Anybody here who is really suffering badly from mercury, like myself, may not realise that mercury never is in isolation. And often we are no longer suffering so much under mercury, but even moreso under the resulting problems brought on by it. E.g. Candida etc etc. So people are often walking around not realising that they are now actually suffering more from this than the original issue, though the original issue is what poisoned and lowered the immunity in the first place and continues to do so and leave us in a very vulnerable position (this goes for all things like root canals, cavitations etc). All of those conditions require a vigilant effort from us through our diet in order to help control some of the symptoms, and give our body some ability to cope and actually heal. Though it may fall apart as soon as you go off the diet, due to these things possibly being ongoing (cavitations, root canals), at least it may help you in the meantime.

Here is a link showing 3 VERY damaging foods, particularly in those like us http://www.newtreatments.org/doc.php/WisdomExperience/174

Plus not to mention sugar in any form, including even honey and fruit. Though natural sugar in honey and fruit is ok in moderation for a healthy person, they are not so great for those of us who have candida (from mercury or other immune issues).

yeast is another one.

If people can eliminate all these things from their diet and concentrate totally on other foods, some symptoms can actually disappear, or at least there can be some improvement. I've mentioned this before that diet will destroy or prevent more recoveries from this condition more than anything else (according to Hal Huggins).

So anybody here suffering badly enough, your diet is the foundation of everything else. Everything else comes second to this. Get this part right, keep it right, be determined and vigilant and you may just start to notice some improvements and healing taking place, whilst you take action to rid yourself of mercury, and/or root canals/cavitations etc.

The improvements from diet do not happen right away and it is frustrating and not easy, but over time if you stick to the programme, you "may" find this is a Godsend.

example of foods a person can eat - meats, eggs, vegetables (no potatoes due to high starch/natural sugar), plain sugar free acidophilus yoghurt, raw brazil and almond nuts, limited gluten free grain, healthy fats to help heal and rebuild - butter, olive oil, coconut oil (preferably the extra virgin type oil and organic).

Avoding caffeine and instead consuming water or herbal tea (no milk).

Yes it's pretty boring and plain, but if this diet makes a big enough difference, it is well worth the sacrifice.

Be aware, many of us who have first done this have gone through what they refer to as a die off phase. This is when once you're on this diet for long enough (some it happens earlier), the yeasts, pathogens etc begin to die through starvation of what they need to live on (sugar/carbohydrates/glutens). This can cause initially some unpleasant symptoms like feeling grotty, headachey, nausea, tired or jittery, possibly even a worsening of original symptoms at first. This may go on from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how sick the person is, but improvement should follow and in some cases improvements can be dramatic.

Just some suggestions, though I know many of you have heard it before and some are doing this already, it's just for those who may not yet be aware of the impact of these damaging foods - milk, gluten, sugar, yeast, soy, which may normally go unnoticed if your immunity is ok, but when you're already ill, their influence can be terrible.

Why not try it if you're not already?

Hi Bex,

Please click to COLON CLEANSE: SANDIFLOOD, on this mercury section of the forum to my post that says, I BELIEVE THAT A FRESH LEMON ENEMA, AND A 3 DAY RAW VEGETABLE JUICE FAST SAVED MY LIFE!!!

This got rid of my candidas that was everywhere along with many allergies I had!!! I feel refreshed and rejuvinated like I have a new body now!!! I believe this is the most effective way to detox the colon, make your bodies ph less acidic and more on the alkoline side, to get rid of candidas, to get rid of allergies, and rejuvinate the liver!!!

Please read this post along with alot of other posts in this thread. I believe it will benefit your health tremendously!!!

God bless you Bex, I hope that we can all someday here that you are finally getting better!!! Good luck!!!

Hi Bex. Just wondering if you know of any good links or books etc that have some good recipes or meal planners for the Candida diet. My biggest problem is that I love cooking but without fruit, wheat, dairy etc I just have little inspiration of what I can eat without it being too boring.

I will be getting my last quadrant removed this week and on the same day will be seeing a doctor about DMSA etc. I feel that it is now time for me to really take the bull by the horns so to speak with my diet.

What a bad time of the year to start a Candida diet with all the Xmas parties coming up. I will really miss having a glass of bubbly at these types of social events. Big bummer! Oh well. Hopefully I can lose a few kilos as well. I wouldn't class myself as really overweight but I have put on about 8 kilos in the last year and a half which is making me feel very uncomfortable.

So Bex, should I be looking at following the Candida diet but NOT use any antifungals until my mercury load is reduced.

Thanks and hope you are having a lovely day over there in kiwi land.

Thanks for the further tips Scarlett, I'll check that out. Thank you also for the kind words! I'm very glad to hear that you have had improvements from the colon cleanse etc. Candida is a very bad thing, I underestimated how much impact it could have on a person gut and liver.

