TODAY 8-17-05 I WENT TO A NEW DENTIST WHO IS A MERCURY FREE AND HOLISTIC DENTEST AND THIS IS WHAT I FOUND OUT. FIRST WE SAT DOWN AND HE EXPLAINED ABOUT THE CURRENT EUROPEAN AND UNITED STATES OPPINION ON THE EXCEPTABLE LEVEL OF MERCURY VAPOR TOXICITY LEVEL. EUROPE IS LOWER AT .01 AND THE UNITED STATES EXCEPTABLE LEVEL IS .05 USING A MERCURY VAPOR TESTER. HE DID MY EXAM AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EXAM HE TESTED THE ROOM AND SHOWED THE METER TO ME AND THERE WAS A 0.00 READING AND HE EXPLAINED THAT HE TAKES EXTREME PRECAUTIONS TO KEEP HE DENTAL OFFICE MERCURY FREE WITH SPEACIAL FILTRATION AND PROPER REMOVAL OF MERCURY FILLINGS. HE THEN EXPLANED THAT HE WAS GOING TO TAKE A READING IN MY MOUTH AND THAT THE READING SHOULD BE RELATIVELY LOW BECAUSE I HAD NOT BEEN CHEWING ANYTHING BUT MY LEVEL WAS AT 0.036 AND THE DENTIST SAID THAT WAS VERY HIGH AND THAT HE USUALLY GETS A READING LIKE THAT WITH PEOPLE WITH 12 AMALGAM FILLINGS OR CLOSE TO THAT. HE THEN HAD ME CHEW A PIECE OF GUM FOR A FEW MINUTES AND RECHECKED ME AND THE RESULT WAS 0.069 WITCH HE SAID WAS EXTREMELY HIGH AND THAT MY BODY CHEMISTRY WAS DEFINATELY REACTING TO THE FILLINGS AND RELEASING VERY HIGH LEVELS OF MERCURY VAPORS INTO MY BODY. THAT IS VERY BAD NEWS BUT IT GIVES ME HOPE THAT SINCE FINDING THIS FORUM AND ALL MY SYMPTOMS ARE REALLY BEING CAUSED BY MERCURY POSIONING AND THAT ONCE THE FILLINGS ARE REMOVED THAT I CAN START TO DETOX AND GOD WILLING START RECOVERING FROM MY SYMPTOMS. I AM REALLY GLAD I FOUND THIS DENTIST AND HE EVEN MENTIONED HIGGINS AND CUTLER WHILE WE WERE TALKING IN HIS OFFICE. I AM SCHEDULED TO GET THE ONLY TWO FILLINGS I HAVE LEFT REMOVED ON SEPT 12. I WILL KEEP EVERYONE POSTED ON MY PROGRESS AFTER REMOVAL. THANKS EVERYONE.

This is great news because it does offer hope.

I remember the day I first realized that mercury was (probably) the source of all my problems and was relieved and very hopeful. Fortunately, it was the pivotal point in my health.

I plan on renting a mercury vapor meter myself (I've already priced them) and taking some measurements around my house and around town.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and hope you'll keep us posted on your progress. Just remember, detox is not always pleasant and it can be a long-term project but in the end, it's well worth it.

That's great Bill. I'll bet you must be so relieved. I remember what it felt like to finally have a doctor correctly diagnose the root of all my suffering. It's so reassuring and you know you're not crazy. You realize they are the ones who are crazy, the dentists and most doctors. I remember telling the first doctor I went to after I collapsed that I couldn't even get out of bed to go pee because I had no strength and was so weak and all he kept saying is "all your tests are normal; there's nothing wrong with you"! How can a doctor insist there's nothing wrong with you after what I just told him? Anyway, you're on the right track. Do you have Andy's book yet? By the way, what are your symptoms?

sandra thanks for replying to my post. I do not have the book yet, as for my symptoms it first started as dizziness and has progressed to anxiety, panic attacks, fatigue, muscle spasms, pounding heartbeat, muscle pains, joint pain, sleepy spells, trouble concentrating, loss of memory, high blood pressure ( i am sure that the anxiety could cause high blood press), burning sensations all over but mainly in the head and sholders. thanks for asking

A lot of your symptoms sound like mine as well. I don't know what you currently take for supplements, but Andrew Cutler gives lots of good suggestions in his book for what to take for certain symptoms/problems to help you feel better while you go through detoxification. If you have achiness, muscle, joints, etc. magnesium is very helpful. I take a highly absorbable form called "Natural Calm". It is a powder that you mix with water and drink. I think you'd find it helpful for starters. I personally take Klonopin for my severe anxiety problem which I find very helpful and it is not very addictive.
Keep plugging away and get all the support you need.

Oh, please don't start on Klonopin as it is listed as an addittive drug and I had a friend to take it that made him a lot worse. His environmental Dr. took him off the Klonopin and had him on magnesium (along with some vitamins) IVs to get him up to a good level. I personally can tell the difference with magnesium alone-if you take sufficient amounts. I just kept adding a little more each day until I felt better. I take 340 mg (at night and again in the morning) of ionized magnesium. There are herbs and breathing technics that also help with anxiety.

The holistic dentist I saw was real horrid man. He asked me to fill out a form with what heath problems I get, which I did, trying to be as honest as I could. There was quite a list of things. Then it asked what the causes were, and I put down suspected mercury poisoning from fillings.

I expected him to take a reading of the vapour in my mouth, but he didn't. And when he looked at the form and saw my symptoms and when I talked a bit more about them, he said I most likely have cancer or some other major disease. At one point he virtually told me to shut up and listen to him (in a very nasty voice) and said I don't have much mercury at all. I wouldn't say 4 big fillings and a root filling wasn't much.

I'm looking for another dentist now, but am a little put off by this experience. But I know it's probably mercury doing these things to my body, so I have to get it sorted.

Bill, I am also going to be getting my last two metal fillings out this September-- God willing on the 1st of September.

The day I had the last two metal fillings removed, I craved sitting right next to a fan to breath in as much air as possible. I have this fan that you plug into your car cigarrete lighter, so the whole drive home from the dentist, I had the fan stuck right near my nose all the way home.

At my computer, I didnt have the fan on and I became very tired and sleepy. This I feel was from the mercury vapor caused by the drilling. I can t afford the $ to go to a holistic dentist, so im making my regular dentist use a rubber dam and taking the precautions. Algin has come in handy through each dental visit.

I have had no bad reactions, thank God--but I am detoxfiying myself before and after and only eating healthy foods- and supplementing everything I read to use.- including Algin days after the filling replacements.

the only symptoms so far that I have gotten during the filling removals were that tiredness and need for oxygen, and months earlier, some hair loss in my hair brush because I didnt shampoo/shower right after the dental visit in June.

This last time I showered right after-, and no hair loss. Since then I have been taking MSM supplements, and my hair has thickened back to it's original thickness.

I have been constantly eating raw garlic and sulfur containing root veggies (radishes, onions, etc) and am even craving them throughout this entire Summer. I wont take Cilantro yet -til after the last filling is removed.

I will let you know how it goes the day of my last removal of the remaining 2 mercury fillings and afterwards.

After that comes the scary part of chelating and Mercury dump side effects in between it all. ....yikes!!
