Because it will be several months at a minimum until I am able to have amalgam removal, I would like to know what is the best course of action in the meantime. I have read several posts about various supplements, vitamins, etc., but most were for after removal.
I believe Candida is also an issue for me. However, I am not clear about whether it should be treated before the amalgam removal or after.
Thanks!

I've been mostly in the same situation. I still have some amalgams (have had most of them replaced). In my opinion, the best thing to do is to support your immune system as much as possible i.e. take vitamin c. One problem I have is that I react to citrus, and so I'm just about to try a citrus-free vitamin c.
Cutting out caffeine, limiting sulpher foods, and drinking mostly water on a daily basis may help with the symptoms. Cutting out dairy may also help. This might include eggs, which some people react too.
Some would recommend vitamin e and selenium but I think there is some debate on those. There is also debate on alginate. The best thing is probably to find out what works for you.
I mostly do it through diet and vitamins - I've found it important to get at least RDA of B12, which I take for a general multi-vitamin. Organic food is better than processed, and some people have also found a gluten free diet to be helpful.
Magnesium can also help a lot, although there are many forms of it, so again it's finding the best.
These are just some things I've learnt.

I have Candida as well....there are many opinions and quite the debate on whether or not it is best to treat the mercury first or the candida first.
Before I knew about my mercury toxicity, I treated Candida for over 2 1/2 years using the Whole Approach protocol (it's an online forum dedicated to helping people with candida, but it only helps you with their specific diet and treatment protocol). It really helped for the first 6 months, and then my health stagnated and declined - it was impossible for me to get well from the candida. And that can be typical. Many people believe that you cannot fully heal from candida if you have mercury toxicity.
At the same time, you want to be as strong and healthy as possible before embarking on a mercury detox. So it leaves you in a bit of a catch 22. I really benefited from doing anti-candida diet, and the first stage of the Whole Approach candida cleanse, which is a colon cleanse combined with a natural antifungal. It boosted my immune system, cleaned out a lot of toxins, and made me a bit healthier. But soon after, I regressed (even though I continued with the strict diet, and was trying more intensive natural antifungals - stage 2 of their protocol)...and I know of many other people who had the same reaction that I did.
So I personally feel that starting with a candida cleanse (a gentle one that includes colon/gut cleansing) is the best way to start, and then go into the mercury cleanse. But that's just my opinion. And a couple of warnings to go along with it: 1) Be careful of killing off too much yeast before addressing the mercury issue. For me, killing it off in the gut was extremely helpful, but moving beyond that at all made me very sick. For example, the stage 2 Whole Approach treatment is a antifungal that kills yeast in the blood, outside of the gut - most people cannot handle that stage. And I've read that is the case for most people with mercury issues - it can possibly be dangerous to kill off too much of the yeast if you still have mercury in your system. In addition, it's seems impossible to kill it all off if you have mercury - the mercury prevents you from a full recovery. 2) while I recommend the Whole Approach diet and first stage of their candida cleanse, their forum is run by a Moderator-- they do not really allow any mercury discussion and heavily dissuade everyone from doing a mercury cleanse until all yeast is cleared. But as I see this as impossible (clearing all yeast first), that makes no sense to me. They do not like discussion of candida or mercury products other than the ones they sell. They are supportive of immune-boosting vitamin & supplement discussions though.
And in addition, this can all be highly individual. While cleaning yeast out of my gut greatly helped me, and I think that's a good way to start, that might not be the case for everyone. A friend of mine got more sick from doing the restricitve diet and even the gut/colon candida cleanse, and found she preferred to do the amalgam removal before addressing the candida any further.
So read up on it a lot and see what seems best for you. I just wanted to tell you about my experience, and many others like me, who have struggled to heal from candida and have been unable to because of the mercury. If you have the option to build your immune system and heal your gut first, try to do that, only be very careful of going further than the gut with a candida cleanse.
It's a rough battle, but will be well worth it in the long run. Good luck and I hope you find what works best for you!!
