I've been feeling a remarkable improvement in my mercury symptoms, and can handle much more exercise and strenuous work. Part of my job even includes lifting, dragging, and tossing 160 lb bales of alfalfa for the animals on my ranch, which is how much I weigh!

So what I've been doing for the past three weeks and still going strong is a raw milk fast! Only drinking raw milk, no solid food at all. 1/3 of its fresh goats milk that I milk myself and the other 2/3 is organic pastures raw milk. I drink about 1.5 gallons a day.

I still get some mercury symptoms from very heavy work, which I expected, but am handling the summer heat here in Southern California really well and just feel so strong and resilient. No yeast symptoms, less brainfog than ever, no loose stools which I've had a problem with for a long time, and very regular bowels. I haven't craved any other food besides milk either.

Interesting eh?

do you still experience depression and other stuff such as shyness, low self esteem etc.?

Glad to hear that you are getting so much better <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> When did you have your amalgams removed?

Heres a link for more info on when I got my amalgams removed etc Link

My shyness is pretty much gone, though I still don't like big groups of people. I haven't had low self esteem for a while, I outgrew that with the amalgams still in place. I still have days where I feel a little gray but its very far from anything I could call depressed.

The big thing was how people think milk is a big no-no for anyone with mercury problems, and I know I have mercury problems and I feel so good drinking only fresh high quality organic raw milk. The few symptoms I had from mercury have gotten less severe and I have been able to handle a lot more heavy work. Its been over three weeks and I'm still noticing things improving day by day.

http://www.westonaprice.org/bookreviews/untold_story_milk.html

It feels really great, so 30 days minimum. Seriously, I feel more stable than I have in a long time and have been getting so many things done that I have just been putting off until I felt better (things that required heavy lifting and hard work which used to give me a real bad reaction).

I respect milk so much more as a complete food able to supply my body with everything it needs, and really feel like I could go a very long time drinking only milk.

I know milk has a lot of selenium and iodine which are so crucial for getting better if you have mercury problems.

I've read that book and it is really good. It mentions a guy who got poisoned at a young age by swallowing some chemical and could only drink milk and no other food. He lived a normal healthy life on only milk and had a normal job and everything. Of course the milk he was drinking was fresh from a farm and not the crap most people would buy from the supermarket.

Good luck with the fast

Only milk? No solid food? How can one keep their bowels functioning properly without any fiber, or are you taking fiber supplements?

My bowels are functioning better than ever, absolutely no fiber. Very solid healthy looking stools every morning and sometimes around noon again.

Fiber is not what makes healthy stools! Healthy bacteria make healthy stools, regardless of fiber.

My appetite for milk has gotten even stronger...sometimes I drink a quart at a time. Its been very very hot here and I have been sweating a lot but handling it better than I could ever have hoped for. I did so much lifting on Sunday (for work, not weights!) which normally would make me feel like complete crap but I only got slightly irritable and it was easily ignored.

I'm really impressed with how good this is going!

Milk has plenty of potassium and calcium, but not much sodium or magnesium. Are you worried that you aren't taking in enough sodium or magnesium? How about zinc and trace minerals? How about vitamin c? How about B vitamins? I guess your diet might be okay for a day or two, however for long term use, if you don't use supplements you might run into some problems.

Milk has vitamin C (raw milk at least), it has good amounts of b vitamins, and plenty more are made by bacteria as it passes through your system. Regular milk has like 6% zinc per cup, and that is most likely factory farmed, so I'm guessing my milk has more than that. After drinking nearly two gallons some days, thats plenty of zinc. Also, grassfed milk can contain about 2% iron per cup, which adds up to enough in the amount that I'm drinking.

You gotta remember milk is made to be utilized and absorbed by the body, while other foods were made to fulfill there biological function and we just decided to eat them. For instance, Carrots are a plants way to store carbohydrates for the winter, they don't grow just for us to eat them, they are growing to survive and reproduce. Milk on the other hand is produced for mammals to consume.

I do supplement with magnesium, and I do add some salt to my milk to taste (very helpful when its this hot).

