Anytime Bex. I will find out if my insurance will cover this for sure in about a month--for now I have to just wait. I am thinking that I will try having one crown placed, and see how it goes before trying any more. As phxcoop was saying before, it seems like there are a lot of false positives and negatives from testing, so I am still not completely sure what to make of the testing route. Even there, it seems like there are conflicting stories. I would think though that I would have heard of a lot more negative stories if people were rejecting CEREC's left and right, but on the contrary it seems to be getting more and more popular--there must be a reason for this.
As far as cost goes, I am assuming that the high expense comes from the extra equipment that is necessary in the dentist's office to place these--i.e. special cameras, computers, milling equipment, reflective powder, etc. This dentist told me that each CEREC would cost $950.00 apiece. This would be one flat fee regardless of whether I could get them done in one sitting, or whether I would need to take mould impressions and be fitted with temporary crowns, and/or whether I had silver fillings below each crown. Removal of any silver filling (if it exists below my crowns) would also be covered in this cost. I would need to pay $36.00 per visit for supplemental oxygen though, which I will gladly shell out.
If you are trying to save money, maybe it would be best to see how my first placement goes before diving into this. I have to admit, that in spite of this dentist's enthusiasm for the product, that there is still a profit motive involved here, so I still need to take what he says with a grain of salt. However, it seems like the evidence is looking more weighted towards the positive. I guess the proof will be in the pudding for me, once I get one placed. I will be waiting for at least a month before moving forward on any more, assuming that I have no reactions.
Need to run for the day--I will keep you posted on any other information that I find out in the coming days and weeks. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Take care, Jason
