With the symptoms I now have left, I am now inclined to think that I have thyroid problems, most likely overactive due to graves disease. I am just assuming, but after reading up on this disease and the symptoms it feels like I'm reading up about myself, again! Its just like I felt when finding out about histadelia. Its funny, the treatment I have followed for histamine and methylation imbalance has helped a lot, but it still feels like there is something there, and I may have found it.

Symptoms of graves which I have include really warm moist skin, especially the neck and around the thyroid, lightning fast metabolism ( i eat so much but end up either staying the same weight or losing weight). I have always thought that the lump under my voice box ( the thyroid) felt weird, uncomfortable and possibly bigger than it should. My hands are shaky, my toes constantly numb, my eyes have been weird lately and generally fit in with the eye symptoms of hyperthyroid, can't tolerate heat very well at all, depression, fatigue, skin changes, general swollen face and so many more.

Anyone else suffer from graves or hyperthyroid on this board? I am seeing a docter today to discuss with them, I have had thyroid hormone tests done before and they came back normal but I have heard this may not be the only indication..

Check out the last sentence.....

"Toxic metals can contribute to any imaginable illness. For example, lead that replaces calcium in the bones can contribute to weakened bones and osteoporosis. Cadmium that replaces zinc in the arteries causes inflammation and hardening of the arteries. Iron that replaces zinc and other minerals in the pancreas, adrenals and elsewhere can contribute to impaired blood sugar tolerance and diabetes. Copper that replaces zinc in the brain is associated with migraine headaches, premenstrual syndrome, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and much more. Mercury and copper that replace selenium in various tissues impairs the conversion of T4 to T3, contributing to thyroid imbalances."

Most all of us have either hypo or hyper thyroid problems that should resolve themselves with chelation...it can be very tricky and even dangerous to try and treat with medication. Extra virgin coconut oil is supposed to very good for thyroid support...it sure helped me turn a corner and it is a natural antifungal too.

Best luck,
Sandi

Hope this helps.

I had an overactive thyroid in my teens and had to have an operation to remove most of it. i had terrible symptoms, i dont know how i coped really. My whole life was on fast foreward, everyone thought i was mad, i was so nervous i would shake incontrollably, i couldnt control my bowels which was embarrassing at work, also my eyes bulged right out. i had to have beta blockers for my heart rate was 170 a minute, it was that bad. I had a check up at a private doctor and he told me i had recently had a heart attack which i knew nothing about, this was when i was very young. Its hard to believe that i managed to have 2 children and a relationship.

I too had over active thyroid about 3 years ago, took medication for a year and I've been fine ever since (even though I had my amalgams replaced 4 months ago)
My symptoms included: feeling really hot all the time, having a ferocious appetite, eating all the time and getting thinner and thinner, my face seemed to freeze and I found it hard to smile, whole body shakes, nervousness, a horrendous stressed feeling all the time, increased energy and needing to do things really quickly- basically my whole system was on fast forward. Horrible.

Yeh, i forgot to mention feeling hot and eating like crazy and getting skinnier by the minute. Also my periods were really messed up, i would have a really heavy one every 3 mths, i had to go to A&E once because i thought i was having a miscarraige. I can honestly say that overactive thyroid is so much worse than underactive.

I was diagnosed with Graves two years ago, and needless to say suffered unimaginably from anxiety, insomnia, weight loss, night sweats and a string of psychological symptoms. [[I had been vacinated againts hepatitis B just 2 months prior to diagnosis and lived on a staple diet of canned tuna fish]] After having tried various alternative therapies without much improvement (I would not poison my body any further with drugs or have my thyroid surgically removed), I decided to have my amalgams removed. Now two months later and with one chelation therapy behind, I have picked up 4 kilos!!!! and feel great. No more palpitations, sleepless nights, shaky hands etc.

Anyone with Graves out there should seriously consider having there amalgams removed and following a chelation therapy (intravenous or with cilantro & supplements) .

