I have been coming across some interesting information on salt. I eat very little salt and from what I am reading,it is vital for health to have sufficient salt. There is a web-site I found that believes they may have discovered a cure for lymes by taking salt tablets (ordered through a pharmacy) and 12,000 mgs of vit c a day. I don't know what the effect salt has on mercury and wondered if any of you know. I have been taking an Ester C in powder form and I definitely have been better. I took Vit. C in pill form (8,000 mg a day) and didn't feel the benefit of it like I have with this Ester C. Anyway, would love to know any info you might have on salt. The wellness website really talks up the importance of salt as well and claims that taking a certain amount of the right kind of salt is a good detoxer for metals. Vicki

I don't know if anyone else has had a problem with salt, but as I mentioned in another post, my Dr. had me on a high sodium diet to try and retain fluid (I'm chronically dehydrated) and it made my face break out in cystic acne and I had very frequent (more so than usual) urination trying to clear out the excess. I believe that I read somewhere that sodium is not good with mercury.

After a short search, this is all I could find: "Salt aids in protein metabolism and aids in the transport of nutrients through cell membranes."It's All In Your Head by Dr. Hal Huggins, pg 154 "You must also make certain that you have sufficient HCl (hydrochloric acid) to begin with, and this is where table salt comes into the health picture. The Cl from NaCl (sodium chloride, table salt) is used by the parietal cells in the stomach to products HCl. Patients on low-salt diets are restricting their ability to metabolize protein."It's All In Your Head by Dr. Hal Huggins, pg 141

Hi Vicki,
I don't know if this is what your asking about but I have always eaten a lot of salt. About 5 years ago I started having High Blood Pressure problems and after some research, I started using Sea Salt.....it's actually good for you.....whereas normal Morton's table salt is bad.
You might want to do some research on Sea Salt. I love it and it taste just as good.....I hope this helps.