A day or two? I've been doing this for 25 days about and feel better than ever! The proof is in the pudding. Milk is a complete food that has everything you need when its from a healthy animal.

gdawson06,

That is quite interesting! I too have heard that goat milk can be great for many ailments. My mother, aunts & uncles were raised on goat's milk and my grandparents swear by it. That is a very good idea. I am a little sensitive to milk at the moment but I hadn't even thought about trying goat milk. Thanks for updating us on your progress and sharing that experience, I will definitely look into that. Glad you are feeling better, that's very encouraging to hear!! Good luck with the 30 day fast and keep us posted. I would love to hear how it is progressing! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/coolthumbsup.gif" alt="" />

"You gotta remember milk is made to be utilized and absorbed by the body,"

Cow's milk is made to be utilized by young calves, not adult humans. Many people have at least some degree of lactose intollerance, which tends to get worse with age.

As for cow's milk being a complete food, here is some research. It only measures 45 out 100 on their completeness scale.

A quart of whole milk has 18 grams of saturated fat, or 91% of the adult recommended daily allowance. If you are drinking over a gallon a day, you are taking in way too much saturated fat. You could switch to skim or part skim milk to deal with that. I am just stating these things since I think a milk only diet for long periods of time might be quite dangerous.

This page lists the vitamin c in milk as zero. It also shows very low amounts of iron, copper and manganese.Niavcin, vitamin A and vitamin k . Sorry if I am getting on your case a bit, however drinking just milk for months at a time and eating no solid food imo could be dangerous.

Most animals make vitamin c in their bodies so they don't need to take in any. Humans are the exception. We don't make any vitamin c in our bodies.

You posted a link of the nutritional analysis of pasteurized factory farmed milk. That is not what I was talking about. There is a great difference between that and raw organic grassfed milk. Most store bought milk also comes from modern holstein breeds which produce massive amounts of milk which is less nutritious than milk from the traditional breeds of cattle.

The completeness score was also based on the RDA, which is also based on the food pyramid which is all government funded and in reality everybodies RDA varies significantly, some needing much more and some needing much less.

Also, there is something called bio-availability of nutrients. Its how easily our body can utilize the nutrients in our food. The nutrients in raw unprocessed milk are very bio-available because they are intended for the babies to absorb. For instance, raw milk has an enzyme which actually helps you absorb the calcium that it contains, so your body has to do very little work.

It may be made for a calf, but all baby mammals have weak digestive systems and can't eat solid food, yet they can digest milk easily. Humans, having one of the most varied diets of any species, can take advantage of this nutritious fluid that these animals produce excess of. They produce enough for their babies and more.

Raw milk is tolerated by most people who have lactose intolerance, because it contains probiotic bacteria which will break down the lactose in your digestive tract.

And finally, regarding the fat, that is just a big lie. Our ancestors have been eating large amounts of saturated fat for centuries yet modern man was the only one with a real problem with heart disease. The problem is refined vegetable oils and hydrogenated fats, not fats from healthy animals. http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/oiling.html

I trust tradition and personal experience more than modern science. I have researched extensively what people traditionally knew to be healthy. They prized saturated animal fat for its health giving properties and never restricted it. Modern science is more interested in making big bucks by being bought out by the big industries than giving us good reliable information to make us healthy.

I guess you have decided not to be influenced by what others here say. i challene you to find at least 2 nutritionists who say that consuming only milk for over a month is a good idea.
You completely ignored what I said about the lack of vitamin c in milk, and the very low levels of some other nutrients. I don't want to find out later that you became very ill from this, and that I had a chance to convince you to modify your intake at least somewhat, and add the nutritrients that the milk is missing, but failed to do so.

You were the only one who was skeptical after looking at this thread.

I am going to to start eating more foods soon but it was a wonderful fast and it has done wonders on my body. I gained much needed weight and feel stronger and more vibrant than I have in years. I do plan on doing maybe a week a month on only milk for a while though.

