I had my first visit to the biological dentist yesterday. I was very impressed by the dentist, his demeanour, his knowledge about Mercury poisoning etc etc.
He took some xrays and also found a lot of other issues going on with my teeth that I was unaware of. Because I have been grinding for so many years many of my back molars are literally cracking. He actually showed me on a TV screen. I could see all the stress fractures and cracks as plain as day.
The thing that I am concerned with is, when he tested the currents with the electro thingymajig (sorry can't recall what it is called) all of the fillings except for one registered as negative 2 or negative 3. Only one registered a positive 5 (which I have heard isn't really that bad anyway). He said that I probably don't have any mercury left in those fillings that registered negative.
Is that what this test is all about ? Can it guage how much mercury there is in the filling ? I guess that I was hoping that it would read horribly high amounts so that I can justify spending all this money.
I have all the classic symptoms of mercury poisoning and probably some more. I have had 4 shots of Rhogam vaccine (for Rh- women) which apparently is very high in mercury.
If my problem is more so from the Rhogam I can't chelate it until I get my fillings out anyway. So I guess I will just go ahead and get it done anyway and get all those other dental problems addressed at the same time.
I guess my main question is - just how important is that electro current thing. Prior to yesterday I thought that it's only purpose was to help the dentist decide which quadrant to work on first. ??????

He said that I probably don't have any mercury left in those fillings that registered negative. I'm concerned that the dentist made this statement. Mercury does not simply "go away" from a filling. For example, here is a video from a 25-year old amalgam: http://iaomt.com/smokingtooth.cfmI'm not sure what to say here but I lose confidence in a dentist that believes that mercury can be "gone" after a period of time. The voltages in fillings are caused by what's called the Galvanic action of different metals. It does not require that mercury be present and I don't know why he would think that a negative voltage would indicate no mercury. Is that what this test is all about ? Can it guage how much mercury there is in the filling ? I guess that I was hoping that it would read horribly high amounts so that I can justify spending all this money. No. I don't believe that the amount of mercury remaining in a filling can be determined by surface voltage readings. I have all the classic symptoms of mercury poisoning and probably some more. I have had 4 shots of Rhogam vaccine (for Rh- women) which apparently is very high in mercury. I would see this thread; Rhogam I guess my main question is - just how important is that electro current thing. Prior to yesterday I thought that it's only purpose was to help the dentist decide which quadrant to work on first. ?????? Yes, you're exactly right. That is the only purpose of it, at least as far as I know. I am not sure where your dentist is gettings these ideas but it causes me to question his/her competence.

HI Rachie, I think that is ridiculous too, and if there is little or no mercury left in those fillings, that means they have shrunk and are filled with bacteria that methylates the remaining mercury which is very dangerous. And that bacteria, yeast and other pathogens growing in there can cause many more infections in your body as well.
I would say find another dentist and get them out ASAP...everyone is better off without mercury in their mouth....and I would get them out before they make you any sicker.
Sorry for the bluntness of my words, I hope I don't come across as rude, but I am sick and tired of dentists enabling patients to become sicker. And they don't want to drill them out cause the vapours make them sicker too....they do know better!!! And even if they don't ignorance is no excuse!!!
That is my mercury rant for the day, I hope!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks so much Russ and Sandi for your replies. It makes me feel much better about going ahead with the removal. I will go ahead with the removal with this dentist however. I am afraid that I don't have much choice here in Brisbane. There are only 3 holistic or biological dentists here. You may have heard of Dr Eric Davis. He is often featured on the internet and has many overseas clients.
I couldn't get an initial appointment with him until February next year. I just don't want to wait that long.
I guess the most important thing is that I do trust this dentist to do the removal safely. He uses all the safe removal protocols and has given me the details of a doctor in Brisbane who can assist me with DMSA and DMPS if I ever decide to go that route. Maybe next time I go to see him, I think I had better mention my concerns about his perhaps lack of understanding about galvanisation. This may prompt him to do more study on the subject.
When the dentist was showing me my teeth (superenlarged) on a TV screen, I noticed that underneath some of the fillings that my tooth enamel had a distinct geeny / blue colour. I wonder what causes this ?
Through this great forum and reading Andy Cutler's book I feel that I will be prepared for this journey ahead.
Russ thanks also for the RhoGam thread. It may perhaps be interesting to have a Rhogam poll similar to the Blood Type poll. It was interesting to see a number of women on that thread had indeed experienced RhoGam and are here on an Amalgam / Mercury Forum. Approximately only 6% of women are Rhesus negative and yet it appears that a chunk of us have found our way into a Mercury forum. Mmmm interesting.
Have a fabulous day everyone.
