Would you like to know how much mercury vapor is coming off your fillings and into your mouth? Would you like to see if those fluorescent lights are emitting vapor into your house? What about those scented dryer sheets, your makeup, that old "anti-mildew" paint in the back room or the "anti-bacterial" surface on your new kitchen counter top? Have you considered checking your clothes after you come home from work? What about the insecticide you just sprayed in the garden, or that red dye used in the tattoo you got years ago? Has mercury made its way over decades of "tracking" into your carpet from the nearby farm or the coal-buring power plant outside of town? Do you wonder about your Dentist's office or the local river or lake you go swimming in? Would you like to check your attic insulation, your garden, your favorite hat or the felt padding on the bottom of your knick knacks?

Herb Allure is considering coordinating the purchase of a quality mercury vapor meter by a group of interested people. Members of the group who contribute will have access to the meter for their own personal use on a rotating/reservation basis.

Group members will have priority access to the device. When group members no longer request the device or a gap in the reservation schedule exists, it may be made available to others outside the group for a reasonable service fee which will be placed in a special fund for maintenance of the device. There will be a set of rules and proceedures in place to protect the device from harm and to keep it secure as it will be quite expensive.

If we decide to proceed with this project, we will begin with the following steps:

(1) We will draw up rules and proceedures which will be open for amendment and eventually agreed upon by all members who choose to participate.

(2) Next, we will search for volunteers to serve on a panel to locate the make/model which will best serve our purposes.

(3) Next, we will purchase the unit and will assemble and post shipping schedules according to the rules and proceedures.

This project is intended to help those who participate by enabling them to evaluate themselves and their environment for health safety. We also hope the use of the device will raise public awareness about the mercury issue in general.

We are hoping to have the participation of a large enough number of people so as to keep the one-time purchase cost to less than $30 per person, so please spead the word. We're also considering allowing group participants to use this device to offer this service to friends and local businesses for profit as long as a percentage is contributed back into the maintainence fund. We would like to devise a fair system for keeping the device free for the use of group members once it is purchased.

In an effort to evaluate feasibility, we would like to hear from those who would consider being part of this group. Please post a message in response to this thread or "private message" me.

I am very, very interested in having access to a meter that would measure mercury in my environment. What a great idea! My brother, who has been quite ill from mercury poisoning for a long time, has been looking for one on the internet. We would definitely want to use it.

If anyone is interested in helping to make this happen, please solicit people you may believe are interested to express their interest here so we can get moving on this project.

It may be helpful to go to other forums on the Internet and post this information there.

I really hope we can get this off the ground. Remember, all people in the group could use the device for years to come. We would only have to coordinate shipping from one location to another, which would not be difficult. We could even "rent" it to non-investors for profit and make a dispursement to group members (investors) every so often.

Whatever it takes, let's make this happen.

Could it help detect mercury emitting from you even if your amalgams are no longer present?

Absolutely. It would detect even low levels in the environment.

I priced one last week and it about $10,000 to purchase and about $110 per day to use.

It would be artificially low .If your amalgams are gone ,almost all your hg will be in your brain ,kindeysctc and little will be vaporizing. The half life of hg2+ in the brain is twenyy yrs.
