hello,
I jsut had a DMPS challenge test after amalgam removal and my resutls came back as 56 micrograms/gram of creatinine. They said the reference level was 4. I was a bit concerned as thereference level they give is measured in people who have not been challenged with DMPS. Is it fair to compare levels in someone who has not been challenged with DMPS to someone who has been given DMPS/ thanks for any opinions

I think what you are asking is it the same reference range as if you just took a urine test without dmps, well they should of gave you an unchelated urine test first then the challenge test. Honestly if i were you i would not have that tst done again,i had one done, without any option or explanation of its purpose or risk,if you had your amalgams out it is a bit safer, but i still had mine when it was done. Btw was it oral,or IV Oral is more safe IV is risky. Its expensive and not worth doing. A hair folicle test is the most safe and accurate, but you need to find someone who is very experienced at interperiting the results.

I hear what you're saying Anon. What would the reference level be if they had been challenged? Good point! Would it be worth posing that question to the lab that did the test? I would be interested to hear their response!

I have test resultsboth challenged and unchallenged and they both go by th same reference range which is the allowed daily value of mercury which is a 4 or something to that nature. unchelated my urine was well within the reference range, but 2hrs after dmps iv,the readings were off the chart.

hi, thanks for the replies.
Well, I asked my gp this question, and she said that they have to compare to some level, and she said that in her experience if someone doenst have mercury in their body and were challenged, then there wouldnt be a high reading, so jsut the fact that my reading is high means I probably have a lot of mercury in my body.
hard to know....
