yes this most definately is mercury or other metals. Do you sometimes experience extreme panic or anything else that sends your nervous system into hyperdrive, or do you get really paranoid about things? if so I'd say you are copper poisoned too and must take zinc. I found magnesium taurate helped with the obsessiveness that mercury caused, dunno whether it was the magnesium or taurine that helped, prolly both. If you think you are copper poisoned it is critical that you get this sorted out too..

Dear Joey I'm still not sure about the Mercury, but definately think Copper is a big issue. I recently found out that one of my relatives had Wilsons disease, so I have to get this checked out obviously because its iinherited, but then I cant understand why I havnt suffered before. Anyway I'll take your advice, have been taking zinc but seem to have a problem with Magnesium. How are you doing?

Hi Tracy. I've had OCD since I was about 11 or 12. It's like you describe, only I would get panic attacks and so forth, and ritual compulsions. I put it all down to mercury as I got the OCD in direct relation to having the fillings put in, and can trace my history of OCD symptoms indirect relation to dental history.
The counts/tic/ mental disturbances of OCD are symptoms that I have just kind of learnt to live with over the past 20 years, but they are intrusive, and I would like them to be gone. The ritualist ones were the hardest for me, at the time I had intense OCD (it got better when I stopped getting fillings, got my braces out and gave up fish).
There are times that the symptoms are better than others. At the moment they are playing up after all the removals I've had. I'm hoping they will go soon. It can drive me crazy, I just try to fight them. But I do hope that eventually, even if it takes 10 years, the symptoms wil,l fade. Every cell in our body is renewed every seven years, so there is hope of the body healing itself to some degree, and with care, once the fillings are gone.
I don't personally think I have copper-poisoning, as for me the OCD started with the fillings, but nuts and chocolate can be a problem if you have too much copper already, or supplements with copper in them. I eat a small amount of nuts for porotein and omega 3 (walnuts are good source) and chocolate, but I avoid copper supplements or foods with added copper (which you can get at health shops as some people are deficient). Also avoid copper saucepans etc. Still can't find glass saucepans so am going to have to get stainless steel as next best thing. Not sure what I have at the moment.
OCD is one of the severest conditions that mercury can cause, along with MS and other serious mental disorders that seriously impact quality of life.

PS conventional treatment for OCD is drugs and therapy, where they try to get you to get over your phobias. While some people have been helped by the drugs and therapy, I have yet to hear of someone being cured of it. According to conventional medicine, OCD is incurable. However, I have heard of people being cured of the condition by getting their fillings out. One guy had his fillings out and some therapy and was cured.
Not everyone who has OCD has fillings, but I'm not convinced that mercury is not the underlying cause, because they may have had exposure in vaccines or from fish.
My mother has OCD but didn't always have it, and I put it down to the fillings (us sharing the same genetics).
There is a site called stuckinthedoor which is for OCD sufferers. I registered once but have never participated.

PPS lack of serotonin is thought to be a major cause of the mental symptoms. So taking foods that boosts serotonin can help the symptoms. One way of doing this is to eat tryptophan foods like bananas. There are other foods but I can't remember them off hand. Merucry seems to interfer with serotonin and nerve connections, which in some people causes OCD and in others depression.
Also, on the subject of conventional medicine, I really don't think their form of treatment is that effective because it's a physical brain problem, not so much psychological i.e. the person obviously has no control over the phobias, so while therapy might be helpful in how to cope with the attacks, I think it is extremely limited as a method of "cure" because as long as mercury is attacking the brain and causing anxiety, the person will find something else to panic about once a previous panic trigger has been dealt with (in my humble opinion as a sufferer). For this reason, I have opted not to have conventional treatment, aswell as concerns over the drugs. I'm hoping that getting the fillings out will help the remaining problems. After so long of exposure and damage being done, I am doubtful of full recovery and just grateful for any improvements I should get.
Russ, if you read this, I think it would be really useful to add a section on OCD to the list of conditions on the main index, as there are so many of us here with symptoms of it. We could then put up things that help or don't etc.

PPPS, lol, magnesium deficiency has been linked to OCD. It can be difficult to find the right magnesium supplement, though. I'm still trying. Oxide is supposed to be not good (not sure why) but it was the one I could most tolerate. There is magnesium citrate, which made me ill (as I can't tolerate citrus) and there are others. I currently have a chelated form of magnesium from Holland and barrett, but it's too big to swallow, so I have to leave it in water to dissolve (tastes gross) and I have consequently only taken it a couple of times.

im doing really really well thanx tracy, partly because I'm taking alpha lipoic acid at the moment and really seems to be hitting the nail on the head for me. I think one of the main reasons why people get sick on ALA is that they don't sort out their copper issues first, which means that their body will be compromised in several ways , including digestion, and therefore will not be able to rid the mercury and other heavy metals effectively. being severely deficient in zinc is enough to make the body dysfunctional, but the toxic levels of copper itself are so much worse for you. I think for you it is really important to concentrate on copper at the moment if you are displaying these symptoms, and balance out your zinc/copper levels.
What I did to rid myself of copper is take zinc with every meal during the day, this alone will make you feel better. Remember to start off slow with the zinc cause taking too much to start off with will severely stir up copper. I took a zinc complex that had molybdenum, chromium, magnesium, b6 and manganese in it, of which all help to rid the body of copper. Taurine is also helpful, and will calm down the nervous system too! if you have problems with digestion then you may find that replenishing zinc will really really help you, as it is essential for digestive function (believe me I found that liquid zinc basically cured my digestive problems). Don't be discouraged if magnesium causes a bad reaction, however if it really makes you depressed after a fair time of taking it, something is not right and the type you are taking may be not the right one for you. I found that amino acid chelates were the worst type. The good ones I found were orotate, taurate and to a lesser extent, citrate.
