Hi Guys,

Has anybody here ever tried supplementing Glutathione? Ive heard its a good route to take to aid detox but a little worried about the side-effects if any? Has anybody experienced any good or bad results from it???

Thanks

Hi, I know that in Andy Cutler's book "amalgam illness, diagnosis and treatment", he does not recommend glutathione! This is what he says "Supplementary glutathione itself is of very little value since your gut should digest it. Ifyour gut is not digesting it you will soon start taking other things to make your gut digest it because letting undigested things like glutathione into your bloodstream will soon cause major allergy problems".

As far as I know, he believes it redistributes mercury also and can make things worse.

I think there are ways of increasing the glutathione levels without taking direct glutathione.

vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium etc, plus if you can tolerate it, NAC (N-acetyl cysteine).

but not cysteine itself as a supplement, or methionine, both these redistribute mercury and can make people very very ill. But N-acetyl cysteine is a bit different and can help increase glutathione in the body.

But some don't tolerate it too well, so you can only try and see what your reactions are. But definitely I would not take direct glutathione.

hope that helps a bit.

Bex

Thought it was my hormones again but i havn't had it this bad since before removal, thanks for the post, dont feel so scared anymore. How have you been feeling?

Hi Tgoss, sorry for what you're going through. For sure it'll most likely be the glutathione that has done that to you. Just another one of those things that spin mercury anywhere and everywhere. Garlic does it to me so badly I cannot even give a description. So do other sulfur amino acids like cystine and methionine. Stay away from all those things in any form of supplements. Foods contain some, but that's normal and in normal small natural amounts that the body is able to use better.

No you're not a fool, we all do this stuff. It's frightening becuase it's too easy to get worse. I have done the most stupid stuff you would not believe it, but now I try and use that to warn others from making the same mistakes.

Um with this viral infection I've had, I've suffered pretty badly with it and the first time have had to get medical intervention as my body is not fighting the infection. So am now on antibiotics and I feel for the first time in weeks, something "might" be improving. Hopefully it'll go completely.

Other than that, I'm having ups and downs. DMSA is the way I go for removing mercury, but I have to take it appropriately and stick to the candida diet. Other than that, I don't know what more I can do really.

I'm possibly getting dental work done soon and maybe getting cerec porcelain put in. I'm nervous about it, but I need to get things done as many of my composites are old and shrinking and need redoing, as well as most being incompatible. I just hope it'll be ok for me, plus might be getting cavitation surgery done. I'm scared because of the mercury vapor in the dental office that makes me so horribly sick anytime I walk into an office, so I'm kind of in a catch 22 situation right now.

anyway, that's what i'm dealing with right now. Hope you get over this reaction and things improve for you.

Bex.

Hello again,

Im so happy you're feeling like something is improving, ive really been praying for you to find the strength and courage you need to carry you further on this journey. As for the mercury vapour making you ill, perhaps, as scary as it is, it is just something you'll have to do, try stay focused on the end result, and how good you WILL feel once this hell is all over.

Have they tested you for compatibility for Cerec? Will you be ok with it? they dont do those tests here so unfortunately compatible or not, i just had to bite the bullet and go for it. It is apparently the best material available and so far so good, until i was stupid enough to take a supplement without checking first LOL.

Feeling a tiny bit better today, gone a few hours without crying and dont feel so uncomfortable in my own skin anymore, yesterday i thought i was going to die, infact i wanted to die Its been six months since removal and i read here somewhere that you can have a lapse in symptoms after six months, know anything about that???? And i just wanted to ask you, i definately think i should go on a candida diet, do you know where i can find one to follow, dont have the strength to search myself, maybe you know?

Good luck with that viral infection my frined. Take care and God Bless

Hi Tgoss, thanks for the encouragement. Stupidly, I have been eating more sugar than usual and got sicker today and the viral symptoms get worse and I start coughing and all the symptoms begin to intensify, so I'm not overly happy with myself right now (still taking antibiotics). I just hope I haven't stuffed things up.

Yeah, definitely. About six months after removal (or longer for some), Many, in fact most people begin to worsen. It's known as the second phase of suffering . I've read about it many times now and I've experienced it myself (long ago when I had amalgams). I had them all removed and got worse immediately following my last removal because I swallowed mercury, so was poisoned at that time and had tremors and was made very ill. However, I did improve from it later on.