Hi Rachie, I'm no professional, but the first thing to ever do with candida is the diet. This has been my experience others find this is definitely the safer way to go. Also, believe it or not, you can cure your candida on diet alone! But if your underlining issues are not dealt with, then you'll find candida an ongoing problem that you'll constantly need to deal to with diet and possibly antifungals too. IF you fix the underlining issues, then people find they can loosen up and allow things back into their diet again as their immune system comes back to normal and doesn't have other challenges to cope with.

I cheated on my diet recently as alot of birthdays came up and I am as sick as a dog. So it's not worth cheating and trying to get back on track as it interrupts healing and just puts you back to square one pretty much. You "may' get away with it at some point occassionally, but not until you're stronger and have been on the diet for long enough.

You will definitely lose some weight, but those too skinny can also gain some weight. It tends to even out a person's weight. Skinny people can end up skinnier initially and REALLY get put off and upset, but this is often part of detox at first, part of the body simply eliminating and then later it is more able to round out as it can absorb nutrients more easily. Just as an overweight person will lose weight for the same reason.

The diet is very plain and it's hard to find any recipes, but here is a link to probably the best candida website I've ever been on - http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/candidasupport/

The owner is called "Bee" and she is very good, but she doesn't muck around. Her diet is dead on strict and she's studied this for many years. She won't even allow any grain at all on her diet, nor raw nuts, or yoghurt. So she goes a lot further. Later on she says you can allow these thing sback in, but initially she suggests eliminating anything that can upset the gut, or encourage candida at all. This includes potatoes, carrots etc. But defintely never touch sugar, milk, fruit, gluten grains, soy, yeast, or even fermented products. They all contribute to candida and make things worse.

I may have to get even stricter on my diet because I am still eating yoghurt, nuts and some non gluten grains, becuase I find hers too restrictive and difficult to stick to. But I may have no choice.

Antifungals are not advised at first, even if you don't have mercury. They can kill too much yeast on contact and can make a person far too ill by overloading their system with yeast toxins. Diet alone can cause enough yeast die off by itself, without adding antifungals to it. antifungals used too early on, can really cause problems due to far too much yeast being killed off at once and yeah, if any of the yeast happens to contain any heavy metals, they too will be released back into the body from the yeast being popped open from antifungals and will make a person feel repoisoned.

So they can be risky, but they can also be very helpful if a person finds they help alongside the diet. Caution is necessary though, especially in the earlier stages.

Some people try the diet and either they feel nothing and decide it's not working, as they claim they are neither getting die off or improvements (but they often do not stay the course long enough for either to occur). Some people can start getting die off the first day, but a typical response is about 5 days or so after you start the diet, or some even take a few weeks (or you can simply start to improve without any obvious die off) as everybody is different, it can take a long time before the body starts to respond and pick up, regardless of whether you expeirence die off or not..

any cheating will set you right back again. It's not worth it.

I hope if you try it, that it might help you. For some they can get an almost miraculous recovery from this. In fact, Bee claims on her website (believe it or not), that her diet ALONE, with the recommended fats, proteins etc, is enough to chelate heavy metals out of the body....I'm not sure whether I agree, but she may have a point as some on her website have had mercury come out into their urine from her diet and have proven there has been some mercury excretion take place.

I believe that it's because the body is simply able to get a chance to start eliminating easier and the fats also help repair cell membranes and increase bile production etc. All those things encourage toxin release, including metals. But I do not think it's THE answer for a seriously mercury toxic person who may need FAR more than the diet alone. E.g. DMSA!

I'm glad that you're getting the last of the amalgams removed! Hope all goes well for you. By the way, you can purchase DMSA online and follow one of the safest protocols to take this stuff, which is also available online (I have been through many protocols and have been damaged severely by some of them). If you're interested to hear more, let me know.

Another gem by Bex, and all so true, my candida was masking my mercury illness, and kiling brought the hmt to light.

I battled candida for 2 years and then finally met Dr John Matsen and he told me if you have candida and amalgams, there is little doubt you have heavy metal toxicity and likely mostly mercury.

There are great recipes and food lists at wholeapproach.com... and they have a good colon cleanse too. Be careful to go slow with the antifungals cause they can cause lots of die off symptoms as Bex posted. And most important of all, start with the diet and a good probioitic for at least a week, to ease the dieoff.

The diet is the single best thing I did for my health next to getting the mercury out...I still follow the diet as I have lots of chelating to do, but I am more liberal than I was before removal. Eliminating sugar, gluten, dairy and caffeine from your diet is absolutely crucial to beating hmt...we have to have a clean colon to get the mercury out!!!

It was tough giving up my red wine, cigarettes and favorite foods, but it was well worth it, I am getting my life back better than ever!!!

Good one Bex.
If your serious about getting better and beating this thing, you have to do the diet and let it become a way of life.

Thankyou so much everyone. Had a look on that Candida website that you were talking about Bex. I took the Candida test - mmm not good. I definately need to stick with the diet.

I am trying out Quinoa this evening with my stir fry. Should be interesting. I also recently just started using Stevia which isn't too bad. I don't like it in tea or coffee - but hey I can't drink those anymore anyway. I used Stevia in my porridge this morning and it was really good. I miss the sultanas though that I usually add. Oh well.

