Hi fiona... Where in scotland are u? Im in Aberdeen. There are no mercury-free / AWARE dentists here. One practice i believe is listed on some sites as 'working toward mercury-free' but i was registered there for a while, and the dentist i saw gave me The Blank Look [ ] when i told her i was looking for someone to remove my fillings.
[I had to travel to Edinburgh to have 9 amalgams removed.]
I personally would not advise getting a 'Kelmer' DMSA challenge test, as i did. Not only is it potentially dangerous [to use DMSA in *this* way], but i dont think its all that conclusive either. My GP didnt know how to interpret the result [606% increase in mercury?]
Hair analysis may be more helpful in terms of clues to mineral deficiences / abnormalities. [i hope to get one soon] I dont think its possible to quantify exactly just how much mercury is in ur system. Its effects are always changing anyway.
I think what is more important than testing specifically for Hg is getting the facts on its properties, being adequately prepared, and learning from other ppls experiences.. and this forum is a great place for that.
Anyway, u are welcome to send me a private message if u want the details of my experience so far. Hope this helps!
