Hi All, Im back again just wondering how important it is while detoxing (had amalgam out 18 mo's ago) and did 7 months of DMSA, that it is to not eat sugar and not drink caffeine. Yes I believe I struggle with candida and have gone through stages of attempting to irradicate completely. But does it ever go away? I read "Life Force" by Jeffery McCombs that says don't even bother to attempt to cleanse the candida unless you can SWEAT daily! Like in a suana (infared) or steam room. Fortunately we do have an infared sauna but havn't been using it much lately. I guess I sometimes wonder how much its doing. But then again, our skin is our largest organ and it has incredible volume in which to expel toxins. Anyone have experience with the infared saunas and/or sugar/candida issues? Thx, Diane
PS. I just get frustrated cuz sometimes it seems like Im not any better than last year but I probably am... I just want faster results!

Hi Diane, candida only occurs when the immune system is challenged, or someone has taken a course of antibiotics etc. If the conditon was caused by antibiotics, the person may only need to treat candida temporarily until the gut flora is back in balance.
However, if you have an ongoing condition, or something more long term that you still have not cured, then candida may be an ongoing problem and may need ongoing treatment to keep the symptoms at bay or at least lessened somewhat...
So if it's caused by mercury, then until you detox enough mercury, you may need to keep treating candida. It also depends what else maybe wrong. If everything else is relatively ok and you detox your mercury, then you should be able to go off the diet or loosen up a lot. if the underlying problem remains, then candida is likely to return.
Yeast is normal in the body, you are not meant to get rid of ALL yeast nor do I think it's even possible. It's about building up immunity and preventing yeast from flourishing on sugars/gluten etc. so you do things that help your immunity and gut. Many people have to give up sugar, PLUS wheat/gluten or they will simply not improve. You maybe gluten intolerant and that in itself can cause severe illness/symptoms. With or without candida. And wheat itself is apparently treated with mercury fungicide, so should not be eaten anyway. But all gluten containing grains are best avoided, even as a trial for a few weeks or more to see if it makes a big difference.
Candida should improve or even go away if your immunity is restored. But until then, it's likely to continue and require ongoing avoidance of sugar/wheat/gluten/yeast/caffeine...
I can handle tea, but I cannot handle coffee.
Wanting faster results is understandable, but usually not realistic, considering it takes a long time to heal from mercury and heal from candida, let alone try and treat both and wait for improvements. It also depends how long you have been on the diet completely. nothing counts if you haven't and keep cheating.
Sweating is really good if yoru body sweats properly. Even exercise for me was a great help when mercury toxic, but I used a treadmill and that was brilliant (especially on incline) and got me sweating, plus circulation and muscles were being in motion and helping excrete a lot of toxins.
However, you can easily treat candida without doing the sweating. I had to, or I would have probably ended my life. In fact, bad candida stopped me from sweating in the first place and stopped me from detoxing anything. So what this geoffry guy says to my mind is a bit of a contradiction. Yes you can get temporarily sick from the detoxing of candida and maybe sweating and cleansing is helpful in eradicting those toxins, but it's not essential because some people are so ill with candida they cannot detox properly. you have to start somewhere and i treated candida regardless and it worked and helped me and probably saved my life.

Thx Bex for the input once again. I suppose I really need to be diligent with the candida diet. I have been taking caprylic acid fo 4-5 days now and boy do I feel the die off symptoms! Man! Cravings, irritability, crying, extreme sensitivity! Im doing no yeast, wheat, corn, sugar but sometimes a little stevia as that seems to help satisfy my sweet tooth. Is stevia OK in your opinion? Or how about vegetable glycerine as a sweetener? I hear that it not only stabilizes blood sugar but is safe. What do you think? Would it just trick my body into thinking its getting sugar again? And I will start using the infared sauna more. I think the hardest for me to comply with right now is the salad dressings, katsup and vinegars in the dressings. Everything seems like its so bland otherwise. Anyhow thks for the insight!
