My body seems to be in rebellion. In the past it was just a response that I can't do it since don't have the energy to do it. Now it is much more than that. Pushing myself to do something I want to do is starting to provoke an internal anger. It is like my body says leave me alone and let me rest. i guess I need a few weeks off from chelation. I may finish this round a few doses early. I just can't take anymore. I found a web page with Andy Cutler's protocal. It seems to have the most information I have seen on a single page. I found this interesting. "DMSA changes the side effect profile of ALA and also accelerates detox by 30-40%. DMSA must be given no less often than every 4 hours and it is best to give it with the ALA for convenience. DMPS may also be used orally in combination with ALA. Subjectively this leads to a much lower side effect profile. " http://www.autistas.org/protocolo_andy.htmThis page is good to copy and give to doctors and dentists who are not familiar with mercury chelation. i am starting to think that perhaps I should be using DMSA or DMPS together with the ALA. Where do I get those? Are they by prescription? I don't want to have to find a physician who will prescribe these.

Thanks for reminding me. I try to drink water when I remember to do so. I just drank some water. I keep a large(1.5 liter) bottle of water next to me, however I still forget to drink frequently enough.

Thanks.I am still confused about DMSA. Some US websites say it is by prescription only while others say it doesn't need a prescription. What is the the official FDA stance, is it prescription only, or approved for both prescription and non prescription use? Has its status changed recently? I don't wan't to use it if it is not approved for nonprescription use.

I'm not sure, I live in New Zealand and I get mine from a Health Lab here. I just phone and order it, or I can get it from my doctor. I havent required a prescription for it. Many people just order it. I think DMPS is the one you require a prescription for. But not DMSA.

This round was a doozy. My knees were stiff most of this week. They are still somewhat stiff around 24 hours after my last ALA dose. The muscle ache is very annoying. I still have it. Does that mean my body is still dumping mercury 24 hours after the last ALA dose, or is mercury that was flushed out into my blood by the ALA still trying to work its way back into my organs, or perhaps a bit of both?

I know that redistribution hits everybody after each round. Once you stop the chelating round, the still free floating mercury gets re-absorbed again. This can increase symptoms for some. Some of the mercury may come out on it's way, as the rest is re-absorbed until the next round. Just as you stated.
I found it at times quite intolerable to stay on a round for long enough. Andy's was the most stable, but I experienced increasing exhaustion and aching and at times found revolting, very ill. I can relate to what you're experiencing and yes I believe it is mercury being pulled out and moved around as well. Though it may also be some minerals that maybe depleted in the process too.
Things should improve over time. It takes a long time though. Often there is so much stored mercury that the more you pull out, the more you realise is there. It was a shocker for me to find out how much mercury was in my tissues/organs. And how difficult it was to get enough of the stuff out to start feeling human again.
Antioxidants were of most importance to me! Vitamin C, vitamin E and selenium were actually the most common ones I used. I had good quality ones and they worked. I really needed them desperately, not just because I was poisoned and mercury uses up antioxidants, but also the stress of chelating too.

Thanks for the reply. The scary thing is that many antioxidants also operate as anticoagulants. This is especially true for me for vitamin E, as I get nosebleeds if I take more than a small amount of vitamin E. Vitamin C also acts as an anticoagulant , but the effect is milder. I am also wondering if the ALA also acts as an anticoagulant. I started taking vitamin k again, as I had some mild nosebleeds this week, and was afraid they might get worse. i also stopped eating garlic a few weeks ago, as garlic also acts as an anticoagulant. I think the problem is that many of the supplements I take have anticoagulant effects.
The knee stiffness I had this week was scary. I felt like I sort of couldn't even bend my kness much, and if I did, I might even damage them. It seems to be greatly improved today, but is still not completely normal. It felt like there was water accumulating on the knees. I guess a huge amount of mercury was stirred up this round and my body was overwhelmed. After this round, I am scared to do any more chelation. I was totally debilitated this week.