Nothing prepared me for the second stage of suffering that was about to hit me. I had NO idea this could happen. Once all amalgams have been removed, some people feel the same or some feel better and think they're cured or symptoms can go into remission (some do get worse though if they've been directly overexposed to vapor during removal). At any rate, about half a year later, due to having had no more daily exposure to mercury from having amalgams, the body begins to recognise this and instead of being in "storage mode", will start to go into "dumping mode" and will begin to dump it's stored mercury back into the blood stream.

This phenomenon can devastate people. Because the mercury that's been stored/absorbed all those years starts to leak back out and fill you right up. It's like being repoisoned and can make a person feel even worse than they felt WITH amalgams in their teeth.

So, the way to help this and speed this process up is getting hold of DMSA (you can get it online) and taking about 25 mg of it (more or less, depending on a person's tolerance) and taking it every four hours around the clock (even throughout the night) for about 3 days (or longer, up to a week) and taking a few days break and repeating this cycle over and over for a few months until levels of mercury are reduced.

Once a person has reduced their blood/tissue mercury after months of DMSA, they can add alpha lipoic acid to the regime (can still take DMSA at the sametime, or can use alpha lipoic acid on its own if they want, but better taken with DMSA to help with side effects etc). Taken the same way (or even more often, every 3 hours in some cases) and used 3 days on and 3 days off and taken like that basically until hte person is completely cured. This can take six months - two years or so. Most feel better pretty quickly, but have to keep using it to make sure that al lthe mercury is removed, or it can build up again because it's still leaking out of the organs. So it's good to continue chelating for about a year or so AFTER you think you're cured to make certain.

This is the probably the safest mercury detox I have heard of so far.

And the candida diet? That can be essential to help health and symptoms also. You basically stop eating any sugar at all, stop eating any foods with yeast and any foods with gluten (wheat, rye, barley, oats etc).

You may have to limit or eliminate fruit and milk also due to the natural sugars, though some people can still include them on a limited basis. Those who are worse, may need to eliminate them completely until they have things more under control.

Candida usually goes hand in hand with mercury poisoning. it can cause enough symptoms on its own to cause enough misery, let alone alongside mercury toxicity. So some people increase their misery by allowing candida to remain at too higher levels in their body.

If you eliminate those above things, the body is then able to begin reducing candida naturally. The candida will start to starve to death gradually, it will get sick and begin to die. When this happens a person can feel pretty revolting sometimes because the yeast cells will be released into the system and disgarded and can make you feel worse for a while until the body has eliminated it.

I basically stick to eating the following foods: Plain acidophilus yoghurt, some raw nuts (brazil and almonds), meat, vegetables (limit or eliminate white potatoes though), limited cereal foods (like some corn maybe, some brown rice, not too much), eggs etc. I drink water or herbal tea and don't add milk to anything. I eat a piece of fruit if I can sometimes, but not if I'm particularly bad.

I hope that helps a little bit. Its hard to try and balance everything, but it is crucial. If I don't stick to this diet, I go down hill even further and things can get far worse because sometimes you do not know whether the depression comes from candida overgrowth or mercury or both.

DMSA is crucial too, it will start to reduce the mercury leaking back into your blood stream.

(glad to hear you're feeling a bit better though, I'm sure if was the glutathioine, but you might be also getting that second stage of suffering too).

It's horrible to try and control symptoms with this toxicity! Makes grown men cry. That's how horrible this poison is.

God bless.

PS, about the cerec porcelain? "apparently" I am compatible with it according to a blood test, but there are different blocks of cerec porcelain, so hope my dentist will be using a block that I'm compatible with.

But yep, according to this dentist and any that I've spoken to, it's one of the best materials in dentistry. more than one has told me it's the closest they can find to human enamel, does not leach out it's components and is the most compatible material so far.

Hopefully they're right! I don't have amalgams, but I have incompatible composites that need to be taken out.

Thank you so much!!

