Hi, I got a sample of dental materials a dentist is using. He sent me the cerec material sealed on a metal stud (on kind of like a bolt) and the bonding agents he put in a little tube each. The bonding agents are gooey and not set, the cerec he sent is attached to this little metal holder.

So I do not think I can do the cheek and gum test with any of this. I'm not very happy, but should be thankful he took the time to do this at all.

I may have to take the chance and go by the serum test form, as I just do not want to ask him AGAIN. I should have been up front and said I'd be putting the stuff in my mouth.

I'm going to try and get the cerec off this stud so I can put it in my mouth. but it's on there hard as anything!!! ahhrrrrrrrggggg. For the first time a dentist actually takes the time to do something for me, and now this.lol I should laugh because really this is almost a joke.

Hi Bex,
That was actually quite nice of him to do that but if it is useless maybe you could say sincerely thanks a million but would you mind sending me an alternative sample that I can actually put in my mouth.

I don't understand why he would attach it to a bolt? What for? Good luck with it Bex and keep plugging away until you finally get what you need.

Take care. I am off to a 40th B'day bash - the theme is Tropical Island nights. I look ridiculous but am determined to have a great time. I am not going to let this insidious metal ruin all my fun. Bye for now.

Hi Rachie, yes I can't quite understand the metal bolt holding the cerec idea, it's a little odd.

At any rate, I did actually tell him and he suggested that I use a hammer and screwdriver on it. This should be interesting, I can just see me doing that.

Anyway, good luck with the tropical theme evening and hey, who cares if you look ridiculous? imagine everybody else? and yes, good for you! Very hard to be ill daily and miss out so much. On those occassions when a person can do it at all, it's good to try and go for it.

Catch ya.

Hi Bex

Just thought I'd let you know seen as though I have the Cerec in my mouth how it works. Once he has removed the mercury and cleaned out the tooth he takes a "map" of the cavity with a laser. This information is fed to a machine where once he has matched the color of your tooth he places the block of porcelain - which he sent you- with the bolt into a cutting machine. The bolt is there for the machine to clamp the porcelain so that when it is finished being cut to the exact proportions of your cavity he just removes the tiny piece he is going to bond to your tooth. My dentist actually let me watch mine getting cut. It was amazing to see and takes about 30 seconds. Dont be disheartened, im sure he just sent the right sample because one without the bolt in it is incomplete. My dentist had jars of pieces left from the cuting process without bolts in them that they just throw away as it is wate material, im sure yours does to and wont mind sending it to you. If you want I can get from my dentist and send you some ASAP.

If you have any questions I'll try to help you there to.
Hope this helps.

Love T.

Wow it sounds like you have found yourself quite a dentist...I am going to have to ask mine what materials he used for my onlays, they seem to be ok, but my digestion seems to be getting worse again.

Gee Bex, I hope you can get the bolt off, what luck!!!

HI Tgoss, thanks for being so helpful! I'm not sure what to do, I'm really sick right now and in a state and don't feel like doing a thing. I also don't want to test any samples with me like this, or I won't know what's doing what.

Thank you for the offer and can I let you know if I cannot seperate the cerec from the bolt? I just don't know if it would be worth sending a piece of cerec from all that distance (postage etc). I'd feel guilty in regards to the cost of the postage, but i'd pay for it if it came to that.

Thank again and is it possible for you to pass your email onto me? In case you may not be on the forum for a long time and I may need to take you up on the cerec sample offer!

My email is signposts8@hotmail.com So if that's ok by you, if you could email your email to me, that would be helpful. I'm sure you'll be on here from time to time, but thought it might be a good move in case.

Only if it's ok.

thanks

Bex.

Shame Bex, I really feel for you, I agree that you shouldn't test it now while your feeling so bad, the last thing you need is to think you're reacting to Cerec when its something else or worse, get even sicker.

Glad I could help you for a change lol.

Sure, I will email you right away and I wouldn't have offered if I never truly wanted to help you. Im sure the postage would cost next to nothing so no need to worry about that either. Will send my email so you know where to find me.

Hi Tgoss, thanks a lot for your help, I emailed you and hope you get the reply! And yes, I don't know if it's wise for me to do any oral testing with any dental materials in the state i'm in. I wuldn't know what was doing what!

Cheers

Hi Bex,

I'm sorry to hear that the material sample did not work out (or at least not yet). I agree with TGoss, there must be some way to get a different kind of sample. My dentist simply gave me a small square of the material, and it was not attached to anything. As TGoss said, it was probably a waste piece of material left over from a larger block, as one side was very smooth, and the other side was a little bit rougher. Keep us posted on how things progress for you.

Hi Jason, right now I can't test anything, I'm far too sick and fear that I'm not going to come out of this. I haven't yet improved since the cigarettes and it's been nearly two weeks now.

So I'm in a state. Anyway, I hope that if things abate, I may get going with the cheek and gum testing.

by the way jason, there is a lady on here called TGoss and she has cerec in her mouth. She was very ill and very chemically sensitive etc. She is healing and coming right and doing very well (so far and I hope it lasts). She is very happy with the cerec and she was someone who reacted very badly to just about anything.

Hope that's encouraging. (and yep, I will keep you posted). By the way, how did the cerec cheek and gum test go with you? I gather all is still well?

Hi Bex,

Yes, things are still going well with the CEREC for me too, so I am pretty sure at this point that it will be a go for me.

I also just found out today that I will be getting a new job at the place where I used to work a few months ago. Not sure how this will work for my vacation time over the month of December, so this might delay some of my dental work for about a month or so. But this new job will also give me extra funds to work with, and will make it easier to financially bear some materials testing first. I will also be getting 4 weeks of vacation time, which should hopefully help me with any recovery needed afterward. The only downside of the new job will be that I will not have time to go online anymore during the day like I have been used to the last 3 months or so. So I may be posting updates only on a few evenings and weekends now.

I will still make sure to keep you posted on how things keep progressing with the CEREC though, as I am hopeful that this will be a part of the breakthrough that you need to get well.

Jason
