After I had my fillings removed, I went to a heavy metal specialist who gave me Modifylan (a type of seaweed) notorious for removing heavy metals from the body. You can do a search on it. They have a website. It's from Russia. Has anyone ever heard of it?

Here it is... -Organic iodine regulates metabolism and promotes maturation of the nervous system.
-Alginate is a natural absorbent of radioactive elements, heavy metals and free radicals.
-Fucoidan kills cancer cells.
-Laminarin - polysaccharide helpful in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. It exhibits 30% of the anticoagulant activity of heparin. --- Generally good stuff. Note that "Alginate" is basically Algin . Search this page for "Fucoidan": FucoidanHonestly, it's very pricey for what you get. Also, I would recommend that you find out if the product complies with California standards for heavy metals in supplements. This is important. All the best!

Are you saying that Algin and Modifylan are the same thing?

No, not exactly the same thing, but Modifylan does contain sodium alginates which is essentially Algin. I'm sure they include alginates to buffer the effects of the chelators which are in the product.
My personal opinion is that it's really expensive for what you get. I will predict that you will see many more pricey "heavy metal detox" type products come on the market in the upcoming years because of the growing awareness of heavy metal toxicity. There is always a sector of the market that feels more comfortable paying for higher-priced supplements and the vendors will happily supply.
There are many opinions about this topic and mine is summed up in this: slow, gentle, methodical, natural, inexpensive. I am fortunately a detox success story and this worked very well for me.
Hope this helps!

Modifilan appears to be suitable for vegetarians. It is definitely rather pricey, but I need an algin product. Is it safe to take while the fillings are still in?
Would it be better to take this or sodium alginate powder or kelp? I can't find a single algin supplement suitable for vegetarians.

Is it safe to take while the fillings are still in? I don't see anything in it that would prohibit it's use with fillings still in, but you should check with the manufacturer. Would it be better to take this or sodium alginate powder or kelp? I would say alginate.

Thanks, Russ. If I can't find anything else, I'll try the Modifilan, but I'll wait until the fillings are out - just to be on the safe side
Maybe NSP will make Algin vegetarian suitable in the future, so I can always switch at that time

BTW, Sandra, did the modifilan help?
When I've had the fillings done, all I'm thinking of doing is taking this product (if I can't find anything else) and vit c.

I'm not using Modifilan at the moment, but I am thinking of taking it along with my DMSA/ALA chelation campaigns. However, my boyfriend used mofifilan for 6 months after his amalgam removal back in 2000. He had really good success with it and swears by it. It was actually given to us by an M.D., who was a doctor from Russia, who believes strongly in its efficacy.

Good to hear I think I will defintely use this product and see how it goes. It doesn't appear to contain any harsh detoxing ingredients.

If anyone can help me... I am a male of 27 years and was recently diagnosed with MS. My health insurance coverage is minimal, and with a fairly high deductable as I am paying for it myself. As you might imagine, I have encountered a great amount of not unexpected resistance when trying to upgrade my plan... that's business, I guess. I have decided -- since I would prefer not to be pumped full of drugs anyway -- to attempt to naturally treat my condition, and have read evidence that supports modifilan, fucodain, etc. as part of treatment. Are these claims founded? If so, what would be the best way to get started? Is there anything more effective available for my condition, completely aside from these products? If anyone has any insight on this matter, I would greatly appreciate their time... thank you.

Some important things to know before being able to intelligently answer questions... Do you have amalgam ("silver") fillings in your mouth? Do you have crowns? What color are they? Do you have tattoos? Have you taken vaccines at any time in your life? Recently? MS is a common result of mercury toxicity. I've seen videos of people with MS getting out of their wheelchair for the first time right after having silver fillings removed. Amalgam fillings are batteries producing tens of microvolts of measurable electricity. The voltage from this metallic mixure can circuit directly to the motor control areas of the brain via the jaw. Over a period of time, MS can result. I would start with a hair analysis. You're not looking to see if mercury is high, although it may be, you're really searching for a signature that reveals the presence of mercury in body tissues. Unfortunately, to properly interpret the hair analysis, you'll have to get a book on the subject or send it to someone who can interpret it for you. Here's a link to the book: Hair Test Interpretation Don't be fooled by looking at a hair test and seeing low mercury. The signatures take a little work to recoginize, but it has to be done properly. If mercury is the issue, great. You've found the culprit and now it's only a matter of resolving it. If not, you also want to look at aluminum levels. I'm very sorry to hear about your situation and I hope we can help.
