Antioxidants are extremely important for people with mercury poisoning. Mercury causes oxidative damage to the body, and antioxidants such as vitamin C and E help block this damage from occurring. It's also important to note that mercury interferes with vitamin C activity within the body, which means that mercury toxic people typically need higher than normal vitamin C supplementation. I use and recommend a vitamin C supplement that contains "bioflavonoids" like Vitamin C - Citrus Bioflavonoids Vitamin E is typically found with selenium, a very important trace mineral that, according to research, appears to bind to mercury to help prevent it from causing damage. Of course, vitamin E itself is an important and powerful antioxidant that helps to block the oxidative effects of mercury. More recent research has found that vitamin E is actually made up of 8 substances, so look for a supplement that contains all 4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols for optimum results. I use and recommend Vitamin E Complete with Selenium You can always add additional antioxidants for their added health benefits, such as Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), Carotenes (Caroteoid Blend) and/or Proanthocyanidins from Grape Seed and Pine Bark Extract (Grapine)