I cant believe how clued up you are on all this. Thanks for the advise and im relieved to hear that dentists on your side of the world say that about cerec too. Thought maybe it was just some dodgy product used here LOL. Whew! After our last chat about DMSA i called my doc to ask her what dosage each cap of DMSA she gave me is, she said 250mg's, i nearly died, could that be right, scared me off again so now its collectiong dust in my cupboard. I cant afford to order from overseas right now if this is a relapse i'll have to take the plunge.

Anyways i was searching for info on how to combat this severe PMS ive been cursed with and came across something that may be able to help your viral infection, the sight is: http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/hydrogen_peroxide_inhalation.html.

If the antibiotics dont help i suspect that your Dr may prescribe an antibiotic that falls under the class of fluoroquinolones, (usually prescribed when all else fails) ,please dont go this route, these things are lethal and both me and a family member had severe reactions both physical and mental to these things, there are many types that fall under this class so please be careful Bex. Check it out first. HOPEFULLY what you have now will kick it into touch. Please can i ask your advise on a few things, if your tired of me harrasing you just say and i'll stop asking so many questions

For the PMS ive read that the following supplements are good at combating its effects but what i want to know is should mercury toxic people take them. They are

Conjugated linoleic acid
Calcium
Vitamins B6 - I react very badly to B12 (had to stop my monthly injections cause they were to terrible for words)
Any idea if these are "safe" for "us" ???

P.S Im going to try the candida diet and see what happens, hope i can handle it! Sugar and carbs really make me feel way worse its just so hard not to have them cause the bugers are everywhere Im off to bed, till tomorrow. Have a fabulous Sunday Mwah

Been taking EPO for past two weeks - heard its good - will see what happens.

Hi Tgoss, you're very welcome. It helps to know that I might be of some help because I've had this for SO long and done so many mistakes, that I've wasted so much of my life on doing the wrong thing.

The DMSA dosage you got is way too high, but you can split up the pills into smaller doses. Just open a capsule up, tip out the powder and divide it up into what doses you want and keep each dose wrapped up in a bit of paper ready for you when you want to take it.

That way they won't be wasted. I know it's tedious though, but it's worth trying. DMSA is pretty expensive, so I wouldn't want to waste it. and yeah ordering from overseas might be a bit too expensive. I don't order it from overseas either because of that reason. I can get 50 mg capsules here, so I divide it in half to use 25 mg. But I'm going to try the full 50 mg.

Can you find out if you can order lower doses?

The stuff for the PMS? That sounded just fine, nothing there that I could see would be wrong for mercury or disturb mercury in anyway.

Thanks for the advice, I am taking an antibiotic called Augmentin, so I hope it's ok. But I've relapsed a bit and feel worse again, after eating sugar etc. Just hope I have ruined everything

Thank you for the link for the viral infection. That's a thought too. problem is, I have so much Im paying off right now and paying for, that I don't think I can take onboard anything. That dental treatment is going to wipe me out I know it.

Yeah the cerec porcelain? I have been in touch with quite a number of top biologic dentists who use it and one said to me, out of anything, that would be your best bet. Another said that he knows everything that goes into it, he trains other dentists how to use it and told me that it's the closest to human enamel and so far, nothing really comes close to it. He said it's the most biocompatible material to date.

So you should feel pretty reassured

I hope it works out for me!

Yeah definitely try the candida diet! I warn you that after a while of doing it, you might find that the candida will get sick and start to panic and you will get cravings to eat sugar etc because it wants to survive and when it begins to starve, it gets desperate and will try and force you to eat the bad stuff. You might get a few headaches and feel pretty lousy for a time, though you might just improve, or you might not notice much difference. Keep me posted though if you do decide to do it.

Your questions are not annoying in the least! It's a pleasure to help if I ever can.

And thanks, hope you have a great Sunday too!!

Bex.

Glutathione is best taken along with a real chelator. It does mix up mercury. I had two challenge tests, and the one when I had a glutathione injection yielded 50% more mercury than the one without.

I am really confused about the glutathione thingymajig. My present doctor who actually alerted me to the fact that I may be mercury toxic really really wants me to go onto glutathione. She thinks that aside from selenium that it is the most important supplement for me to take. I have the Anydy Cutler book so I also know of his view.

