Hi everyone, Normally even though I have bouts of mercury induced anger, nobody except my long suffering boyfriend must endure them. Until.... Well, last weekend my mother invited me to an art exhibition where her husband was exhibiting his beautiful artwork along with 15 other artists. Many of the guests were politicians, the local mayor etc.
My mother absolutely loves hob nobbing with these kinds of people. She doesn't particularly care about their philosophies or beliefs but just loves hanging out with them. Very shallow I assure you. Love her dearly cause she is my mother but honestly....
Anyway, cut to the chase. The entire evening she was dragging me around the gallery introducing me to this councillor, the local mayor, this barrister.. you get the picture. Anyway, towards the end of the evening she said very excitedly 'Rachel, there is one last person I must introduce you to'
Well, my mother introduced him as Peter....... who is one of our finest dentists here and one of our best politicians in the State. Mmm, I saw red for a second but then thought 'No, control yourself Rachel'. Anyway as soon as he found out that I was a nutrition researcher he probed as to whether or not I was a pro fluoride advocate as he is currently lobbying for mass fluoridation of our water supply (Queensland where I live is the only state left in Australia that doesn't have a fluoridated water supply).
I told him under no circumstances was I in favour of mass fluoridation and then I just so happened to throw in the comment, 'so I guess you have also been poisoning your patients for the last 30 years or so with mercury?'. Oooops did I say that!?! Yep!!
Well, then it really heated up. It was fantastic. Our heated disagreement went on for about 30 minutes. My mum would just look at him and then look at me, then look at him...... There was a tiny pause for about 30 secounds and my mum threw in ' Really Peter she isn't usually like this!'.
I think that he got a real shock. I guess that over the years some of his patients have probably feebly asked 'So is the mercury in these fillings harmful to my health?' which would have been rebutted by him with the usual 'Don't be silly. We have been using Mercury based fillings for over 100 years with an impeccable safety record......'. They probably backed down and said ' Well in that case if you say so go ahead'.
He tried all the standard tactics on me and I shot him down in flames!! I was ever so proud of myself because I know that I seriously made him really THINK for once about this issue. Thanks to Bex, Russ, Sandi, Andy Cutler and so many of you here on this forum I had an arsenal of information to back me up. I have also mailed him about 5 of my favourite peer reviewed journal articles just to stir him up even more.
Am I bad? Is this the mercury that would make a normally docile person act in such a way? Well, to be quite honest I don't really care. I utterly enjoyed myself!!!!

I enjoyed just reading this post Rachie! Very nice job. We need more people in this world like you that are willing to stand up for what is right, especially in situations like you were in where it can have a real impact on those in leadership who have control over these issues. Wish I could have been there to see it myself. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Hey, I didn't even know this post was on here. I just read it now. That was hilariouis!!! GOOD GOING. I feel actually really proud that I was one of those you mentioned at having a little input (or influence hehe). I wish I had the guts to go and say that.
Hey, if it is mercury induced aggression, then you aimed it in the right direction. Personally? I'd call it a very well controlled justfied anger, directed at one of those who have caused mass poisoning and misery to millions. And if this is out of character? Then i'm glad you got out of it for a while <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> But I think you just took the bull by the horns and went for it. He must have been rather astounded and I would say inwardly unnerved by it.
See, if more people did this? and i'm quite serious, these dentists would be absolutely out on their ear. You'd have people marching against them with placards. Problem is, most people are too passive or don't want to create too much of a problem and those in charge intimidate and make out "well you're in the minority anyway, the majority don't believe mercury is a problem in fillings, so you might as well shut up and accept it". This is their ploy to overwhelm people.
Also in many mercury toxic people, it can cause shyness and passiveness and fear, so it is very hard for anybody toxic to speak out. And yeah it can cause aggression too, but normally in a bad way.
lol, I'm so glad you did that!!! One person can actually make a profoudn difference and not know it. You may never know what impact you may have had on him privately. It may not happen yet, but it may take another person or another comment and after a while, with enough of this, he may start to get nervous and doubt what he's doing.
anyway, thanks for sharing what you did!