I always knew my condition was due to over-toxicity but no matter how well I ate and how many regular detoxes I did, no improvement came. Mercury is tricky to get out of the system, but once you do succeed in getting it out, you'll be very glad you did!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I've had hyperthyroidism for over 13 years. They first diagnosed me with Graves Disease which was treated with Tapozole but later they changed the diagnosis to Hashimotos Thyroditis since I had a high thyroid antibody blood test and would also swing to low thyroid occasionally. I can definitely attest to the fact that an overactive thyroid is much worse than an underactive one having both. I, too, had many of the same symptoms listed above. The heart palpitations and skipped heartbeats would literally drive me crazy. After suffering with major digestive problems since last year, I at first thought it was thyroid related since I was losing so much weight and having constant diarrhea. All of my thyroid tests came back normal, so I began to research other areas. I am now convinced that I am mercury toxic since I have over a dozen fillings for over 35 years. I now have read that autoimmune thyroid disease is directly connected to mercury toxicity. I am almost through removing my fillings and am hoping that not only will my digestive problems be gone but also my thyroid problems. The above post makes me even more hopeful!

Hello I just found out I have hyperthyroidism but I am happy. I did it on purpose I wanted to change and I listened to some CDs. I lost 154 pounds. From 2001 to 2003. I also I kicked my metabolism into high drive but I also became not depressed. I don't sleep and i am never tired or sleepy but if i stay awake for to many days my body becomes very sick from no sleep for to long. So i take medication to help me sleep. i am very excited and so are my doctors they are sending ME to specialist to study me they think i might be able to help others with severe depression like i had for so many years and anxiety. and being over weight. i used some books and CDs. things that are not drugs. if your interested you may contact me at skyblewu@aol.com i would like to help others for free. i don't want to profit off this in any way if i can help others loose weight or not be depressed like i was after something severe I want to help them. My doctor says I am not manic and he does. My medical doctor found something. She is all happy and gave me book i have to read i said i have that she said with all you have done read it again. it is a drug free treatment for depression. the book is called "Feeling Good" the new mood therapy. by David D. Burns, MD, it is the clinical proven from university of Pennsylvania. i ALSO USED ANTHONY ROBBINS STUFF. I WENT OFF ALL MY MEDICATIONS MY DOCTOR IS THRILLED WITH ME. I TURNED INTO HIS START DEPRESSED PATIENT, BECOMING NOT DEPRESSED ANYMORE. I ALSO STOPPED TAKING ALL MEDICATIONS I TAKE FOR ANXIETY. NOW I EAT MORE HEALTHY AND AM MORE ACTIVE LIKE I WAS WHEN YOUNG I, AM 46 AND FEEL 18 AGAIN. EVEN WHEN PEOPLE LOOK AT ME AND MY 12 YEAR OLD THEY THINK WE ARE SISTERS. THEY THINK MY SONS ARE MY HUSBAND. BUT THEY ARE 23 AND 22. NO ONE CAN TELL HOW OLD WE OR I, AM. CONTACT ME I WOULD LOVE TO HELP ANYONE ELSE I CAN IF INTERESTED BUT IF YOU WANT TO COMPLAIN SEND THAT TO COMPLAINTS OF WHO CARES? LOL

I also have hyperthyroidism. I am not taking any medication, but trying to eat more goitrogens such as broccoli, cauliflower, pears, cabbage and turnips. HypOthyroid people are recommended to stay away from these as they interfere with thyroid hormones, but they are recommended for us. I have noticed I feel calmer after eating a couple of turnips very lightly cooked. Cooking by the way, destroys the antithyroid effect.

I am also staying away from high iodene food such as eggs and anything from the sea, included sea salt.

Coconut is recommended for those with hypO, so this I stay away from. I've also reduced exercise as anything which increases metabolism such as exercise and even hot spices will make symptoms worse to someone with an already superhigh metabolism.

I have researched most vitamins and minerals and they all seem to support the production of thyroid hormones, especially selenium, so I have had to cut these out too as they really make my symptoms worse. This one however is a difficult one. Because hypers especially need a good suppliment supply as we burn up nutrients fast.....

There aren't really much good alternative advice on how to treat hyper naturally. I have however read that carnitine reduces the hyper symptoms.

For many here, Hyperthroidism or hypothyroidism is not the main problem but just a side effect. Mercury toxicity can contribute to an overgrowth of candida. Candida overgrowth causes malabsorbtion of minerals. Mineral deficiencies then cause many problems.

My GF's just been diagnosed with Graves, she's just started medication.
I'll pay for her to get her fillings out in a few years, not that i expect it to do any good, mind. But i believe its worth a shot, just incase. I think its just a genetic thing with her, as her grandmother had it all her life.
