Hi, Do any of you have any advice on antidepressants? I am having to use a medication called Advair because my asthma has gotten so bad. The medicine contains inhaled steroids and always causes anxiety and depression in me,plus it makes me manic feeling. Hopefully I'll not have to use the Advair for long but I have to do something about the depression. Any suggestions?

My advice on antidepressants is that you don't take them. Instead of helping depression they can make you permanetly depressed. Check this link out http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/toxicity-brain-damage.htm I've used most of them like Paxil, Celexa, Zoloft, and Paxil. I've never finished the treatment for none of them. My longest was less than a month. If you want something more natural use DHA or 5-HTP powder. Good luck.

Hi Alison, I've been down the road of antidepressants and was put on many different ones and alll I got from them were side effects and any initial improvements disappeared. Though, if a person needs them and one works, then sometimes it is necessary to keep them going. I gave up myself and was close to suicide. Not once did I attribute my depression to toxicity of mercury and candida, until I was put on a diet that excluded sugar, yeast, gluten grains. I went through hell as my body was basically trying to eliminate the toxins and my head felt like it woudl explode as the toxins were literally coming out of my brain. I also craved the very things I was not allowed to eat and I was weeping from the craving. I held on and finally got through it and improved. THe depression lifted and I felt alive again. Howevr, this was years ago before I had other things occur to my health which have happened since and harmed me far more. I've had to go on this diet again, because I had let it slip a little and didn't realise these other things that had occured were hurting me enough to hwere I had to go on this diet strictly in order to alleviate some symptoms. So I did and it helped. It's hasn't cured me, but it is definitely a help. One lady on a candida website has the best diet I know of for candida, but also for detoxing the body of all sorts of things. She claims that her diet and fats and protein alone can reduce candida (eliminate it), plus chelate out heavy metals. I'm dubious about the heavy metal claim, but she is adamant it works if a person follows it properly and oddly enough, there are people on their claiming that it's helped them no end and one is saying that her hair test for mercury, since dong the diet has shown that mercury is coming out of her since the diet was used. My view is, that the mercury that woudl come out from this diet etc alone, would be mercury that is more readily available for excretion like blood/tissue mercury and the body being aided by the diet, able to rid itself easier of toxins, would more readily eliminate metals. But I do not believe it is a cure for brain and deep organ mercury personally, as I think a person in that situation would need more proper chelation to strongly pull out the deeply imbedded mercury. But the diet is definitely something to look at. Her website is http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/candidasupport/If you click on that link, you can go check out the files and links sections and have a nosy at what it's about and what it can do for a person's health, including those of us who are very toxic and/or metal toxic. The best and safest chelation for mercury that I've heard of so far (i'm sure there are others that work just fine for people too), but this is one I know of, is on this website - http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/frequent-dose-chelation/So that is another option to look at if you want to. I consider both those sites for information invaluable for a person who is toxic with candida and mercury (both usually go hand in hand). And are looking for a good solid and tested information ground. I hope this might help and sorry if this is not related to what you're going through or you are already doing some of it. But if any of the info is of help, it'll be worth checking out.

I am on Celexa, and I have been for years. I was in a very emotionally abusive and draining relationship, and was to the point of suicide. I finally picked myself up off of the floor, and got help, because no one else was going to do it for me, and frankly no one cared. At the time, you never heard of being "mercury toxic". In fact, several years ago was the first I had ever heard of it, and even though I wondered about it, I dismissed the fact that I could possibly have it. I have been on several different antidepressants, and have found the Celexa works the best for me. I have tried to wean off of them several times, but by 30 days after I stop taking them, I crash and burn. My husband was very against antidepressants when I met him. He encouraged me to stop taking them, and told me it couldn't possibly be that bad. I totally cracked, and he said he didn't even know me anymore. He said it was a difference of "night and day" when I was on them, and when I was off. I also took them during my last 2 pregnancies. My doctor said it was better to risk taking it, than to be the "disaster" I was without them. I know that someday when I have all of my amalgams out, and get on my road to recovery, I will not need them anymore. Thank God my husband just got a new job, and I will finally have health and dental insurance. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> At least that will help me start getting some of my problems taken care of. My point is, if you try the natural methods, and it's just not working for you, you might need an actual anitdepressant. As bad as my health is right now, and the problems in my life, I would be back to being suicidal if I didn't take them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I don't ever want to go there again. When I get the amalgams out, and start a chelation program, I will try stopping them again.
BTW, our doctor just prescribed Celexa to my husband for anxiety (and he's actually considered taking it....don't forget he was against antidepressants) and he is on Advair too. Hmmm. I never thought about a connection there. You say you don't want to be on Advair for long, but I warn you not to quit it "cold turkey" either. My husband did when his script ran out and his insurance no longer wanted to cover it. His asthma got WORSE, and I researched it on the internet and found out that it's not good to just stop taking it like that. Just thought I'd let you know.

Hi there, yes, sometimes a person will need an antidepressant and they will need to be on it indefinitely, even if to act as a kind of bandaid for their mind, whilst they embark on mercury removal/chelation.
It's about holding the broken brain together, while you go about detoxing it. Many mercury people are complete basket cases, some are dead from suicide, some in mental hospitals and many of us are just trying to get through life in whatever way we can, howver messed up we are.
So whether medication or natural, whatever helps you cope, will be necessary.
A person should do all those things if they help, plus eat the right things and avoid what they know is not healthy or toxic or allergic, plus begin to get the mercury out of them.
Mercury in the brain can puppet a person to such an extent, they can almost undergo a personality change and can be schitzophrenic in nature. If an antidepressant drug can hold that back, or at least act as a crutch? Then take it.
Problem is mercury toxic people tend to get more side effects than others, so there is usually little that they can tolerate. St John's Wart can help and that is a natural herb. But I do not know if it's for severe depression, probably more mild depression, but could be worth a try.

I understand what you are saying totally. I go day to day seeming like i am fighting against myself constantly, sort of like i have no control over my own body and mind. Noone will ever understand unless they've been through it. I have refused to take pharmacuetical anti depressants, because they are toxic, and you more than likely will become dependent on them, but i am now willing to try something natural, just to get through the day. Is ther anything that is highly recommended, that i may not be aware of.