I am very proud of you for standing up for "the cause"!!!!!! What you did was wonderful! I am trying to come out of my shell, at least a little. I too, have suffered many years being passive and fearful. I am now having some fierce anger coming out, but in a way that's good, maybe it will fuel my fire to TRY and get the message across to people. I just have to try and channel it in a positive way.

awesome!!! keep spreading it. i can't really help myself either when it comes to this topic either....it's led to me being a bit forceful with my view. now i'm trying to restrain myself a little....still give the info, but not force it down someone's throat, so it gives me a better chance of having them actually hear me. but it's so hard to do with this topic! it sounds like you pulled it off though - awesome!

Yep I guess I knew that it was going to happen to me one day. Being confronted by a dentist and entering into the mercury debate that is. Just didn't think that it would happen only 4 months or so into my awakening of mercury. You know if this dentist had not been so condescending and haughty from the outset I probably would have let it go. I don't like disagreeing with kind and thoughtful people.
Naturally, I expect that 99% of dentists would try to defend their position if someone said to them 'So I suppose that you have been poisoning your patients with mercury....' I guess a lot of these dentists are just as innocent as the victims. In dental college they are reassured by their lectuers and professors again and again that amalgam is a safe product
This particular dentist did not appear to be so innocent though. I guess knowing that he was in a position of reasonable power and standing in the community I felt that it was my duty to say something. In hindsight I probably could have started it off with something a little more assertive, but hey whats done is done. I guess instead of slowly creeping up to the crux of the matter, my initial comment just propelled us there in 2 secounds instead.
As the disagreement came to a close it was he who started to pull away as he knew that my understanding of the biochemistry of mercury was much greater than his (thanks to Andy Cutler - yes I have been memorising many parts of this book just in case such a situation was to befall me).
At the end he actually admitted to me that he had prostate cancer. I know that he walked away WONDERING.
The scary thing about these dentists is just how little they really know about amalgam and it's effects. Here are a few of his statements which we know are completely incorrect:
- A blood test is the only way to prove mercury poisoning. - The only symptom of true mercury poisoning is fatigue and tremors. - Only levels like that of the Minamata disaster are high enough to cause to illness to humans - Once mercury is mixed with the other metals to form amalgam it becomes completely inert. (I then told him that there was research conducted quite some time ago that shows beyond any doubt that mercury vapour does emit from amalgams. I also told him that the Dental Association of Australia even admits it. He said that he didn't believe me -don't worry that was one of the journal articles I sent him) - He said that there was no such thing as chronic mercury poisoning only acute mercury poisoning. The list goes on and on..
Thanks everyone for your kind words and support.

I have to say, 'nice one' doesnt actually come close to expressing how much of an INSPIRATION this story is to me! Thankyou. Backing down is what i did for too FXXXING long.
Actually, several weeks ago i made some print outs of online IAOMT / Cutler literature to lend my [highly skeptical] doctor, who has the fillings of doom herself. Strangely enough she hasnt returned them yet LOL... probably have been stuck in some drawer and forgotten about. [mercury will do that to u]
She did send an arse-covering letter stating she would read-and-return soon, but that i 'shouldnt take any non-prescribed drug that i bought off the internet...' [DMSA] well fair enough, shes never heard of it.
I must have seen about 15 docs by now... trying to explain the mercury situation is a trying and disturbing experience, as im sure we are all familiar with. Some laugh it off like its some wacky alternative health fad, others squirm and go quiet. I feel more sorry for them actually. But the information is out there, u just have to find the courage to uncover the [horrendous] truth.
Ooh, i finally got the 'follow-up' Neurology appointment thru [end of this month] to discuss my Perfectly Normal EEG scan result... the letter suggested i bring along someone who has 'witnessed' my seizures [am i on trial??? kinda hard as i live alone]... so this will be fun <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> If im not mistaken, this is the same guy who 13 years ago presumed i had been experimenting with recreational drugs. Yeah right <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Just have to try and remain calm-but-assertive <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Thanks again

I once told a person on another forum—who is likely a dentist— this about his position on the amalgam issue: "In a very short time, you'll be standing with a vast minority."From: http://www.sciential.net/dcforum/DCForumID6/1187.html"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."—Arthur Schopenhauer, 19th Century Philosopher

Awesome awesome awesome
This is it. Stand up to the hacks and force change, in private and in public. If people had acted like Rachie decades ago, we on these forums wouldn't have had mercury poisoning today.
Dissent, yell, argue, take a stand.
I salute you Rachie.

