Okay guys, now I really need some opinions here. I told you that my doctors want to get me stronger before I chelate because I am so weak and chronically fatigued from mercury illness. Now in Andy's book, he explains that the reason for the debilitating fatigue from mercury poisoning is because of how it poisons the hypothalmus and from there messes up the thyroid system in addition to the adrenal glands.
However, today, my doctor told me that the reason for the chronic debilitating fatigue is because mercury poisons the mitochondria.
Which is correct or is it all of the above?
I'm trying to figure out how to get myself stronger and feeling better so I can chelate. I take tons of supplements, including adrenal cortex extract, but none of this helps the fatigue and weakness I experience. Any ideas?

Sandra,
I actually have been meaning to reply to a previous post of yours where I think you mentioned that you are or were doing DMSA chelation.
If this is true, perhaps your body is trying to let you know that you have too much mercury in your systemic circulation. Chronic fatigue, endocrine dysfunction, etc. are symptoms of mercury poisoning, which I know you already know. So, perhaps what might really be needed is something to bind to and remove the mercury that's already been released from the tissues, which is what Algin does.
I hope I don't step on anyone's toes here, but I personally don't agree with "everything" the Dr. Cutler recommends, nor do I agree with "everything" Dr. Huggins recommends. In fact, in my opinion, I don't think there's one single protocol that will work for everyone...especially since some people have heavier body burdens of mercury and are more sensitive to the effects of mercury. Obviously getting the mercury out of the tissues is the key, but I really think some people need to take this process much more slowly. I've talked to so many people who end up just as sick or sicker trying to detox too quickly and then they get mad thinking mercury poisoning wasn't their problem since they're still so sick after the removal.
Based on my experience, I also think that following any mercury detox protocol without using something like Algin to help remove the mercury from the body may cause some redistribution of mercury.
Perhaps maybe it would help your body just to really cut back on the detox portion of what you're doing and give your body a chance to deal with the detoxing you've already done. Think of your body as a sink with a clogged drain that is only able to drain very slowly...the more mercury being poured into the drain, the more mercury is accumulating in the sink, while only a small portion of the sink's volume is able to drain out...pretty soon your sink (body) is going to overflow. However, Algin will help absorb the extra mercury in the sink, reducing the total volume until the sink is empty. Then if you start detoxing again slowly, your drain will be able to handle the volume. I know this is a very elementary example but it's all I could think of at the moment.
I'm not sure if other non-digestible fibers (like psyllium hulls) would work against mercury. Before we got our amalgams removed, we spent a long time researching what to do AFTER the removal so we could be prepared ahead of time. All the research we found pointed to Algin as the best thing to use because it has a special affinity for heavy metals. So far, it's still the only such substance I've found with this quality!
I hope you'll let me know if any of this is helpful to you (or not). I would just like to see you get feeling better. I know I wouldn't be able to run my own business today if I still had mercury fillings. At 34, my fatigue was getting so bad I could only work a couple of hours at a time before I'd feel exhausted (and mostly all I was doing was computer work!).
In fact, if you want to post a list of what you're taking including the brand names, we might be able to find out if some of the supplements you're taking contain ingredients that are multiplying the detox effects. You might actually be detoxing a lot more than you think, which would explain why you're still so fatigued and not feeling well.

I so appreciate your taking the time to write to me. I really am so ill and can barely make it through the day. I haven't been able to work for 3 years now and I sleep most of the day from the fatigue. Here's what I take:
Vitamin C- 5,000 throughout the day B complex- 2x DAY magnesium glycinate- 800- 3x day selenium 200 mcgs Vitamin E- 800 mgs. Choline 1000 mgs. DMAE- 100 mgs. B12- high doses throuhgout the day pregnenolone- 25 mgs. day (sublingual) adrenal cortex- 3x day
I know I need more adrenal support but I don't know what to do. I'm tempted to order some prednisolone from some off shore pharmacy and do a taper as outlined in Andy's book and see if it will bring me back to life so I can start chelating. I feel that chelation should be the most important thing, as I am extremely poisoned, but if I got worse than I am now, I wouldn't even be able to take a shower (too weak).

Hi Sandra,
You mention you're taking "high doses of B12 throughout the day" and you're also taking "B-Complex twice a day". Since I'm sure your B-Complex supplement contains B12, you probably are getting a lot of B12.
The problem with this is that B12 methylates mercury (changes mercury into its more toxic form, methylmercury). Methylmercury is fat-soluble and because of this it can cross the blood-brain barrier, the placenta, and other cell membranes.
Based on this information, it appears you are making yourself more toxic by taking so much B12.
If I was in your situation, I would actually stop taking everything except the vitamin C. I wouldn't take any other supplements for at least 3 to 4 days. I would also drink a lot of water to support the elimination of mercury already in circulation through the kidneys and colon.
It's possible you could feel worse initially, or maybe not, but I suspect that after a few days you may actually begin to feel better. If so, then you'll know that something you've been taking isn't working.
Once your body has had a chance to rest and recuperate (remember my "sink" example), then you could start adding supplements back in - but only one at a time. Give yourself several days with only one supplement to see how you react. If the first supplement makes you feel better, great, but if not, don't keep taking it and see if you can find out why it might be making you ill (even post on the forum and we'll all try to help). Then move on to the second supplement and so on.
I would personally not take any B12. In fact, when I found out the B12 methylates mercury, I stopped taking my B-Complex supplement as well. I didn't have any bad reactions from stopping, and I actually have been feeling better, although I can definitively say it's because I stopped the B-Complex.
If you're worried about getting enough B vitamins, try eating a lot of foods that contain B vitamins (organic sources are the best), such as lean meat, legumes, nuts, and green leafy vegetables.
