Apologies up front for, yet again, posting another Lyme thread here in the Amalgam Forum. But I wanted to put this out there for exposure -- hoping that someone, somewhere might have contacts or resources to help. This young woman's Lyme story is not unlike so many others across the globe.

This is a 7 minute video of a young woman who has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease but has been refused adequate treatment in British Columbia, Canada. The video includes a montage of photos and a written narration of her story -- done by her father.

My daughter Marie McQuhae is suffering from a disease that BC doctors refuse to treat - commonly known as “lyme disease”.

What it should be called is” Tick Borne Infectious Disease” (TBID) - or even better, Vector-Borne Zoonosis.

The doctor overseeing her care dismissed any evidence of Lyme disease, even though she has two positive tests for Lyme disease from government certified labs recognized thoughout the US and Canada, and an "Equivocal" for lyme from the BCCDC that would be interpreted as a positive by most lyme literate doctors.

CBC news reporter Kathy Tomlinson reported the story about Marie on their GO PUBLIC segment. However, before the story could be reported, as a precaution and for legal reasons, her manager, Luke Brocki required documentation to support my claims that Marie had been refused, denied, harrased, interrogated and insulted by BC doctors and infectious disease specialists.

I gave CBC NEWS the documentation, and their lawyers gave it the thumbs up. To see the report just Google “Marie McQuhae” and you will find many links about her.

On March18, '08, we traveled to Seattle to consult with a well know specialist. Upon arrival, Marie had to be carried in to the Dr's office for her appointment.

The Dr. was clearly shaken to see the critical condition Marie was in, the results of Marie being continually denied treatment by BC doctors, and the resulting very late diagnosis.

A lyme literate Dr in July of 2007 at his Vancouver “Private Clinic”confermed our suspicion of Lyme Disease. The late diagnosis was due to the fact that BC doctors had continually told us that Lyme disease is very rare, and not considered to be a concern.

Marie’s original family Dr reported that there is NO Lyme disease here, without even investigating for TBID, recommended psychiatric treatment, even though the Mental Health professionals had already not been able to find mental deficiencies that explained her deteriorating physical condition.

Marie has not received proper medical treatment and her condition is now “critical”. She does not have a family physician to be her “advocate” for prescribed treatments and the many necessary tests needed to monitor complications from the drugs and disease.

She struggles daily with tremendous pain and difficulty trying to breathe, eat, sleep, walk, talk, etc. She may end her struggle by “Paying the ultimate price!”

Our family is exhausted emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and financially from trying to navigate through the politics, and arrogance of the Infectious Disease Specialists and Health Regulators.

Supposed "specialists" who claim that Lyme disease is rare, even in the face of the recently released Lyme Disease Review 2007 (Health Canada) with BCCDC's own surveillance reports showing that many areas in British Columbia such as Tofino, Duncan, and coincidently, many other high human population areas are “hot spots” for ticks (they don't collect many infectious tick species, fleas, lice, mites, and biting flies that carry the bacteria that cause Lyme and related infections!).

This disease is the new Aids! It is the fastest growing vector-borne infectious disease in N. America.CDC reports show incidences of TBIDs outwiegh AIDS, West Nile, and SARS combined.

I am amazed at Marie’s solid conviction in her Christian faith, she has suffered and endured years of tremendous physical and emotional pain.

Her prayers continue to go “unanswered” as well as those who continue to pray for her. She maintains her loyalty to Jesus Christ, which baffles me as I struggle with my faith.

Marie is a truly amazing young woman, who has demonstrated to us (her family), integrity, character, fortitude, and a personality that is clearly coming from a "Divine Source".

She continues to battle on daily, without the co-operation or help from our Government and a very hostile Health Care System that is also refusing treatment for thousands of people in North America.

Ineresting the dad compares the illness to AIDS and SARS, both lab created illnesses, don't know about West Nile, haven't put my focus on that one, prolly is, though.
Word is, the Asian PTB ( powers that be) are aware of the genetic targeting of their tribe with the SARS and are not at all happy, which could be a good thing .

Benjamin Fulford who lives in Japan and was the financial correspondant for Forbes magazine is very much workin with the Japanese govt.(an I believe some Chinese higher-ups) to try an stop some a these evil practices. Still, cold comfort for Marie, an all the good folks really sufferin here.
Like I said, if they can manufacture these illnesse, they got a cure or somethin damn close to it.

My doctors have told me that when I was bitten (by a sandfly of all things), I got the entire "toxic pea soup of infections." It was explained to me as kind of a super bug -- containing Lyme, Babesia, Mycoplasma, Bartonella and Erhlichia. What kind of an infection is that?!!! And what kind of a bacterial infection takes months (sometimes years) of treatment?! And, my situation is NOT unique. There are millions like me according to my Lyme docs. Some of the millions have been misdiagnosed, undiagnosed, or are in treatment, etc.

