Well i think i have hit rock botom as far as my adrenals. Anything that gives an adrenal rush i begin to tremb/shiver. Hand eye coordination is at an all time low. any noise or any sound startles me. If i get on a swing it feels like a roller coaster ride, along with loss of balance thereafter. thinning brittle hair. Overall weakness, weightloss fatigue, and trembling after stressful excersise. Depression blank mind etc.. The list goes on,along with AsI serum test from a few months back with depressed morning cortisol levels, and dhea. Has anyone been this bad at any point in time,i saw an endocrine specialist but,i on't think he will provide much help.

Strenght, why don't you try licorice. This can raise cortisol levels. Do not buy the deglyzerized (sp?) type if your adrenal fatigue is causing you to have low blood pressure. The ordinary licorice will help raise your BP. I open up a capsule in a cup of warm water with a pinch of sea salt and drink this first thing in the morning. Also make sure not to eat any sugar, not even fruit as sugar is veeeery bad for adrenals. Try to get to bed before 10 pm and try to lie in in the morning till 9 am. These times are for adrenal recovery. Make sure you eat a little protein with each meal, especially in the morning.
Again, if your blood pressure is low, try to have sea salt with every meal and then drink water in between. Ordinary table salt is bad, so stay far away from processed food. Sea salt is of benefit for those with adrenal fatigue.
Vitamin C is supposed to be good for adrenals, but since you have low cortisol perhaps you should not take this supplement as I have read it lowers cortisol levels.

strength, I have just ordered some stuff that contains licorice and I too after reading tons and tons of stuff about adrenal fatigue etc on the internet have read that licorice is very good for the adrenals. If you do a search and put in licorice for adrenals you will get tons of information. The one thing I have noticed though is it is not recommended to be on licorice for more than a couple of months as it can, as already mentioned raise blood pressure.. Well that is what I'm going to try so here's hoping it does some good. I'm also trying to get to bed early but its hard cos I'm a real night owl. lizbet

Another thing to try is vitamin B5 - pantothenic acid:
"In addition, Pantothenic Acid acts as an adrenal gland stimulant. As the glands are stimulated, the production of adrenal hormones, and especially cortisone, increases. The vitamin is also believed to be capable of reducing fatigue and thereby enhancing stamina levels. Pantothenic Acid is crucial for the production of antibodies too. Many specialists agree that Vitamin B5 can help the body fight off the symptoms of stress, anxiety and even depression."

Thanks for the replies everyone,i have been drinking licorice root tea in the mornings, and it seems to give a bit of releif. But i think i am way beyond what this can do to help,i can hardly stand up straight or sit straight up,i feel like i am gonna fall over, makes driving hard for me. I'm gonna get some vit b5,i was on b50 complex, but it did not do much for me in that sense. I guess this is what happens after years of them telling me the reason i feel like this is just stress/anxiety. I am gonna look into the whole licorice supplement, but i think i am to the point wher i need to be on glandulars and hc. I will see what the endo specialist says when my results come back,i am slowly running out of time. I am also an early bird so me laying till 9 is probably gonna drive me crazy, enen though i have to force myself to get out of bed, whereas before i am upand ready to tackle the days tasks. Thoughh i am hopeful if i can get this under control everything else will be of ease. Thanks everyone, any more ideas please post them up.

Strenght, I haven't got my adrenal support stuff yet, I have ordered it but am waiting for it, I am taking extra vitamins to try and give myself a boost I have also read that echinachea (not sure how to spell that) is also good for the adrenals ( well again thats what I have read on the internet) so I'm also taking that, apprently you should take vitamin C along with echinache for it to be more effective for the adrenals I read that somewhere too, I will try and find the site and post it for you. I have a bad cold so am feeling really run down just now. After what anonoymous said I have just went and got some Vitamin B5 - 500mg dose and have just taken some just now so I will let you know if I feel any better, although being a B vitamin I suppose it would have been better if I'd taken it first thing in the morning as usually B vitamins make you alert. That will be the next thing, I won't be able to sleep tonight. I too am finding it a problem getting enough sleep, I have went to my bed early - well early for me - 10pm all this week and all I do is toss and turn for hours. lizbet

