This kind of memory was unheard of for me at any time in my life. I cannot say enough how this has improved my life and helped me to be more sociable.
Now, I do occasionally have spells where I forget simple things or forget a name I knew a few minutes ago, but that is now an exception, not the norm.
