Please write the FDA with your mercury story. They are open for public comment regarding mercury amalgam until July 28th. Read the article on Natural News.

This btw is what I posted, whether or not they accept the comment remains to be seen.

---

Despite all their proselytizing to the contrary, it should be clearly evident that the ADA knows little about dental health, or health in general. Any person that would recommend using a substance as poisonous mercury in the mouth or anywhere else in the body should never be permitted to call themselves Doctor.

After a dental incident in late 2006 which left me very ill, I was diagnosed with mercury poisoning. I was beginning to have difficulty walking, every bone in my body ached. I became extremely weak (Just a week hitherto the dental incident I was pumping weights at the gym and swimming laps on a regular basis) and now had a migraine headache for weeks on end which left me virtually incapacitated, unable to work and thus unable to provide much needed income for my family, which I have otherwise always been the main provider for. This incident caused every tooth in my mouth to hurt to the extent I feared I would lose all my teeth. My speech was slurring and I began having difficulty remembering things. I spent weeks in bed and was considering what to write in my last will and testament.

I did finally find a doctor who knew about these things. I began IV chelation and within weeks my bones stopped aching and my jaw/teeth aches subsided. I began to regain my muscle strength. My memory returned. I began to return to work.

It has been approximately 18 months now that I have been dealing still with the after effects of this mercury overload. I am generally as well as can be expected considering everything but still have recurring bouts of the mercury illness (aching bones/feet, general extreme fatigue, extreme constipation, migraine headaches, swollen lymph glands on the neck that wil not subside). It has been quite a (expensive and time consuming) battle of nutrition, chelating, and colon cleansing. I have had 3 teeth removed in the process and will have 4 or 5 more removed as well soon since the lymph glands refuse to get better. I never once in my life prior to this incident had swollen glands or earaches. I do still have some amalgam fillings and can clearly see now, in hindsight, that a number of minor mystery complaints I had prior to the dental incident are related to the amalgams in my mouth, which have otherwise been slowly creating the symptoms that the dental incident caused a full blown version of overnight.

Because of the ADA's stance on mercury amalgam. it has become clear to me over these past 19 months that dentists are both very poorly educated and poorly trained. In my case, I specifically requested that the dentist not use any mercury in filling work but he took the liberty to go ahead and use it anyway, quite sloppily. It has become evident to me that this is not a singular incident, that dentists will often use amalgam, even under composite fillings, when amalgam has not been requested by a patient, because of the reassurances of the ADA concerning mercury amalgam. Dentists are not trained to diagnose overall body health issues, they do not concern themselves with anything beyond the tooth and as a result I and many others suffer from their lack of education. They are not doctors and Dr. should not be part of their title since a (very) false sense of trust is therein created for the patient.

The mercury amalgam fillings in my mouth, now approximately 30-35 years old, have virtually destroyed every tooth they have been set in. My unfilled teeth, at the age of 48, are still in relatively fine shape all on their own. There are black pits and major fractures in every amalgam filled tooth, most of which were quite obviously never truly necessary but done as 'precautions' when I was a child. It is even amazing that all my siblings also have the exact same pattern of fillings by this dentist, as though they also each had the exact same cavities in the exact same teeth. It is a sham and a scam. My unfilled teeth suffer somewhat from the black pitting as well. Interestingly enough, at the height of my mercury illness and recurring bouts of it, my fingernails also will have the same black pitting occur that occurs on my teeth. You can make the connection yourself, as I have.

One other note. - Removing amalgam filling can be very expensive. this needs to be dealt with through legislation with a price cap. Since one of the reasons amalgam is placed is simple 'cost effectiveness' (without concern for the cost to one's overall health), removing amalgam safely and properly by so-called biological dentists should also be required to be cost effective. My dental incident was 19 months ago and I sit here still, with the very thing that made me ill in the first place, still in my mouth because after being so sick and unable to really work for months and then having to pay cash to the doctor (who I respect immensely) for the IV chelation, I am left unable to afford the exhorbitant fees of a well trained well informed dentist who would otherwise help me. I have chosen by now to simply pull the teeth, sad but true. Thank you, ADA, for my not so beautiful smile. Thank you, ADA, for the loss of my health. I cannot begin now, at this very moment, to tally the cost both financially and physically but restitution is long overdue and it pales to the 'cost effectiveness' of placing the amalgam fillings.

