My ND is not allowing any more dsma until I have labs done on sulfation pathways because of the severity of my redistribution symptoms. My lead poisoning is worse than my Hg poisoning, and she is recommending edta to remove some lead first before doing the dmsa again, after the pathways are checked. What do you all think? Mark

Hi Mark,
Which way were you taking DMSA? If you have hg poisoning, you can redistribute mercury just from taking it incorrectly. Anything other than frequent 4 hourly dosage was enough to hurt me alot.
Though yes, that was also likely because of my pathways being messed up, I do not believe that moving mercury around indiscrimmanently is the wisest move anyway. Some can handle it just fine and do well on other protocols, some like me do not.
Also, hg poisoning can apparently allow other toxic metals to more easily get through and build up. Many of us are multiple metal toxic anyway. So perhaps your ND, is doing the right thing by treating other metal too.
DMSA does both. It chelates lead and mercury, in fact it chelates lead even better so I hear.
If she can get your pathways improved? That's great, but I'd definitely watch the way you use DMSA, it can really do a number on you.

My lead levels were higher than my mercury too. My mercury blood levels were off the charts when I first tested but in combo with the urine and bm analysis' my lead was actually higher overall.
I really liked the EDTA. My doctor did IV EDTA with me, and then added DMPS later for the mercury, to get a good amount of lead out first, which the EDTA is pretty good at. The IV is different than something like oral dmsa in that it goes straight into your bloodstream, and bypasses the liver that way, as opposed to an oral chelator like dmsa which will go to your liver first, leaving very little to clean your blood unless you do lots of high doses I guess.. So your blood gets cleaned out real good and you really don't experience any redristribution as a result. I didn't anyway. It feels terrible the first few weeks especially, but after that you should make quick progress, feeling lousy the day of chelation but having the rest of the week to feel pretty good. then that week becomes two weeks of feeling good etc etc. and you can start moving off the IV to something else, in my case I started eating a lot of cilantro and had a great summer. In january, Feb and March of 2007 i was limping, all my bones hurt, I couldn't run, I walked slowly. I was running without any pain whatsoever by May of 2007. I started chelation in mid Feb of that year. I stopped the IV's altogether in late May/early June, no longer feeling the need to spend the cash after discovering the cilantro. I transitioned into the cilantro by using a dmsa formula a few times a week before bed. Just once a day like that, i didn;t have any problems with it whatsoever, probably because my blood had been cleaned out.
I really miss my fresh cilantro, but May is just around the corner...
The EDTA makes you look real good too. Friends were asking me where I had found the fountain of youth. It cleans out your arteries and improves your blood flow plus chelates the lead. i did the slow drip, the 3-4 hour sessions.
Do some colon cleansing too with that. The IV chelators dissolve a lot of stuff in your blood and you pee it out but some of it will go out via your colon too so you need to keep yourself moving along real good down there to avoid achy hips etc.
The EDTA did give me headaches, not major migraines but a good hefty pressure... eating just a little bit of cilantro afterward helped that too.
Take a quart of water with you if you get the IV and sip it as you chelate so that you pee quickly.
I am (almost) a new woman. I think the lead had been bothering me for years and I never knew it.

Sounds like a good idea. DMSA scares me. Using EDTA wouldn't bother me. One thing people need to keep in mind is to take extra mineral supplements when chelating. Chelation doesn't just remove the unwanted minerals, but also removes some important minerals.

Bex, I was doing Andy's protocol w/10mg x 3 1/2 hours. ND wants me to do those long release edta suppositories. Anyone have any experience with them? Mark

No, not I. But let me know your experience if you try them. The EDTA is good stuff. but orally, perhaps as suppositories, I really don't know. i have a liquid edta solution that helps a bit. Doesn't compare to the IV straight to the vein in your arm though. Personally I'd try the cilantro pesto and see if it helps you before bothering with the chore and expense of the suppositories. If you are anyting like me, high lead and mercury, you may get the same marvelous feeling i get from the cilantro. you have to fix it properly with plenty of garlic, the recipe is here: http://herballure.com/ubbthreads/sh...er=249106&Main=238723#Post248656cilantro will help your body naturally eliminate lead, mercury, aluminum, who knows what else. If you've been using another chelator already to get some of the poisons out you should be fine with this recipe. You'll know it's working when your bm's smell like an old tin can.
