100 Survival Items to Disappear FirstSomething to think about in times of emergency... 1. Generators (Good ones cost dearly. Gas storage, risky. Noisy...target of thieves; maintenance etc.) 2. Water Filters/Purifiers 3. Portable Toilets 4. Seasoned Firewood. Wood takes about 6 - 12 months to become dried, for home uses. 5. Lamp Oil, Wicks, Lamps (First Choice: Buy CLEAR oil. If scarce, stockpile ANY!) 6. Coleman Fuel. Impossible to stockpile too much. 7. Guns, Ammunition, Pepper Spray, Knives, Clubs, Bats & Slingshots. 8. Hand-can openers, & hand egg beaters, whisks. 9. Honey/Syrups/white, brown sugar 10. Rice - Beans - Wheat Continued... http://www.thepowerhour.com/news/items_disappearfirst.htm

Russ, this is an excellent list & brainteaser.
Many of the items can be used as a category heading and expanded upon from there.
Also much of what is listed are everyday consumables so you are simply laying in a supply of goods you currently use anyway.

I noticed that many have viewed this thread, so there must be interest, yet few have posted...
In viewing lists such as this, some things that seem glaringly obvious to many folks may be completely unthought of by others.
On a different but related note, just recognizing the necessity of an item doesn't complete the story. For Example...
Toilet Paper, How much have you stored?? How much should you?? How much does your family consume, a week?, a month?
Have you thought about the possibility of food poisoning, or dysentary and how much more of this commodity would get used.
So what do you say we get some conversation going here, that will benefit all!!