Thanks for the 'Fast Facts" Russ. I have printed it out for memorization purposes. At the moment I am trying to educate myself about the genetics of the house cleaning apo E proteins and how they impact on excretion of mercury.
I feel that it is really important for us to educate ourselves about this topic. Due to the fact that most people think that we are nutters to be concerned about something so seemingly harmless, it is so important that we have the facts straight.
I am now working in mainstream medicine at the hospital - albeit nutrition but I am surrounded by paediatricians, academic research fellows in the fields of nutrition, paediatrics and genetics.
I am preparing myself for the day/s when I know that I am going to be confronted and bullied about the topic of mercury toxicity (especially at my workplace). One day I hope that I will not merely have to justify my position on mercury toxicity but can educate people about the dangers of it and how to overcome the effects of it with nutrition, chelation and removal protocol advice.
So glad this forum exists.

Russ just read the posts from the link that you provided about oral nerve damage. Good on you for going on such a site and giving them a bit of a shake up.
Can't believe that those two so called doctors had the nerve to call you an idiot. You kept your cool and they didn't. They were truly stumped at the end. Even if you just ignited the spark of curiosity of one of that forums readers you may have indeed changed a life for the better.
It just seems so utterly ludicrous to me that these doctors, scientific researchers, dentists and seemingly educated and savy people can't perform an easy equation. MERCURY (known lethal toxin) + Human Body = DISASTER.
How much longer is it going to take before humans realise that we cannot BEAT nature into submission? Mess with nature and it will indeed mess with us.
If mercury was left in it's natural state as nature intended and not added or used in vaccines, eye drops, thermometers, DENTAL RESTORATIONS..... we wouldn't be in the predicament that we have found ourselves in.
I love the way mainstream medicine label some occupations such as naturopaths, herbalists, homeopaths etc as QUACKS. It was not until recently that I found out the meaning of QUACK and considering it's origin and modern use is ironic to say the least. For those of you who don't know the meaning, apparently it was derived from the German word 'Quack salber' which translated means 'Quicksilver' which we all know as mercury. Hundreds of years ago peddling salesmen would sell mercury as a cure all for anything from syphillis to infertility. You could imagine the dire consequences of taking mercury to try and cure such ills. At least those with syphillis would have been put out of their misery faster!!!
Dentists and those who support the use of mercury fillings such as the ADA, AMA and FDA have the hide to call natural therapists 'Quacks' when according to history it is they who are the 'Quacks'. That is the irony.

Rachie, I just read your post and am 100% impressed with you!
You were at the right place at the right time-- and maybe he'll do some research now on the other side of the mercury issue. Of course, he'll not admit it, but at least maybe now, he will think about what you said when he's alone.

I'm still not as brave as you, but I did force myself to speak up yesterday at a doctors office.
My daughter had gotten an insect bite of some kind and her finger was getting really bad. I tried all the natural stuff I could think of, but it was hurting so bad I was afraid of what might happen to her so I took her to a walk in clinic (we don't have a family doctor anymore since we stopped using doctors a few years back). On their front door they had a statement which I thought was good - for the health and well being of our customers, this is a non-smoking building. Well, I had only been in there a few minutes when my throat started to hurt and my head started to get that wierd feeling. I then had to go to the bathroom and while I was in there I noticed that they had one of those chemical emitting "air freshener" machines on the wall. I looked and there were two more in the waiting room. When I turned in my forms I told them that those chemicals were making me sick and that they might want to think about having them removed. I then had to stand outside (on a cold day) and wait until they called my daughter back for her turn. Luckily there weren't any machines in the exam rooms.
Thanks for setting an example for me to start standing up for myself and others <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

That's great, Missy. You sound like me. I've had such a terrible time saying what I want/what I think or demanding what is rightfully mine. I am working REALLY hard in this area right now. I am so tired of being timid, and afraid to say what I really think. Mercury has got me down so bad in that area, since I can't think straight and fumble my words when I'm talking (especially when it's something serious and important), but I am just telling people what I think now, ANYWAY. lol
It feels good to stand up and say something, doesn't it? Congrats, and keep it up! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

How are you bad? My blood boils and I get angry when I meet murderers, wife beaters and rapists. He's a poisoner - I got no problem sticking him up there with that lot for getting angry at him. He causes just as much pain.
