Hi Steve,

I actually tried opening the Algin capsule and swallowing the powder, thinking that it would get into my system faster. Wow...big mistake!

The minute I took a sip of water to get it down, the Algin turned into this thick gel that I couldn't even swallow. Actually, some of the gel had started to go down my throat and I thought I was going to choke. There was nothing I could do to get this stuff out of my mouth. I couldn't spit it out because it clung to the insides and the roof of my mouth like glue. It must sound very funny, but at the time, it was quite horrible. I tried using a toothbrush to get it out, but had to resort to scraping it off the roof of my mouth.

I wish I would have had my video camera running. I'm sure I was a complete spectacle! I could have won one of those funniest video contests on TV for certain. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Needless to say, I'll be leaving the Algin in its capsules from now on!

I suppose you could try mixing a little Algin into juice or applesauce, etc., but I'm not sure how much you'd be able to get down this way. Algin is unbelievably "gel"-forming.

Plus, based on my own experiments, I absolutely know the Algin is absorbing mercury for me. I've eaten salmon both with and without taking Algin first, and I can definitely tell a HUGE difference.

Let me know if you try the Algin "sans" capsule.