Thanks for starting this post Bex! I totally agree. I've been fighting candida for 3 years, and just found out over the past year that mercury was the root cause of it for me.

www.wholeapproach.com is a great website for finding candida safe recipes, and getting guidance and support for candida treatment. It has a professional nutritionist as it's modifier, so she has a wealth of info on candida, the diet, and it's treatment. I have to throw out the heads up though - they are not super friendly to mercury discussions on the forum. In the past, mercury discussions were shut down many times....but they have lightened up on the issue a bit. They have one ongoing thread dedicated to mercury, and request that the discussions stays to that thread. Regardless though, it really is a good website and has loads of information. For candida treatment, it's the best in my opinion (although a bit dogmatic, and very biased toward their approach to treatment).

~Tia

PS - The candida diet really is super helpful, and necessary for many people.

Hi everyone, you're welcome and hope the info might prove a little helpful. I have found a link here that I think is absolutely one of the best things I've read and I'm beginning to feel this is the most important road someone can take. mercury or no mercury, cavitations, root canals, whatever the issue is, candida is an opportunist organism and I believe this is what makes a person's life a misery, as no longer can the body control the yeast.

Here is a link and I hope you'll all read it because it has this kind of info in there if you scroll down and read it to the end. You should find it invaluable.

Hi Jason, I've book marked it as well. I was lucky to come across it! So it was my pleasure to share it, if it could help someone else. I'm trying to stick to my diet at the moment, after a recent lapse that just about finished me, mentally and physically.

Hey Bex,

Just wanted to check and see how things are going for you recently--are the cigarette cravings starting to subside yet? Also wanted to update you on the gum-and-cheek testing with the CEREC--it is still going well on this end, and I think that I am on my third week now. Were you able to get a hold of a sample for yourself yet?

I know I'm getting pretty excited to get these gold crowns out--I can hardly wait anymore!

HI Jason, oh yeah the cigarette cravings were curtailed fast by what happened to me after them

At the moment, because I'm so ill, it seems any cheek and gum test I do, the symptoms flare up far worse. Not sure if it's coincidence, but eachtime I try, I get racing heart, more nausea and feel odd. I am becoming most disheartened by it all, as the reactions happen instaneously upon putting any sample in my mouth.

I have tried Cerec, bonding agents, heliomolar composites etc and it seems to occur with them all. I don't know what to make of this cheek and gum test, as these reactions never happened in teh past with any material that was actually sealed into my tooth. Now that I do this test? I get this happening. I'm not sure what to think.

I'm scared to do anything now and really feel that it's pointless.

I hope you can get the cerec very soon, as it does seem to be one of the best materials and Tgoss (a girl on here), is doing very well with cerec and she was so ill and sensitive, that she had to be careful even with what water she drank. She's had terrible symptoms and she's getting her life back and she has cerec so....it does sound good.

Hi Bex,
I thought that you may want to check out this journal article about the connection of smoking and amalgam. Interesting. Here is the abstract. Not sure if you have seen it before

* Siblerud RL,
* Kienholz E,
* Motl J.

Physiology Department, Colorado State University, Fort Collins 80523.

The smoking habits of 119 subjects without silver/mercury dental fillings were compared to 115 subjects with amalgams. The amalgam group had 2.5-times more smokers per group than the non-amalgam group, which was highly significant. Because mercury decreases dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and acetylcholine in the brain, and nicotine has just the opposite effect on these neurotransmitters, this may help explain why persons with dental amalgams smoke more than persons without amalgams.

Hi Bex,

I'm so sorry to hear about the testing, I know that has to feel like a real downer for you at this point. Have you gotten a chance to try Scarlet's protocol yet? I think that she is definitely onto something with the juice fast and lemons. I have done several juice fasts myself, and always feel great afterwards. I just wish I had the will power to do them much more often, and for more days at a time. I have also been juicing a lemon and lime in 32 oz. of water mixed with some stevia powder each morning, and it is a great way to start the day. It really helps to flush me out every morning, especially since I can't quite seem to kick my coffee habit yet.

Was also wondering--how much Algin per day are you currently taking? Do you think that there is any chance that your body is in heavy detox mode, even though you are not currently chelating?

I definitely find that what I eat affects me and I need to get a better diet sorted. As a vegetarian it's difficult, but I know not impossible as there are gluten free vegans, it's just a case of not been lazy and keeping to the diet, which I am finding very difficult and I'm afraid I've fallen off the wagon and eating not so good foods, but my new years resolution is to have a better diet.

I don't know if this applies to anyone here but we videotaped measurements that we took when we rented the mercury meter. We measured mercury vapor coming off tuna when it was first opened and in most cases, we got well over 100 micrograms per cubic meter. This is a lot of mercury.

We will be posting these videos here (hopefully) soon. We've been having trouble finding the time to get to it.

That is very interesting. I think cutting out fish 16 years ago helped me to improve when I stopped with braces and fillings. I used to eat Tuna sandwiches fairly often. It was my favourite fish.