Anonymous, the adrenal gland support that I ordered was from www.yournutritionshop.co.ukIf you click on Health Categories, and then Adrenal Gland Support, you will find various different supplements for the Adrenal Glands.. I was looking for a supplement that had licorice in it and just did a search for uk sites and this one came up. Hope that helps lizbet

Thanks Lizbet, internet world is a small place. This is the shop I order all my supplements from I didn't know they stocked adrenal support supps. I'm thinking of ordering the Nutri Adrogen because I'm sure I have some serious adrenal fatigue and probably need the glandulars, but I haven't heard of the Nutri products before, so don't know if they are reputable. I might chance it anyway. I'm guessing you've ordered Biocare......It would be great if you posted your experience here later

This is why we perhaps should be careful in using high vitamin C dosing. It says C reduces excess cortisol. Meaning healthy people who do actually secrete cortisol and produce lots during stressful situations. Some of us might have low output and wouldn't want to take anything which lowers it further, although I understand some vitamin C is necessary for the adrenals to be able to make cortisol at all: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=252375

I know exactly what you are going through. Magnesium is what your body needs (B5 too will help). I can always tell if my levels start getting low again when noises make me jump. For me, taking sea salt didn't help and actually made me worse. Sodium is an antagonist to mg so I guess thats why. Sodium or licorice didn't raise my blood pressure any. Drinking more water helps with blood volume and with the adrenals because the adrenals won't be getting too many signals to make more adrenaline (epinephrine) to stimulate the heart to beat faster.
I take anywhere from 800mg-1100mg of mg each day. Helps with the depression too

Hi Strenght
I also feel worse when high dosing vitamin C, as if it totally drains my energy. It's not the same feeling as the mercury fatigue, it's as if I go numb.....anyway, that's why I decided to check how C interacts with cortisol.
I've also checked out some other stuff with regards to cortisol:
I found the phospolipids in lecithin (which I've been taking for liver support) also reduces cortisol.
Insulin reduces cortisol, so maybe this is why it's advisable to not eat fruit, sugar, refined carbs.......
Eating few meals seem to increase cortisol, so snacking may be something to avoid.
Also testosterone reduces cortisol. For the last few months I've been getting high testosterone symptoms.....even though I'm a girl, and did some research: Almost all amino acids raise testosterone levels especially arginine, lysine and ornithine. Zinc also raises testosterone greatly! Not only have I increased my protein intake, BUT I also have been taking amino acid complex supplements. In addition I've taken seperate aminos such as methionine to reduce histamine levels, taurine for copper reduction and GABA for calming. I've also been taking zinc several times a day to deal with suspected copper symptoms. At the same time my energy levels have decreased. My testosterone levels have probably increased because of the above and this has perhaps reduced my cortisol levels
I also read that "Vitamin C acts synergistically with testosterone".......

It's funny, Missy, but before I had my amalgams removed, NOTHING made me jump. My kids all thought it was so funny. They would do there darndest to scare me and none of it would fizz on me. I was taking magnesium at the time. I am still taking magnesium, and since having my amalgams removed, 9 months ago, almost since the day they were removed, I now startle - not overly easily, but probably when most normal people would. Funny thing is, now that my kids are getting what they wanted - a startle reaction - they don't try much any more.

Avoiding certain things, for instance eating fewer meals in my case,is like jumping out of the frying pan nto the fire. I Have to eat as frequent as possible, because i am hypoglycemic, and that goes back to the same adrenal issue,so i have to eat to regulate my insulin levels. If i do not i get thde lightheaded dazed and confused symptoms. I am gonna lessen my vitc intake just to see if my adrenal issues do improve. Thanks for sharing this info with everyone. I am gonna go to the adrenal forumn on yahoo, and see what they think about the whole vitc deal.
