I wonder what is everybody's wellbeing upon rising, in the afternoon and later as the day goes towards night? I personally feel so-so after getting up, a bit spaced out but betweeon 10-11am I become incredibly anxious , tired, miserable, can't think correctly abd it's not untill the sun starts to go down that I start feeling more like myself. And evenings/nightime is when I'm most active;) (which I know is typical of mercury poisoning to be a night owl).

Anybody else have this? Anyone knows how to control it?

That was me exactly in the later stages of mercury toxicity before my amalgams were removed. I did best at night and hence spent over 12 years on a night schedule... to bed between 4 and 6 am, up between 11 am and 1 pm.

I am currently on a normal schedule for only about the 3rd time in my life... bed at 11pm, up at 6 am. Mercury seriously changes circadian rhythms in many people. I believe this has to do with brain chemistry.

Anonymous,
You are describing me exactly! I've found though that if I sit somewhere quiet, shut my eyes and deep breath for 10 minutes my tiredness and foggy head seems to disappear for a while. Deep breathing is my saviour at the moment! Oh, and magnesium.

Yep sounds like me too. I never jump out of bed in the morning with energy. My worst time is about 9.00 am - 11.00 - this is when I feel like a real space cadet. Late afternoons I start to feel a little better and night time is definately better.

I walk every morning from 5-6 am. I feel compelled to do my walk but at the same time it makes me feel so tired getting up that early. If I have no work commitments etc my natural inclination would be to stay up until about 11 - 12 pm and get out of bed at about 9 am.

I think that the fluorescent lighting that I work under makes me feel very fatigued. It seems like wherever I go these days that I am stalked by fluoro lighting. Everyone else obviously loves it!!

I have always been a bit of a night owl, but I can sure see how it's more prominent in the years since I've had my fillings. I'm usually really groggy when I get up, for an hour or so, then a couple of hours after that, I don't know if I can survive without a nap. I just want to shut down. Sometimes I can get up in a decent mood and frame of mind, though, you just never can tell with me. Early evening, and nighttime I am ready to go. I have more energy then, than I have all day. I thought maybe it was just the happiness that all my kids were in bed, and the noisy neighbors were back in their house, and it was my "peaceful" time. I thought maybe it was just me, but now you've made me stop and think.

My husband always used to make me feel so bad (when he was on 1st shift, he just changed to 2nd thank god, it's better for us) when I didn't get up at the crack of dawn to make breakfast for my 2 teenage girls before school. He pretty much understands now, but it is hurtful for people to think you are "lazy" and irresponsible. I have taken so much ridicule for so many years from all different people, and it makes me feel a teeny bit better knowing the things I do and have done, are not my fault. I haven't wanted to be the way I've been, it just happened. I have wondered for many years why I could never "Get it together".

Rachie, I have to agree about the fluorescent lighting. It drives me NUTS! When I was working, they had them at my job and they would make me sleepy and feel all "loopy" in the head. I thought I was losing my mind, because they never seem to bother anyone else. I hate going in any stores with that bluish fluorescent lighting, it starts making me feel sick. Everywhere I go, there it is. I so prefer stores and restaurants that don't have it.

I feel a little better first thing in the morning, but have little energy by mid morning, and no energy left by the afternoon either. By the time I am ready to go to sleep at 11:00, I am more energetic than I was all day and then I have trouble getting a good night sleep. I know my circadian rhythms have been off for years. Little did I know it might have been because of mercury.

Mommy24 what country do you live in? I gather that it must be Candada or the U.S because of 'mommy' as opposed to 'mummy'. I always thought that it was wierd how north Americans spell it but just looking at my typing I think our way looks wierder now. Our mummy could get confused with a wrapped up dead thing. Aaah.

No, seriously the reason I ask is because I was just curious about which countries have a penchant for fluoro lighting. Practically every place that I have worked at here in Australia uses fluoro lighting.