What an excellent testimony. Thanks for sharing! What these people are doing is criminal and I agree that the initial "cost effectiveness" most definitely pales in comparison with the long term price that many of us pay with our health/lives and finances in a desperate attempt to put right what has been wronged (If they can). It disgusts and angers me.

I totally agree that why on EARTH are dentists giving themselves "Doctor" as title? Doctor of what? Doctor of teeth?

I should have posted it to you first to catch my syntax error on the 'pales in comparison' part, Bex. oh well i think the meaning is clear.

Doctors of stupidity with a big BS.

Hey Bex, if you would be kind enough to use a large face type my mercury laden eyeballs would be grateful.

heh heh

Hows this? wink. Doctors of stupidity with a big BS. I like that hehe.

What did you think of the general dentist I went to (mainstream), who admitted that though he was "metal free" that it had nothing to do with the "toxicity" of mercury in amalgam. In his words "Mercury is very toxic and volatile to the environment and is a very big problem....but it is safe in the mouth".

I like it, makes life much easier. I can sit back away from the desk with my feet up.

I think I would have told that dentist flat out that that it sounds like a woosey line of BS to me and that he could eat it himself because I don't buy it. and then I would have walked right out without stopping a moment to get billed for the consult at the front desk.

and if they yelled after me to pay the bill i'd tell them to put it in their own mouths where it's safer. which of course they would repeat to the dentist...

So Sick, you still have amalgams in your mouth? I hope you get them replaced soon. How many amalgams did you have in total? I had 25. Mine have all been replaced. The last one was replaced 4 months ago. I was in such bad shape since then. My health is starting to improve over the past few weeks, however it has been a gradual improvement.

No I am not replacing them i am having the teeth out, extracted. Lymph gland problem and afraid to add new unknowns to the situaion. I'm inviting cancer as it for letting it go for so long but I did have to wait and see if the glands would go down on their own I guess. I have some issues with plastics so extract it is. they are rear molars, i will still have molars just not the big ones in the very back. I will survive it don't worry. I just have to cut the prime rib a bit thinner.

I think there were 12 originally.

hangin in there smile

IV chelation is the only thing that really helped me at first. I know there is a lot of bad talk about IV chelation, but too bad is all I can say because it's great stuff when done proper, has saved many lives besides my own. I would probably be in a wheelchair or dead if it weren't for that. I am not just saying it to hear myself.

Yeah I should have done just that. Instead I sat and let him do his thing (He was only giving a check up and clean etc). But he charged me a RIDICULOUS amount at the end of it. Stupid me, should have checked beforehand, but the bill I got I would never have expected. I was disgusted. Glad to say I will never be going back to him. Greedy.

What did he charge you just out of curiousity? That's a red flag to me... if a professional charges way past the norm for something, unless there is a very good reason that leaves a smile on your face instead of a frown (like he's really really good at what he does and you want to tell everyone about him) it otherwise means he's in trouble and needs cash and is trying to impress you only with high prices but lacks the real product. You, as a patron, do have a right to refuse to pay for services you are unhappy with.

His services were ok. He did the check-up, scale and clean just fine. But his prices to me were outrageous. I was silly enough to assume it would be a standard charge and had an idea of what it might be.

But it maybe because he is in the city centre. Location I guess. But here it is:

For an examination/consultation - $80
Scale and polish - $150
For pixture/toothbrush head - $20
Cost of treatment - $250
G.S.T. - $31.25
TOTAL - 281.25

So basically, for a session that barely lasted half an hour with a quick check of my teeth and a scale and polish with a few extras thrown in (pixtures and electric tooth brush head) he charges me nearly 300 dollars.....

Now maybe that's quite normal, but to me it seemed over the top. This is in New Zealand dollars, so I am unsure what that would be in US. Afterwards I rang another dentist out of curiosity to see what their charges were and they were radically cheaper! I wish I could recall the costs over the phone, but it was less than half that amount.

What also annoyed me greatly was. Over the phone I was told they would give me an xray. Yet once I was there? They then told me their xray machine was out of order so it couldn't be used. They waited till I was in the chair to tell me that. I guess just in case I had decided to go elsewhere.
