Hi Sandi, I'm not surprised your friend won't give up her junkfood. The addiction to sugar can be compared apparently to the addiction to cocaine.
I've had the experience of going off sugar years ago, to where I paced the kitchen in tears and I was pulling some of my hair out. I had headaches and I though my head would explode. All that from trying to give up sugar. But at that time, the toxins from eliminating sugar (and gluten and yeast) began to loosen and explode literally out of my head.
Once that was over, the improvement was nothing short of incredible (at that stage when I didn't have all the problems I hve now). My hair changed, my skin and eyes changed. They became younger looking, healthy and my depression was literally gone.
All from giving up sugar, yeast and gluten (wheat etc). The intial effort defeats most people and they cannot keep it up. If only they could battle it out for a few weeks, then the cravings practically disappear.
I wish I coudl get those improvements now with my efforts, but I can't. I have too many things holding my immune system down to really respond to much. Though I HAVE to stick to the diet regardless because I get worse if I don't.
But to know some people could end up getting such an incredible improvement if they made an honest effort to eliminate sugar, yeast and gluten, it's tragic to think that food takes over someone's life to where they cannot bear the thought of not eating certain things. What would they prefer? I find it odd that they prefer their illness, rather than the discomfort of giving up these foods. But that's how addictive it is.