I am now 35 yrs old but I noticed many years ago that I had an issue with fluoro lighting. When I was 19 I started working at the local Sheraton hotel where I worked as a barmaid in the lobby lounge. The lights were really dim and definately not fluoro. I would work for 3-4 hours and feel great with no energy issues. Then I would go down to the basement to eat in the staff room for approx 45 minutes and during this time I would feel overwhelming fatigue and mild depression. Then within about 30 minutes of resuming the secound part of my shift back at the lounge I would feel happy chappy again. One day when I was sitting in the staff room I thought to myself ' why in heavens name do I feel so lousy'. I then looked up at the rows and rows of fluorescent lighting and it dawned on me that it must be the lighting.

Since then I have always known that fluoros make me feel shocking but didn't know the reason until I came onto this forum about 3-4 months ago. Being on the forum certainly has not helped my light sensitivity but it has been a relief just understanding why I have this issue.

One thing I would love to know is what the pathology behind the fluoro and light sensitivity has to do with mercury. Is is because mercury affects the retina of the eye and makes it more sensitive? Or is it because the fluoro lighting is emitting some mercury vapour that is overloading an already burdened system....

I always used to think that some people were morning people and some people were night hawks, now I know why...except in the summer, I am up with the sun...it is so good for us. Natural light is the best, fluorescent is so bad for us, I read an article recentlly that artificial light is related to cancer..I guess we should go down with the sun.

I think it is the mercury coming from the fluorescent bulbs that make us feel yucky, I used to think it was the sick air in the offices I worked in, but now I know it was the lighting....I hate malls for that reason.

I feel terrible in the morning. Some days I just can't be bothered to get out of bed. I'm rarely up before 11am. I feel really spaced out and anxious at the same time in the mornings. I can hardly think for about an hour. Start to feel better by afternoon and at my peak in the night. Usually go to bed about 1-2am.

I know that I need to force myself to get up and go to bed at a certain time because it helps the bodyclock, especially for women of mendtruating age.

I spoke to an environmental engineer once who makes recommendations in how to make your home healthier if you suffer from chronic illness. It is interesting because she said that the flourescent lights are no good for people with mercury issues, and I never understood the reasons behind it either. My husband always says we should put flourescent lghts in the kitchen, and I won't let him. He thinks the whole mercury connection to flourescent lights is ridiculous. It's interesting because when I was in graduate school in my early 20's and first suffered from mild depression, whenever I used to walk down the halls of th building I did a graduate assistantship in, I would feel lightheaded and depressed. I knew there was something then too. That was 15 years ago - never would have realized anything about mercury or what the symptoms would have escalated to today!

lol, I have always thought of a "mummy" (dead thing) when I see people from other countries say that, until I got used to it. Yes, I am in the U.S. It seems a lot of places are opting for the flourescent lights now, because it saves energy. Gosh, I look back on my life, and all the weird things that I thought was just WRONG with me, and it seems like I can put a mercury connection to them. I know my husband believes me about being poisoned, but he also thinks that I can't possibly blame every single thing that's ever been wrong with me, on it. It sure seems like I can. The lighting thing, is now another issue I can put with it.

I used to work for the US Postal Service. I had an excellent good paying job. We had a building with no windows and all flourescent lighting. I would notice once I was in there awhile, would start getting so sleepy. I even dozed off several times, but I worked with hundreds of people, and it seems you could always find someone asleep (maybe they were toxic too, who knows). I used to know the lights bothered me, but I never understood why. I could be wide awake and in the greatest of moods when I went to work, but after being in there awhile I would get sleepy and really depressed, and many times I would find myself crying at work, or freaking out because I wanted to get out of there so bad. Once I would leave and go home, I would start getting energy again, and feel more awake. Maybe this all makes sense to me now. I had many issues of being sick (that I know now, was mercury toxicity), and I didn't get reappointed for my job when my term was up. I was there for 5 years. Sometimes I miss my job so much, but I am now a SAHM and wouldn't trade that for anything. I am also 35 yrs old.

I don't know if it's the sensitivity or the mercury in the lights, but I know I am glad I have people that can relate to me. Everyone thinks I am crazy, and conjuring up things in my head to blame on the fillings in my teeth, but it's good for the soul, just knowing I can come here and open up to all of you.

