Hi Tracy,
Absolutely. It's horrible and I really feel for you.
I have suffered from brain fog for about 18 months now. It's quite hard to describe how I feel but since I've had my amalgams removed (3 months ago) I have had times when it has disappered for parts of the day and more recently for days at a time which has given me hope.
I will try and describe how I feel when the brain fog descends:
My mood changes from being happy to feeling slight panic and depression and I feel like I want to cry all the time.
I find it hard to concentrate and order my day, it's like there's an interference in my thoughts and I just drift from one thing to another getting nothing done.
My feelings become suppressed, apart from the negative ones and I don't feel like being around people (although I've found that it is better to be around people because it takes your mind off what you're going through) I feel like I'm in my own little dark isolated world and I can't penatrate the real world.
I feel like nothing is real, almost like being in a dream or half awake.
My brain feels like someone is squeezing it and slowly turning it around in my head. It's a weird sensation!
Things that seem to bring on the fog are definately exercise. just walking to the bus stop in the morning can bring it on although it could be the car fumes. Also using my mobile.( I was feeling really clear headed this morning until I had a half an hour conversation on the phone and then I could feel it start to happen)
Sugar seems to make it worse as does getting too tired or overworking myself.
I've tried various supplements and Algin is good for reducing symptoms and also milk thistle has helped with me.
Have you had your amalgams replaced Tracey?
Remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. I know that I definately did the right thing in having my amalgams removed and 3 months on the bad days are becoming less which has given me hope and I'm making the most of every moment I feel well and happy.
You will get there too and be a stronger and more incredible person because of what you have been through.
Thank goodness we have this forum. For me it has been a real life saver.
Best wishes
Lucie
