Hi all,
Would 60 grams of whey protein make mercury symptoms worse. I have seemed to crop up on something!!! More proof of my condition maybe? Is it true the sulpher in whey binds to mercury? I've noticed similiar excerabation on cottage cheese + flax seed and oil. What do you guys think? Thanks

Andy Cutler talks extensively in his book about how many people who are mercury toxic are very sensitive to "sulphur" foods and should eliminate them from the diet.

Cystine in Whey has a sulphur binding site which chelates mercury. This provides a gentle detoxing effect and is how I choose to detox (in combination with other things) because I don't have side effects from it (and I don't know anyone who has).
I assume you have your fillings out. If you don't, then be sure to avoid sulphur as much as possible.
If you do have your fillings out, you have to decide which detox plan you want to pursue. If you're this sensitive, be careful.
Best of luck.

I am taking goat whey (in raw form) Drinking it doesn't taste very good but there are so many benefits to it that I believe it's worth it! I am hoping that drinking one glass a day will not make my symptoms worse with mercury and am getting ready to up the dose of Algin if needed. I hope that it is one of the gentler ways to detox as I am also VERY sensitive.. Nina

Thanks, Russ.
That's a lot of food. I don't think I can avoid all of these, being a vegetarian and trying to watch the carbs also (too much is bad for people with insulin resistance), aswell as having candida, lol. But I will try to look for alternatives as much as I can until my fillings are replaced <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Another question - if sulphur helps to remove mercury, why is it to be avoided when the fillings are in?
I've heard that mercury can't be removed from the brain by detox. Is this true?

if sulphur helps to remove mercury, why is it to be avoided when the fillings are in? In short: Because it "speeds up" the rate at which mercury leaves the fillings and goes into the body. Sulphur chelates (binds to) mercury and pulls it into the lymphatic system and blood stream. The mercury then (in-part) redistributes to other locations in the body causing additional harm. If you take sulphur after the fillings are removed, it will chelate the mercury from the organs it resides in and will eliminate it. Of course, this is exactly were Algin is so valuable. Algin will take the intestinal mercury, absorb it and hold on tight until it's eliminated. Of course, sulphur is a very important nutrient for the body so living with mercury-based fillings is a real balancing act (which no one should have to walk). I've heard that mercury can't be removed from the brain by detox. Is this true? No. Alpha Lipoic Acid crosses the blood brain barrier and chelates mercuy from the brain. A word of warning: Although ALA is great for detox, I suggest taking it slowly. Shortly after my fillings were removed, I went on ALA to detox and had severe headaches that lasted over a week after I stopped taking the ALA. ALA is good, but be careful and take it slow (and only after the fillings are removed) and always with Algin. Hope this helps.
