Hi, I have a low platelet count which has become even lower since my amalgam removal. I would take a guess that mercury plays a part and was wondering if anyone else has the same problem and whether it has corrected itself over time. I'm forever hopeful!

Good to hear that you're forever hopeful <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Platelets, being dependent on Calcium and Vitamin K in order to work, can decrease in several situations including disfunctions in the liver or spleen.
I would not be surprised if we could connect this problem with mercury interfering with signaling hormones or with liver function.
Anyway, I have heard of this condition going away slowly over a long period of time in persons doing mercury detox but I don't recall the source. In the mean time, Calcium and Vitamin K would be good supplements to make a good insurance policy. Alfalfa sprouts are rich in Vitamin K.
Keep us posted.

Thanks Russ, I'm seeing a medical herbalist who specialises in mercury poisoning next Thursday and she is going to test my mineral and vitamin levels. When I had the same test done a couple of years ago I was low in Vit K. It will be interesting to see the results. I'll keep you posted.