Gosh Mommy, now that you mention it, that is probably why I felt so spacey and weird at work, it was the lighting...gosh no wonder I had a love-hate relationship with my work.

This could very well be one of the major reasons there is so much stress in the workplace...and I know what you mean, I tend to put so much blame on mercury for so much, but I don't think we are that far off base.

I think alot of youth and gang violence could be traced back to heavy metal poisoining too, when you think of the rage that it causes, it very well could be. It definitely is linked to autism and other neurological disorders...I read one site that said they should check the brains of serial killers.....they could be very metal toxic.

Sampler Sharon said it all, she callled it the medical atomic bomb of the century.

Btw, where are you Sharon???

Who would have ever thought that our teeth could cause all this???

I hate fluorescent lighting. I work as a special needs teacher and was sent on a really important three day course in January which cost my school a lot of money and was really hard to get on. ( the places were like gold dust) Anyway, I got there and sat down and within an hour felt like I had the flu and jet lag at the same time. There was a weird pulling sensation in my head and it felt like something was moving around in my brain. When I looked up at the ceiling I counted 22 fluorescent strip lights in a room approximately 20ft by 10ft. Needless to say I sat there for three days like a zombie taking nothing in and feeling so tired I thought I'd taken a bottle of tranquilizers.
At the time I beat myself up about it thinking I was stupid for not taking any of the information in, especially when others seemed so alert.
I now know what the problem was.

What about the computor monitors. I love sitting here and exchanging ideas with you all but I often feel very agitated when I sit in front of the monitor. I have also noticed that I get very angry sometimes with my partner when I am sitting at the computer.

Are the monitors fluoro?

I think that the issue is not just flourescent lights. I think that many of us are hypersensitive to a lot of environmental things. The computer could be electromagnetic field hypersensitivity. I am very chemically sensitive, and and am aware that when I go into a lot of places like hotels, malls, even schools (I am a consultant and go in and out of schools), I feel exhausted and foggy. It's not just flourescent lights - for me it's a zillion chemicals in the environment.

I remember many years ago, before I knew I had amalgam poisoning or knew anything about mercury, I was going on this typing course. Everytime I was on this course, I would get sicker and sicker as the days went on and I never knew why I felt bad everytime i was there.

It was not stress either. And everytime I was there, people commented on my looks and how sick I looked. And I felt bad all the time, I had a feeling it was the lighting, but I didn't know why I felt that.

It was fluorescent lighting and though I am a sensitive person, I never picked myself as over chemical sensitive, as I can use hairspray and other things like this and be ok.

So I don't know what to make of the lighting thing and can only assume that it was the mercury or something. I felt much like this anywhere that had this lighting and i hated it.

HI Dawn, I had the same problem with my computer screen also, I think it's to do with your inner toxicity reacting with whatever comes off the screen itself.

I had to get a protective shield to put across teh screen to cut down or block most of those rays coming off it. It helped. Though I stick to a small screen and angle it downwards so it's not angeled right up at my face.

Also, even with all that, though it helps, if I'm not on the candida diet, it will worsen regardless. But I tried taking the shield off my computer to see what would happen and within days the reaction was absolutely severe. So I put it back on and it abated again.

thats all interesting cos when Luke started work he was continually sitting at a computor screen all day long then he started getting temporal lobe headaches for a couple of months and then started having his seizures makes you wonder perhaps if we all went and lived on an island somewhere and ate organic food enjoyed the sun and slept when we need to we would recover but i think id have to stay there!

Yeah, I have heard of some people having severe reactions to computer screens. What luke is getting is absolutely extreme and perhaps the computer screen sets those reactions off and increases till he starts to have seizures. Obviously things are not right to begin with, but they really tend to play on whatever a person has wrong.