I was just arguing with you because I believe milk has got a bad rap when its really can be a good health-giving food. I just don't like to see raw milk from a healthy happy animals treated the same as pasteurized homogenized milk from animals in cramped feedlots that are force fed large amounts of foods such as sweet stale bakery leftovers.

I do appreciate your concern but what you initially said, that milk was only ok for a day or two fast, is completely contradictory to my and many others personal experience who have done milk fasts. Many have gotten rid of lifelong ailments from this therapy. Its all in the book that Sunshine mentioned, "The untold story of milk" .

I was exaggerating a bit when I said a day or two. I guess the main thing the milk is missing which is important not to go long without is vitamin c and niacin, since the body can't store much of those. If you drink a gallon a day of milk you would be getting enough magnesium and sodium, however I still say the saturated fat is a concern. Of course you could drink skim milk rather than whole milk, but then a gallon of milk wouldn't have enough calories. Perhaps there might also be some concern about excess calcium intake, although that would be a long term concern, not a short term one. A week at a time just drinking milk might not be so bad though, especially if you take b vitamins and vitamin c with it. A month or more might start to be a big concern though.

Whoah! I'm mighty impressed but not at all surprised, good on ya, thats a powerful testimony and y'all are so right sayin the proof is in the puddin. Raw milk is the way to go, no wonder it's practically illegal, and meat produced on these kinda farms is usually equally in another stratosphere nutrition-wise.
Thanks for bringin this to general attention, not so many folks know this real basic info. My golly, you're puttin some dangerous info out there <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Its just a good feeling to know once and for all that milk is helping me out and not hurting me.

I would read about how milk is bad for people with mercury poisoning and autistic kids etc...and always wonder in the back of my mind if it was really helping me or making things worse (I'm sure you guys know that paranoid feeling!) . I would go months without any milk and not notice any difference but this milk fast finally proved it to me and dispelled all my doubts.

Its a good feeling when I have 6 dairy goats, with an extra little girl who will be giving me milk someday too. I can drink the goats milk with no doubts as to whether its interfering with my mercury detoxification. When I'm not fasting I usually ferment the milk into kefir which is super probiotic and really healthy.

The liver can synthesize niacin from the essential amino acid tryptophan, requiring 60 mg of tryptophan to make one mg of niacin.

Milk has plenty of tryptophan so it appears niacin would not be the limiting factor.

The following quotes are taken from this page - http://www.diseaseproof.com/archives/hurtful-food-saturated-fat-vs-polyunsaturated-fat.html

I emphasize that the Masai of Africa drink over two gallons of milk every day, and their milk is said to have a much higher fat content that our average store milk of 3%.

Quote
The idea that cardiovascular disease is not associated with high fat diets is also shown by comparison study of matched groups of twenty-eight railwaymen from North India and twenty-eight from Southern India.(53) The consumption of fats, mostly of animal origin, was ten times higher among the North Indians than the South Indians, but there were no significant differences between their lipid and cholesterol levels. Among the South Indian population, the incidence of heart disease is said to be fifteen times as high as among the North Indians where the fat content of the diet is ten times higher. Dietary factors are doubtless very important in connection with the incidence of heart disease, but fat is only one factor, and other dietary factors are considerably more important.
Quote

This is also corroborated by a study of 400 Masai men in Tanganyika.(54) In spite of the fact that the diet of these men is almost exclusively milk and meat (consumption of whole blood is relatively rare), both of which contain much fat and plenty of cholesterol, the cholesterol levels in the blood of the Masai are extraordinarily low, and there was "no evidence of arteriosclerotic heart disease." It should be noted that a diet containing large quantities of meat is free from "naked calories," and is certain to supply an assortment of amino acids, minerals, and vitamins in liberal amounts. Though the Masai have other health disorders - many of infective origin - they probably escape heart disease because their body cells are furnished with an environment that is adequate enough to protect their hearts and blood vessels.
Quote

