For the last few months I have noticed that my hair seems to be falling out, like when I wash it or brush it, it seems to come out in clumps. I also have felt little areas of short spikey bits all over my head. It isnt really noticable, like I dont look like Im going bald, but it does seem to be getting worse. Has anyone else experienced this or knows what causes it. Thanks Tracy x

hair falling out in clumps is usually caused by some sort of allergy , to either medications or enviroment , if it falls out all over this is usually a hormone imbalance , women going through menopause will start to thin out due to estrogen levels dropping and testosterone levels increasing and converting to dihydrotestosterone or dht which most men with male pattern baldness suffer from the good news is that the spikes means that new hair is growing back to replace the old hair that fell out

Thanks Mikey, I think mine sounds like the latter. You are a mine of information. I'm beginnig to put a few things together and you may be onto something with the Hormone thing. I've realised that my symptoms seem to increase significantly a few days before Menstruation, so I'm starting to think there may be a definite link. When I was ill with the same symptoms over twenty years ago, but not so profound, I was reccommended Progesterone by my Health Visitor. I'm sure it helped, so will carry on with it. Thanks again Tracy x
