I have called a dentist that is mercury free. I use to be a dental assistant so I remember a little about the different surfaces of the teeth.
Just to try and get an idea of the cost I called and ask how much to replace a one surface amalgam with a composite.

This dentists charges 157.00 for the first surface.
So with my husband having several different surfaces on one tooth this could be very expensive. I think a gold crown would not cost any more.

What is the average fee for replacing a one surface amalgam?
I am just wanting some compairsons.
