I've only ever had this in the US, from a shop called Wild Oats. The only almond butter I can buy from UK shops is roasted.

You used to be able to grind your own almond butter in-store at Wild Oats but they'd done away with the machine on my last visit. However, they had a bewildering array of nut butters in jars. The raw almond butter was heavenly. I didn't like going back to my own roasted kind. Besides, doesn't roasting kill a lot of the goodness in a nut?

I have a top-of-the-line juicer with an attachment for making nut butter. However, all I can get from almonds is a really fine powder. I can buy powdered almonds from a shop. I want that lovely sticky almond butter LOL.

I've hunted online but would you believe that just a few shops here sell it -- £15 for a 500g jar. One place was going to charge me £6 shipping on top of it. No way. And I didn't pay anything like that for the almond butter I bought in the US. Why is everything in the UK such a ripoff?

Does anyone here buy raw almond butter cheaper than this -- or do you make your own?

This is roasted in its skins, so maybe the nut inside is raw(ish)

Very kind of you to look, thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Still roasted though. If you don't want the enzymes killed then you need to keep raw food below about 100F, I think it is. I'm no expert there.

The almond butter from detoxyourworld is to die for. Seriously it is really good stuff. That jar is a big jar too. I eat it everyday and lasts me 3-4 of weeks. The hemp seed butter is good too, but not as good as the almond. Both are raw and not roasted.

I used to get the cheap stuff from Meriden, but the taste is not as good, its roasted…it has a chemical taste to it too.

I normally slip in one or two of those raw chocolate bars as well <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

My last order was 3 x nut butters, maca powder, agave nectar, cashew nuts, olives, 2 x Himalayan rock salt…cost a bomb but lasts a long time and the taste makes the other gunk pale into insignificance.

Did you know, though, that the Detoxyourworld stuff has sunflower oil added? More omega-6 in my diet? No thanks. Goodness knows why anyone would put that stuff in almond butter.