I seem to tolerate sulphur foods very well and have no problem with taurine so maybe it would be fine for me. For those who are sulphur sensitive, maybe not. My supplement shelf is so huge at the moment that I think I might leave it alone for a while anyway.

I think I am going to start rattling soon !!!! By the way Bex hope you get over your lurgy flu soon. Also, Bex what do you do employment wise? With your knowledge of mercury toxicity etc etc you should set up your own clinic as a specialist advisor to all the patients who go through biological / holistic dentists in your area.

I was actually thinking about it myself. If I am happy with the results a year or two down the track after my amalgam removal, I was actually thinking about the possibility of setting up a clinic as a nutritional / supplement advisor for heavy metal toxic patients.

I do however have a Naturopathy and Nutrition Diploma which may make things a little easier. I have just noticed that here in Brisbane the holistic / biological dentists are absolutely just flat out looking after their patients with dental care and don't have the time to devote to giving comprehensive advice about nutrition and supplements pre and post amalgam removal.

Who knows, it may be a little niche one day. Really depends on how passionate I become about the whole issue.

Hi Rachie, I'm not employed and I don't really have any qualifications as such. I've missed out a lot of my years with illness and withdrawn basically from most aspects of life.

Thanks for the compliments. I wish I had more indepth knowledge about this stuff, but I have more surface knowledge and it's frustrating because I wish I knew more and was able to concentrate and do something with my life.

But all I can do is get on here and pass on a few things I've learned myself (from my own mistakes/experience and some reading). I'm too ill to do much more. I was healing at one point years ago, but so many things happened since outside of the mercury, that it threw me into a chronic state of ill health, so now I just get online and read.

When you go through it yourself and your body reacts horribly to almost anything, your forced into a different kind of education and when you can't do much with your own life in the outside world, the internet is kind of an outlet and opportunity to pass on a few things.

I hope you can heal from this and help people like us! I like the idea you have and hope it becomes reality.

Bex.

Dr. Rogers suggests using glutathione, but she does also stress that not just any will do, some will break down in digestion. She reccommends reduced glutathione.

I have been using that along with selenium and others, but I also do well with sulfur.

Bex, you really seem to belileve in DMSA, but I have just been reading up on that and it says that it contains surlfur. Wonder why people who don't do well on sulfur can do well on DMSA? Any thoughts?

We need sulfur to remove metals, just not too much at once, the amount has to be controlled or it will move out too much mercury at one time and that can be very dangerous.

According to my biological dentist's instructions, I took glutathione, along with a bunch of other stuff, for the first six months after replacement (and for two weeks before). The other two weird-sounding ones were N-Acetyl Cysteine and Methionine. And I took a lot of vitamins which I am still taking- mostly the usual ones. Lately, I have added taurine and extra selenium and zinc. I did quite alright when taking the glutathione. Had some good days and some bad ones, but nothing I couldn't handle. I also have an easy time with sulpher, as far as I can tell.

All I know is once upon a time, though sulfur did make me feel worse from mobilising mercury at the time I took it, there was NEVER the effects I get now and I would not be long termly damaged from it at all and did sometimes improve from moving a bit of mercury out, though it's not recommended to go about mobilising mercury everywhere to achieve that. Can do some damage if it's not done in a controlled manner, but I coped. Since a bacterial infection that did permanent damage to me in 2003 and I suffered ever since, I cannot handle anything anymore. I assume it damaged the blood brain barrier, as any exposure to toxins, I get almost immediate brain symptoms and the damage tends to be long term/permanent. So if I take something now that mobilises mercury wildly (like garlic supplementation), I tend to get dramatic and horrible effects that just don't tend to subside.

I guess now being in a much more compromised situation, I'm a good guinea pig to find out what these things can do, but I don't particularly want to test myself with ANYTHING anymore that I'm not sure of. Sure if it happens I can warn others of possible side effects, but sometimes it is downright severe and I don't honestly want to take chances again with taking any random stuff and oneday turn around and say "hey, just tried this, ended up in a mental hospital, but thought I would pass on to you not to try it yourself" I'm not going near anything now, except things I know about and have been tried and tested and have been ok with me. Anything else is suspect, I get scared because my body goes into a tail spin over anything. I wish I could trade it in, brain and all.