A corollary of the notion that saturated fats are archvillains is the idea that one should eat substantial amounts of polyunsaturated fats. (The phrase "polyunsaturated fatty acids" has become virtually synonymous with "heart protection" in both popular and orthodox medical thinking.) While everyone should have unsaturated fats in his diet, their presence does not by any means afford adequate protection against atherosclerosis and heart disease. The current consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids in the USA is higher than it has ever been, yet this does not curb heart disease.(55) There are many reasons on which to base our conclusion that other factors are far more important.(56) When other deficiencies are eliminated, the amount of unsaturated fat is of secondary importance. If there is plenty of vitamin B6 in the diet, fat metabolism tends to take care of itself.
I have said a good deal about vitamin B6, but I do not mean to imply that it is, by itself, the answer to heart disease. All the nutrients contribute to the prevention of heart trouble.

You still didn't address the lack of vitamin c is cows milk. Most animals besides humans manufacture plenty of vitamin c in their bodies, and even greatly increase the manufacturing of vitamin c when they are under stress.

That is producers cow milk, it has a little extra fat because they didn't remove it to make it lower but it says in that data that it is 6% vitamin C per cup. They won't allow nutritional testing of milk if it is raw, at least thats what Organic Pastures told me. So when they test milk, they always pasteurize it before the test even if it is going to be sold as raw. Milk of the same quality should have 12% per cup if its raw, according to some pages. If it does have 12% which I suspect it would (at least), then my Vitamin C needs would certainly be met.

I also drink goat's milk which has about the same vitamin C level according to nutritiondata, so milk fresh from this morning like I always drink it should have considerably more as vitamin C is sensitive to stress and will degrade over time and pasteurization.

Did we cover all of the bases yet? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

To be fair I think it is wise to supplement, especially when your body has a burden of heavy metals like most of us do. I like Alive! Vitamin C by natures way, its an extract of all natural C from all organic fruits, and you can buy it in a powder so you don't have fillers. Supplements are an important part of my daily regimen but it was nice to take a break from them and feel good still.

But compared to other foods I don't think you could find a single food that would meet your needs better than high quality milk, but thats not based on just numbers.

What happened to your weight on the milk fast?

i am underweight so fasting is only an option for a couple of days at a time. i have done 7 days veg juice fast and lost weight then and i don't want to lose anymore, i need to gain weight.

I am most impressed with your milk fast....Congrats.....most motivational!

I gained much needed weight! About 15 pounds, and I look a very healthy weight now, and feel much stronger and resilient. I'm a little over 160 and I'm about 5'11", I was down to 145 and was looking pretty thin, which is one thing that made me want to try a milk fast as I know that when I drink only milk I can consume more calories as it feels easy on my digestive system.

Sunshine, eating plenty of sunflower seeds and nuts will help you gain weight without taking in plenty of saturated fat or simple carbohydrates. Yes, nuts do have some carbohydrates, but these are not simple carbohydrates, and the percentage of calories from carbohydrates is pretty low. you can use the nutritiondata website to research each type of nut for nutritional profile. Nuts also have plenty of minerals and plenty of protein. some nuts are expensive though, however sunflower seeds and peanuts are cheap. I eat mostly those, but also splurge on some cashews and mixed nuts.

Gdawson….You gained weight? That is very interesting…that makes me want to do a fast like this even more……thanks. Very interesting indeed!

JK98…thanks. I eat plenty of nuts and seeds already. Everyday. I soak them in salted water for 6-12 hours, depending on the type of nut/seed, then dry them out in a very low heat oven for 24 hours. This makes them more digestible, easier to digest and more nutrients are available for me. this is the Western A Price / Nourishing Traditions way.

Pretty unexpected gaining 15 pounds
What was your diet like before trying the milk fast?

Gas is making milk so expensive <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Oh and what blood type are you? Most sites I have seen do not recommend milk for people with digestion problems as it irritates the intestines

Well I was having some digestive symptoms before the fast. The only way to get around it was eat small meals and space them out good, otherwise I would feel too feel and uncomfortable, like I ate too much. I was doing fine otherwise besides the fact that I wasn't really in taking enough food to provide all of my energy so I started slowly losing a bit of weight. I knew I had to do something about this so I got the idea to drink only milk and it worked very well. I feel much more solid and am a very healthy weight after almost a month of only milk. I have been enjoying doing heavy labor under the SoCal sun which is just something that I haven't been able to do in a while, especially in summer!