Anyway, I need to focus on healing and not allow myself to contemplate too much into the darker side at the moment. I've already had to contend with the other darker aspects of this disease -- i.e., the medical establishment ignoring it, ignoring tests, or refusing to test, and refusing to treat. Being ridiculed, scorned, ignored, and marginalized by previous doctors in years past.

I'm in treatment now and will be for a long while. And if ever I get well, I might just become a damn activist. lol!!! Because I do know one thing . . . I would never have finally gotten the correct diagnosis, testing and evaluation unless I had pursued it myself. I went through many, many doctors and it took me years. We all have to be proactive about our health.

For those that were interested, I thought I'd share an update on Marie McQuhae, the young woman who has been gravely ill with Lyme Disease and has been unable to get treatment in Canada. IIt was nearly a month ago that Marie's father placed out a global call for help in a YouTube video to try and save his daughter's life.

Alot of work has been done by many people who answered Marie's father's call for help. Below is an update from a family spokesman and also some links to some videos of Canadian news coverage of Marie's story over the last few days.

In summary, Marie was flown by private aircraft yesterday to California where she will begin intensive treatment for her Lyme and Co-Infections.

Sorry for posting this in the Amalgam Forum everyone. But to be honest, I had promised Jay (Marie's father) that I'd try and share their plight with as many people as I could. I knew that more people might see this in this Forum then in the Lyme Disease Forum.

Just got back from the send off in Victoria for Marie.

In attendance was Doug Routley and David Cubberley MLA plus their assistants. We had 4 lyme sufferers show up and two held the banner that I made. As far as media goes we had the following

CHEK - TV
Times Colonist - news paper

Shannon, Peter and Dr. M got off the plane at the airport and I made sure that they each were interviewed. Marie did not leave the van but the cameras did peer in at her The media interviewed myself, plus the two MLA's.

A lot has happened since Marie left the Duncan Hospital as shown in the YouTube Video.

Marie is going to Dr. Harris' clinic in Redwood California for treatment, having an appointment for next Tuesday

With the aid of a very kind LLMD in Seattle, we've managed to get two other very ill Vancouver area Lymies in to see Dr. Harris the day after Marie's appointment, and they will travel with Marie!

A corporate aircraft will be leaving Van Int South Terminal for Victoria at 12:00 PM on Monday with our comrades Shannon, her hubby Graham, and Peter aboard.

The Flight will then depart from Victoria with Marie and Jay aboard heading for Oakland at 1:00 PM. They will travel from Oakland by transporter to accommodation in Redwood, where they will await their appointments with Dr. Harris.

Her condition hasn't improved.

Marie left Victoria General yesterday where she's been since last Sat, having blood work, vitals, organs, etc. examined in preparation for her trip.

While in hospital, she was visited by popular musician Dallas Green (formerly of Alexis on Fire) who mentioned Marie in his performance last night. He had a number of his T-shirts delivered to Marie, and there was mention of it in today's Times Colonist.

A Victoria area clothing company has offered her any clothing she would like to have.

Her father is working constantly to feed her the pure and specialized foods that she can tolerate, and doing what he can to have Marie get as much sleep as possible. Getting her strength up a bit for the trip is the focus right now. She is currently taking micro doses of antibiotics.

Mom Susan has just received confirmation of Babesia in addition to Lyme, and is having a hard time coping as well.

The Vancouver Lyme groups are hoping to have a send off for Shannon and Peter, at Vancouver Int South Terminal, and the Victoria group will be holding one for Marie as well at Victoria Int in Sydney - hopefully with press and MLAs Cubberly and/or Routley in attendance.

Marie's plight and her YouTube video have brought new Lyme awareness, and the maltreatment of BC/Canadian patients to the forefront, and it is a major embarrassment to our Health Care "Regulators" on a world-wide basis.

It has also brought concerned Politicians into the picture, and some Doctors are, at least saying that they are aware of Lyme disease here, but won't risk their practices knowing how the College has treated other MDs will to stand their ground in terms of Lyme Diagnosis and treatment. Some are telling their patients that they can't be treated here, and will have to go to the US!

Along with the success of getting Marie into the US for treatment, the successful May 15th rally at the Legislature has our local Lyme support group members fired up to do even more - and in this case, let's hope it's contageous, spreading to all of Canada's Lymies and Lyme support groups.

With thanks to all who have supported Marie in many ways, and special thanks to a personal friend of Jay's in Ottawa, a certain Seattle LLMD, some wonderful people in Minnesota & New Hampshire, a lawyer helping the McQuhae family, MLAs Cubberly and Routley, Vancouver and Victoria support groups, and Dr. Harris, of course.
