Hi William. Correct. To my mind there is no need to do a DMPS challenge test. Mercury poisoning can easily be diagnosed from your mercury history, your symptoms, a hair tests…..i don’t see the point of doing a challenge test which has a high likelihood of really hurting you. Mercury gets all stirred up, some comes out of your body for sure, but some resettles in interesting places….like your brain! And you don’t want it there. The test results are pointless too and don’t mean anything. From what I have read the only time one should be even considered is if you need it for insurance, but even then……the risks massively outweigh the minimal benefit.
You are right to question your doctor. The doctor may be really good in some things, but in mercury he knows just enough to hurt you. I would never do a challenge test (with or without amalgams in) and you are wise to want to avoid one. Congrats on finding the forum, doing a bit of research, just to see if your doctor knows what he’s doing. IMHO he doesn’t know what hes doing if he wants you to do a challenge test.

http://www.dmpsbackfire.com/reports/default.shtmlYup your doctor wanted you to do that. Those horrid things could have happened to you.
Do you want to see that doc again? Think how bad that would have funked you up! yes….just enough knowledge to really hurt you!
The mercury chelators, DMSA, DMPS, ALA are all dangerous IF they are taken incorrectly.
I use the Cutler Protocol which is taking very low doses very frequently. Every 4 hours even waking at night…this minimises problems and allows me to control how much mercury I excrete. I choose to excrete just enough so that it does not hurt me and screw up me life.
Some people take chelators infrequently, we have plenty of friends on this forum doing that and they do just fine, however we also have plenty of people getting hurt by doing it this way. Many people massively regret chelating in this infrequent style. Why do they regret it? Because it really screwed ‘em up.
For safely; frequent low dose chelation is what I do. That’s the Cutler protocol.
Finding a doctor to help is……tricky. There are very few available that know how to safely chelate mercury. The majority of people in this forum have to depend on their own research and understanding to get better.
The best thing you can do right now to educate yourself, so that the next doctor you find, that knows just enough to hurt you, doesn’t get the chance to hurt you. You got lucky this time because you did some research.
To educate yourself, to self diagnose yourself, to learn how to get better, to learn how to avoid all the bloody problems (because there are loads) buy this book…….
“Amalgam Illness” by Andrew Hall Cutler
