I mean isn't the purpose to sweat so as long as your are sweating isn't a regular sauna okay. I was using an infrared one at the crazy doctor's office who used inproper chelation for $40 a pop but belong to a gym that has a dry sauna so have been going there instead. I am careful and put towels under me and drink tons of water. I've decided to try and go every other day for 30 minutes.

I use to know about far infrared stuff, but don't remember. There is a lot of info on the frequent dose chelation list on Yahoo if you weren't aware or aren't getting enough answers on here, btw.

Any sweating will remove mercury and other toxins...a dry sauna would still be very beneficial.
I would avoid steam saunas unless they used spring water as chlorine vapor is no good and fluoride might be a problem too.
Infrared saunas do have additional health benefits due to the infrared rays though.

You're a quite knowledgable GD!! BTW, hope it didn't sound insulting about my reference to that other group. It is highly technical and not social enough for me personally. Do you know what the difference is with far infrared or if there is one?
I sweat more now, too. You guys are all inspiring on here.

I'm pretty sure all infrared saunas are far infrared, and all that means is the length of the infrared ray.

Be careful about doing too many saunas. Not only are toxins and water lost, but important minerals like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, selenium, etc. One needs to increase their intake of these if they are taking many saunas. My opinion is that saunas are good in moderation, but should not be overdone.

I bought an infrared sauna when I was at my worst - I used it while my fillings were still in and after I got them out. It helped me immensely. When I was at my worst, I would be awake at three o'clock in the morning unable to get to sleep with all of the pain and twitching. I would go in the sauna for 45 minutes followed by a quick shower and it stopped the twitching and pain enough for me to get some sleep. After I got my fillings out, I had a major flare up of symptoms and my strict candida diet and antifungals did nothing to help. I went in the sauna everyday for several weeks and it stopped the symptoms. I had great success with DMPS, but I think the sauna was almost equal to DMPS in terms of improvement of symptoms. Whenever I was very symptomatic and went in the sauna, I would develop a rash on my skin after sweating. When I don't have symptoms and go in the sauna, I do not get a rash. So clearly, it is removing toxins. I take magnesium and tri-salts before going in the sauna and multiple minerals along with other vitamin supplements when I come out. I believe the infrared sauna gets you sweating more at a lower temperature than a regular sauna which was important to me because I was very prone to dizziness and heart palpitations in high temperatures.
