My mom and dad are both 61. They both have amalgam in their mouths. My mother has had occasional wierd health problems (breaking out in rashes, and other minor things), but they always go away, and she has been an extremely healthy person all her life. She almost never gets sick. She has never understood my terrible health problems that I've always had. I kind of got her believing about the mercury thing, but then a few days later, she came back and told me it was probably just stress and my hormones causing all my problems!?!?!? It kinda made me mad.

My dad has always been in decent health, but has had on and off problems. He said he always felt like there was something in his throat, and finally after 30 yrs or so, he saw a doctor about it. He had some kind of surgery, but it didn't completely cure it. He has always had terrible allergies and suffered from depression, as do I. It dawned on me the other day, that he is probably mercury toxic. He is a stubborn man, though, because I tried to talk to him about mine and his only response was a chuckle and to say, "Ahh, I don't see how it could be that, EVERYBODY has those in their mouth". It is the same old thing that the dentists, and the government and everybody want everyone to believe....that it couldn't harm us. So, I don't think I will ever be able to convince him. He and my step-mom LOVE their dentist, and what he says is gold. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I do hope your dad goes through with it. I know I would, even at that age. I would rather have them out, then to go through any more years of having that poison in me. It is a tough decision, I know, but I think it would prolong his life in the long run.
