hello,
Ive seen that saunas are good for detoxing mercury. I was wodnering if you are in a sauna with someone detoxing mercury and you touch their skin or sit next to them, will you absorb the mercury they are detoxing?
thanks

Yes, to a point you would. As mercury comes out of the pores, you absorb it via the lungs again and some people can get wheezing and feel quite woozy after it. So I'd imagine you'd absorb a bit of your own, and/or someone else's if they are detoxing mercury too.
But certainly, unless you are totally overdoing it, a sauna is a very good way of detoxing mercury and does work. For instance, they used to detox miners from severe mercury toxicity with saunas (they'd probably no doubt be all in there together). And it must have helped them, even though they'd get some re-uptake into the lungs/nasal cavity.
I've had the experience myself with my own mercury. Detoxing myself in a hot bath was one such example. I definitely did start eliminating mercury out of my skin, but I breathed it in also and did get the wheezing and also had uncontrollable giggling/laughing fits too. So definitely there must have been some vapor exposure for that to occur. I also got that too when taking an antifungal, as antifungals for candida can split open yeast cell walls and many times yeast cells contain heavy metals, so releasing the metals back into the system from killing a lot of yeast with antifungals is another way of being "re-exposed". I would get the same kinds of sensations, wheezing, laughing fits etc, but my last experience with an antifungal was far worse than that. Severe is the word. I ended up being literally repoisoned with mercury from using them.
but Saunas should be ok. Just don't overdo it.

Make sure you take a shower after, to wash it all off.

Bex,
I read some where that people with amalgams still in should NOT sauna because it will draw more hg from the amalgams. I have a friend though that has been going to Dr. Rea out in Dallas at the Environmental health clinic, and he has been using the sauna amongst other things trying to get healthy enough to even have his amalgams out. I have noticed that he doesn't seem to be progressing-it has been at least 2 years. Surely the Doctor would be aware of that though.
Have you any information on that?

Hi there. Mercury is locked in and bound up mostly and usually needs amalgam removal and provoking before it is available for detoxing via the skin. Though if it works? Great. But obviously your friend is getting nowhere and needs amalgam removal. His best bet at this stage would simply be a strict healthy candida diet, with healthy fats and proteins (butters, eggs, meats, olive oil etc) and good supplements.
Amalgam removal might begin to allow his stored mercury to start dumping back out. At this time, it seems he's not really achieving much, if anything. It may not be making him worse, but just might be pointless for him, as it seems it is.
I do not know if saunas encourage more vapor release from amalgams, due to the heat. It is possible of course, as any heat provokes more of it, but I would think that the sweating would probably offset that reaction. I can't be certain and this is why I would think it's wiser to wait until after amalgam removal before attempting to chelate (or chelate with sauna).
