PPS lack of serotonin is thought to be a major cause of the mental symptoms. So taking foods that boosts serotonin can help the symptoms. One way of doing this is to eat tryptophan foods like bananas. There are other foods but I can't remember them off hand. Merucry seems to interfer with serotonin and nerve connections, which in some people causes OCD and in others depression.

Also, on the subject of conventional medicine, I really don't think their form of treatment is that effective because it's a physical brain problem, not so much psychological i.e. the person obviously has no control over the phobias, so while therapy might be helpful in how to cope with the attacks, I think it is extremely limited as a method of "cure" because as long as mercury is attacking the brain and causing anxiety, the person will find something else to panic about once a previous panic trigger has been dealt with (in my humble opinion as a sufferer). For this reason, I have opted not to have conventional treatment, aswell as concerns over the drugs. I'm hoping that getting the fillings out will help the remaining problems. After so long of exposure and damage being done, I am doubtful of full recovery and just grateful for any improvements I should get.

Russ, if you read this, I think it would be really useful to add a section on OCD to the list of conditions on the main index, as there are so many of us here with symptoms of it. We could then put up things that help or don't etc.
