Are any of you able to do any exercise and what kind of exercise do you do?

I am trying to get back into a routine starting with 10 minutes of gentle yoga first thing in the morning and 10 minutes of bouncing on the mini trampoline midmorning.

I can usually manage a 10/15 minute walk most days but some days are much more challenging to find the extra energy.
And if I get exhausted it can set me back a few more days and then feel reluctant to do it again...

I know the expression if you fall off the horse get back on again..but I still have to be sensible about not overdoing it ...

No exercise for me yet! Boo hoo!

Walking is fine, I try and get in 20-30 mins per day.

I’d love to restart my yoga, I really miss it, but alas, muscle weakness in my lower back prevents even that. I know from previous attempts to restart that there is no point (for me anyway) until the muscle weakness is much much less. I’d just injure myself. I will know when I am ready to re-start, which is not yet.

I used to do yoga 6 days a week……. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

Ho hum…….

Hi and Happy new year, Sunshine
That's a shame about the yoga.I miss it too but my only excuse is lack of discipline which is pathetic.
I will go forth and do yoga each morning starting now.
no more excuses.no more procrastinating which is what I do...

Are you sure ,there must be some form of yoga you can do?
My friend who had chronic fatigue(which turned out to be Lymes disease) she did some kind of yoga which involved very little movement...one especially for people with fatigue.

Do you meditate?

Hi. I doubt anyone here likes exercising. I can do it, but I wouldn't feel well afterwards (probably not a catastrophe though). What I know to be good is going out for a walk, because that stimulates the immune system to work better. But definitely do not do anything that is too stressing; I did the mistake once and felt almost unreal (spaciness, drugged feeling) afterwards for an hour or so.

I cut big big logs with a chainsaw and then i chop em up with an axe. Works up a marvelous sweat. then I take a shower. then I do laundry and cook dinner. then i go skiing.

daily routine almost. I try to get a couple hours of money making tasks in there too. I skip a few days with the chainsaw here and there.

works for me. whew. sleep like a log at bedtime. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

hey sunshine I hear you can eat garlic again. you should try my cilantro pesto. better than DMPS some say... it is real effective.

i love exercising... as long as it's productive or fun. the chainsaw is the sweatiest workout i know even in 15 degree weather.

before the worst symtoms hit me 1 1/2 years ago I use to mountain bike almost every day in warm weather and wieght lift every day ( alternate different muscle groups ) I miss it alot , every time I would try to work out , my sysmtoms would get worse within 3 days , so for now I will just have to put it on hold , but I still do alot of snow removal which is a workout in itself, we get alot of snow here in northern michigan in the winter months

snow shoveling... bad for the back, I stay away from stuff like that. men's work, not for me. I was going to the gym a while, I generally don't lift over 80 lbs or so. Almost every person I know, male or female who spends a lot of time at the gym lifting weights has major back problems.

It sounds like I do a lot but really I do just a bit of something every single day. For instance I am working on a big old tree with the chainsaw today, the past several days actually, skipped a couple days there but I go out and I'll never spend more than an hour out there with that. I can ski for hours on end, that may sound physical, great leg workout I guess but really it's more balance, you are moving downhill afterall. got me a nice brush burn on my shin from rubbing against my boots a few days ago, that'll slow me down a bit a couple days. I love the cold fresh air.

of course, once a week or so I spend the entire day on the couch..

I hardly used the bike all summer. mostly it was just too hot.

Hi Sunflower. Yeah, I suppose I could fine a new yoga technique. I used to do ashtanga yoga, but I can’t even do a downward dog these days.

Meditate: I practice the Alexander technique everyday and that is similar to meditating. 15-30 minutes of quiet time each day with just me, myself and I.

Sos: sounds like a great regime you got going there…skiing, chopping, sofa. Exercise and relaxation.

I like walking. I often walk a few miles a day when I feel well enough to do it. The key to walking for exercise is to have comfortable lightweight shoes. I like wearing Rockports. I like to listen to podcasts while walking. Last year I lost 30 pounds by doing plenty of walking. I try to schedule my walking while doing errands.

I practiced martial arts for 5 years before my symptoms hit their peak. I haven't trained for about 9 months now but hope to start up again real soon. I did weight lifting for a while but decided it wasn't really for me, bodybuilders are some of the most unhealthy people I have ever met!

I have also just started a running plan which is demanding but worthwhile. I am hoping to be able to run for 30 minutes straight in 7 weeks time. The hardest part is actually getting out there and doing it when you feel like crap!

I might give it a try some time next month , but will start out very slow , just trying to avoid a relapse , maybe on the days where I am using chelators so they will bind with any mercury that is mobilized during the workout

I have been excercising since August. I started very slow with about 5 minutes and am up to 15 min. now. Not much but a small acomplishment I will take.

Mikey, I suggest walking. Get some comfortable lightweight shoes if you don't already have some. My favorite brand of lightweight walking shoes is Rockport. I have several different models of those. If you can't comfortably walk long distances outside due to snowy or icy weather, then I suggest walking around some malls a few times.

When I was very mercury toxic, exercise could make me very ill from redistribution of metals. I pushed myself to do things I ought not to have done many times, but I did always recover and it didn't take "too" long to bounce back.

The best exercises have proven to be rebounding and walking (treadmill or outdoors). But I'd advise starting gently and pacing yourself, because I know how it feels to have to recover.

The treadmill I got has proven to be one of the best things I invested in. And I started to use it when I was toxic (on flat level) and built myself up from there. I believe now it was a great help in my healing / improvements from mercury. Later when less toxic, I was able to put it on full incline and walk for a full 45 minutes or more. I also did push ups and stomach exercises etc.

That is how healthy I was getting, due to less metals inside my body, plus the gradual build up of exercise itself. Mercury can come out via the pores too, so it helped with that.

Now? Things are different. I can hardly do anything because of the virus I have (worse than how I was with just mercury). So I cannot do any incline walking, nor can I do strengthening exercises (like push ups etc).

If I do anything at all that causes my body to have to use more muscle strength, that's when I get into more trouble. I have been ill for weeks after doing so. The symptoms are viral/infection related.

So this is the way it is these days and no amount of pushing it or keeping it going breaks through it. I just decline further and the recovery process takes even longer. It can be pretty devastating to say the least.

I can still do some rebounding and gentle flat level walking, so long as I don't do these things for too long.