The only way I can seem to keep a nice healthy weight is with a lot of butterfat in my diet. Seeds and nuts don't do much and I can't eat too many of them without feeling heavy, even if they are soaked and dehydrated.

It turns out my enzyme supplement (biocore optimum) was giving me an allergic reaction and giving me this tense full feeling by my spleen/pancreas area on my abdomen. I figured this out after stopping all my supps for a while then trying them one by one while on the milk fast. The enzymes gave me an instant bad reaction and symptoms that it gave me were ones that I struggled with for quite a while. So I haven't even tried solid food yet but I think once I do that it will be easier to eat more because the enzymes were something I always took with food.

I also tried taking turmeric extract once (bright yellow), and I pooped less than 5 hours later and noticed the yellow color in my solid stools, so the milk was moving through me really fast! Explains how I could drink so much.

About milk being irritable to the digestive tract, we have to distinguish between fresh milk and pasteurized milk. The only time I think milk is really a problem is when your digestive system is in real bad shape and you have that leaky gut syndrome where partially digested proteins can enter your bloodstream. Otherwise milk is very easy on your digestive system, as long as you don't mix it with the wrong foods.

Cool
Yeah I have leaky gut and candida overgrowth and I don't know if it would be a good idea. But hey, I am always up for trying anything, if only to change the status quo.

What blood type are you?

If your sure you have leaky gut then I don't know if cows milk would help. Goats milk may be ok, as autistic kids can tolerate that sometimes. Milk from Jersey or other non-holstein breed cows may also be ok, but the proteins in most holstein cows can cause a reaction in people with leaky gut.

I also don't know my blood type. Its been probably 8 years since I've visited a doctor or hospital, but I think I might be type AB or O. I'll ask my mom next time I call her, she probably knows.

I'm at 30 days now, and still going strong. I am taking a few supplements now but still haven't had any food besides raw dairy for a whole month now.

My body feels like its really benefiting from this so I am going to keep on fasting on only milk until I feel like its time to change. I know some people might think this is crazy but I know what my body is telling me and I trust that more than anything else. I am stronger and more resilient than I have ever been, period.

I feel the child in me who was full of energy coming back, the one who wasn't afraid of exerting himself physically out of fear of getting hit hard with mercury symptoms for days afterwards. I did still have symptoms of mercury poisoning as a child, but it didn't really hit me hard physically until my later teenage years after getting braces and a handful of other things.

Its been an awesome experience to drink only milk these 30 days, and I will keep you guys updated and I'm glad this was well received for the most part. I still have a ways to go for my healing by this has certainly given me better results than anything I have tried, and my appetite is stronger than it has been in about 5 years which was something I was struggling with.

Thanks for your support!

Thanks for posting about this it has been really interesting to read. You are right about listening to your body I think. Perhaps it is only something you should do in the short term, perhaps not but for now it seems as though your body is thanking you. It's exciting to find out something like this for yourself. If I didn't have Candida issues I'd try this myself.

So a quick update...

I tried adding some other foods back into my diet after 7 weeks...but grains didn't sit well and gave me some really bad symptoms. Apparently the milk boosts my immune system enough where I don't have a problem with yeast but when I ate oatmeal the next morning my muscles felt terrible and sore and I was just really grumpy.

Its been over 8 weeks I think now and still on almost a pure milk fast. I have been eating some berries and other fruit in the evenings (not with milk) and that doesn't bother me.

Still feeling a lot better than I was before and Handling the intense summer heat so much better than last summer. I feel a lot stronger and have been sweating so much from the heat but the milk replenishes my minerals and electrolytes easily.

I tried 30mg of ALA every 3 hours for just one full day and the next day I felt really wierd and was having serious memory lapses, which is very uncommon for me so I'm going to wait until it cools down before attempting any chelation as the heat and sweat are moving enough mercury IMO.
