I have called a dentist that is mercury free. I use to be a dental assistant so I remember a little about the different surfaces of the teeth. Just to try and get an idea of the cost I called and ask how much to replace a one surface amalgam with a composite.
This dentists charges 157.00 for the first surface. So with my husband having several different surfaces on one tooth this could be very expensive. I think a gold crown would not cost any more.
What is the average fee for replacing a one surface amalgam? I am just wanting some compairsons. Thanks, sas

My amalgams cost $190 for each small one and $270 for each large one. This was 6 years ago so prices may have increased some since then. Here are the details of my removal in case it may help: http://herballure.com/mms

Oh and remember there is a huge difference between a dentist who is mercury free and one who pratices biological dentistry. You must insist they use all percautions.

I had a quote from a biologic dentist in Minnesota, and they told me it would be $125 for a small filling, and about $300 for a large one. Using oxygen would be another $50 per hour.