Like with Dawn, afterusing computer, my face would look haggard and drawn and odd. Just as you described Dawn. So the protective screen did make a difference.

and yeah Tracy, maybe if we all did live on some island wiht perfect air, food etc, our immunities would recover and things would heal again. I think once a person spirals down from too many things at once, I think they can remain in a permanent cycle of sickenss because the body doesn't get a chance to recover or begin to heal, as it's gone too far down and/or dealing with too many challenges at once.

I try to lessen or remove one challenge, which is my diet, but even then I'm struggling.

One word, ADRENALS

Cutler discusses this in his book briefly. A person with adrenal problems will have a bad tired lull at about 3-4 if he/she forces themselves to stay up past 10 pm they will stay up ALL night. In fact at times they will be extremely tired but not people able to sleep (racing mind, panic, feeling like they can't breath) alot of this is caused by adrenal and the subsequent slowdown in cerrulplasim production (in the adrenals) and there for causing a accumulation of copper. Cerrulplasim causes the liver to bind copper into bile and excrete it. Low adrenals, alot of times high copper which accounts for SOME (not always) of the psycological problems. Mercury directly effects a enzyme that will allow you to make normal (or high) progestrone and normal/high DHEA but low cortisol because of the enzyme defciency. Everybody has to remember that Mercury interferes greatly with enzymes, cell receptors and everything under the sun. I think the important thing to account for is that most of us probably have a genetic fault that favors accumlation of mercury. This does not mean that you can't do anything it just means you have to modulate amino acids (taurine for example) minerals (zinc, lower copper, etc) , vitamins (vitamin C)to favor your genetic predisposition along with avoiding mercury exposuire, before, during and after a appropriate chelation method. A good thing to try is Vitamin C and B-5 (panthetic acid) as they are highest in your Adrenals and Pituatary glands. If you have been adrenal insufficent (adrenal fatigue what not) then you may get "copper dumps" from the Vitamin C as it is a great chelator of Copper.

I can't wait to get the Cutler book, that is me, I am falling asleep sitting up at 8 pm and then I get a second wind and stay up until 2 or 3...and then I am a wreck the next day. I guess I will have make myself go to bed at 8 pm....then I will be awake at 4am...oh well, I will try it.

I just wrote this long post to you all, saying that I have the same exact problem and I'm glad you started this thread....but the post got lost due to some technical difficulties of loggin in.

So in a much breifer summary, I have the same issues with lacking energy and being unproductive during the day, and then "hitting my stride" at around 8-9 pm and finally being able to be productive. The main problem is though that I NEVER have energy. I have adrenal and thyroid issues, which as Jason mentioned, tend to be linked to these symptoms, and tend to be caused by mercury. I'm treating my adrenals and thyroid, but haven't had any luck so far.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how to get your circadian rhythms back on track? Has anyone tried those natural light spectrum light bulbs? Dr. Mercola's website sells some at $20 a bulb....I've thought about getting just one to start and seeing if that helps at all. I definitely could use some natural sunlight - I know that would help me - but as we head into winter, I don't see that happening. I'd love to hear about any experiences people have had with those, or any other suggestions you have.

And for anyone else who suffers from insomnia or just has problems falling asleep, I highly recommend VALERIAN root extract to help with it. I've tried the capsule form and it did nothing, but I recently tried NOW brand liquid valerian root extract and it has been a lifesaver. It actually helps me get to sleep, and does not seem to leave me any groggier than I usually would be the next morning. I asked my doctor if it's ok to use pretty regularly and he says that's fine. Just thought I'd throw that out there, because it has helped me soooo much. It still doesn't help me have any energy the next day, but I can at least get a full night of sleep and not be worse for the wear.

Take care,
~Tia

I think the only thing to do is to make yourself go to bed when tired and of course, get the mercury out. Sticking to the diet, and getting regular exercise is really important too.... something I have not been doing enough of lately, too busy packing getting ready to move. What a tedious job.

Exercise - great idea.....and one that's a foreign concept to me! Any attempts at it usually last 2 weeks at best. But I will give it a try. I have a friend who is really into yoga, so maybe we can get together to do yoga once a week....great way to relieve stress too.

Thanks Sandi,
~Tia
