Thanks for the further tips Scarlett, I'll check that out. Thank you also for the kind words! I'm very glad to hear that you have had improvements from the colon cleanse etc. Candida is a very bad thing, I underestimated how much impact it could have on a person gut and liver.

Hi Rachie, I'm no professional, but the first thing to ever do with candida is the diet. This has been my experience others find this is definitely the safer way to go. Also, believe it or not, you can cure your candida on diet alone! But if your underlining issues are not dealt with, then you'll find candida an ongoing problem that you'll constantly need to deal to with diet and possibly antifungals too. IF you fix the underlining issues, then people find they can loosen up and allow things back into their diet again as their immune system comes back to normal and doesn't have other challenges to cope with.

I cheated on my diet recently as alot of birthdays came up and I am as sick as a dog. So it's not worth cheating and trying to get back on track as it interrupts healing and just puts you back to square one pretty much. You "may' get away with it at some point occassionally, but not until you're stronger and have been on the diet for long enough.

You will definitely lose some weight, but those too skinny can also gain some weight. It tends to even out a person's weight. Skinny people can end up skinnier initially and REALLY get put off and upset, but this is often part of detox at first, part of the body simply eliminating and then later it is more able to round out as it can absorb nutrients more easily. Just as an overweight person will lose weight for the same reason.

The diet is very plain and it's hard to find any recipes, but here is a link to probably the best candida website I've ever been on - http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/candidasupport/

The owner is called "Bee" and she is very good, but she doesn't muck around. Her diet is dead on strict and she's studied this for many years. She won't even allow any grain at all on her diet, nor raw nuts, or yoghurt. So she goes a lot further. Later on she says you can allow these thing sback in, but initially she suggests eliminating anything that can upset the gut, or encourage candida at all. This includes potatoes, carrots etc. But defintely never touch sugar, milk, fruit, gluten grains, soy, yeast, or even fermented products. They all contribute to candida and make things worse.

I may have to get even stricter on my diet because I am still eating yoghurt, nuts and some non gluten grains, becuase I find hers too restrictive and difficult to stick to. But I may have no choice.

Antifungals are not advised at first, even if you don't have mercury. They can kill too much yeast on contact and can make a person far too ill by overloading their system with yeast toxins. Diet alone can cause enough yeast die off by itself, without adding antifungals to it. antifungals used too early on, can really cause problems due to far too much yeast being killed off at once and yeah, if any of the yeast happens to contain any heavy metals, they too will be released back into the body from the yeast being popped open from antifungals and will make a person feel repoisoned.

So they can be risky, but they can also be very helpful if a person finds they help alongside the diet. Caution is necessary though, especially in the earlier stages.

Some people try the diet and either they feel nothing and decide it's not working, as they claim they are neither getting die off or improvements (but they often do not stay the course long enough for either to occur). Some people can start getting die off the first day, but a typical response is about 5 days or so after you start the diet, or some even take a few weeks (or you can simply start to improve without any obvious die off) as everybody is different, it can take a long time before the body starts to respond and pick up, regardless of whether you expeirence die off or not..

any cheating will set you right back again. It's not worth it.

I hope if you try it, that it might help you. For some they can get an almost miraculous recovery from this. In fact, Bee claims on her website (believe it or not), that her diet ALONE, with the recommended fats, proteins etc, is enough to chelate heavy metals out of the body....I'm not sure whether I agree, but she may have a point as some on her website have had mercury come out into their urine from her diet and have proven there has been some mercury excretion take place.

I believe that it's because the body is simply able to get a chance to start eliminating easier and the fats also help repair cell membranes and increase bile production etc. All those things encourage toxin release, including metals. But I do not think it's THE answer for a seriously mercury toxic person who may need FAR more than the diet alone. E.g. DMSA!

I'm glad that you're getting the last of the amalgams removed! Hope all goes well for you. By the way, you can purchase DMSA online and follow one of the safest protocols to take this stuff, which is also available online (I have been through many protocols and have been damaged severely by some of them). If you're interested to hear more, let me know.
