Well, to go ahead and update on this post, my Dr looked at me like I was NUTS! He and the nurse asked me what made me "think" I had mercury poisoning, at which point I told him all my symptoms. He told me it sounded like my thyroid. They took 4 vials of blood from me, and ran all kinds of tests on them. He said he wanted to check me for all of the "obvious" things, before he gets into more "rare" things like mercury poisoning. Whatever. My Dr's office is 50 miles away from me, and he expects me to screw around driving all that way, and having to find a sitter for my kids, so he can test me for a bunch of crap that I don't have? Why are all Dr.'s in denial? Anyway, they called me 2 days later with the test results, and it's negative on the thyroid, everything looks good, and the triglycerides are a little elevated (I just read that can be a symptom of mercury toxicity). He checked my blood sugar, which was 98, but he told me that was only one reading, so I KNOW he wants to do a glucose test on me, and I really don't want to go through ANOTHER one of those things again. I am tired of them. I had to take them when I was pregnant, because supposedly I had gestational diabetes. The last one that I had (since the pregnancy), came out great, but you know these doctors, they get something set in their mind...
On a brighter note, I found a very reputable dentist that follows the protocol for amalgam removal, unfortunately he is 85 miles away from me, but he is the closest one. My car is in bad shape, but I will risk the drive to get well. I need to have a consultation with him, as I am getting worse every day. I just wrote him a long e-mail, and hopefully I will get a response in the next day or two. He also gives recommendations of Dr's that you can see, so maybe he could recommend one for me. All I know is that I can't wait until they write me back, and let me know what my options are. I am scared to death, and also very excited at the thought of getting this mess in my mouth fixed. I am getting worse, because not only is my mouth still burning like fire (it's been how many weeks?), now my top lip is getting the "pins and needles" feeling, or off and on numb feeling. My hands, feet and face have been getting really cold, and I now feel like the blood running through my veins has ICE in it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> It is a scary feeling, considering that I am usually hot most of the time. My tongue even feels cold in my mouth, and that scares me also. When I get anxious or nervous, I still get really overheated. I did it again today, when I had to hurry and get all of us ready to go somewhere. I have a panic attack and I sweat profusely, that is nothing new, but the cold thing is new, and scary. I don't know if I should even waste my time going back to the family Dr., as he doesn't believe me, and I don't think he can help me at all. I think I should just concentrate on the dentist.
