I got a call the other day from a lawyer and he wanted to know if I wanted to sue the dentist that did this to me.I guess my mom called him ,after a hour long conversation with him my mind is mixed up.The lawyer said that a adult should only have 4 to 5 fillings in your mouth the dentist know this .iIs on the container so he said with 21 fillings that i am 3x the legal amount. Also some how theres a way around statue of limitations on a on going disease?I m not sure what i want to do.im supposed to tell him my answer on tuesday. I need some feed back because i never thought about this. [color:"blue"] [color:"blue"]

I would go for it , just for the fact that even if you lose the case the publicity would bring the spot light on the whole amalgam issue ,and help other people that are unaware that they too may be poisoned , I just wish that I was in the position to do so.
I had most of my amalgams installed when I was in the military and can not sue the military as part of my retirement contract ,but if any one knows of a class action law suit against the A.D.A I would definitly like to get in on that one for sure?

I would go for it too Melissa, put it all in the lawyer's hands, that is absolutely horrendous what he did to your health by putting that much mercury in, I am amazed that you can still walk and talk.

Take him to the cleaners, he deserves all he gets!!! With the money that you get, you can get all the best care you need to get well again. And make sure the lawyers give you your fair share too.

Best luck and best love,

21 fillings is not unheard of, but it is disgusting and I think many people don't wish to make a fuss, which is why some of these dentists get away with it and aren't concerned about sueing.

I hope you give it a go, because this is outrageous. I have had 8 fillings myself, and now I see from what you said, that too was too much! but 21???

I'm shocked. They ALWAYS make the false claim that the mercury inside the amalgam is an insignificant amount and does not come out of the filling. No matter what proof given, the ADA will not move from this or they will be sued and ruined if they make such an admission, considering how many millions of people have been poisoned becuase of them.

I know that they used to fill teeth once even when there were no cavities as their idea of preventative measures. I believe it was done to train the new dentists too. Far from preventing, often they filled the teeth so much the structure of the tooth relied on the amalgam. Remove some amalgam and often you'll find barely any tooth structure left.

Over filling teeth can weaken the tooth structure, so one wonders how they got away with filling teeth for the sake of it?

Go for it.

If I had been living in Florida when the dentists made me sick I would have been able to find a lawyer in a heartbeat. I spoke to lawyers in Florida as a matter of fact because there are bunches down there who do dental malpractice. I figure, my med bills, my pain and suffering, loss of ability to work normally for 3-5 months, for sure are probably worth close to 75,000-100,000.00 easily, and then of course that's not even taking into account the strong possibilty of the ongoing current and future detriment caused to my health through this recent episode.

But where I live, there aren't any lawyers who do dental malpractice, unless of course someone dies and I wasn't hgoing to try to prove anything to that extent..

Most defintely, go for it. Because, dentists aren't being policed like drunk drivers on a highway even though their actions are often much worse and much more common... in that through their actions they leave so many people handicapped, large or small... the only way to police them is through lawsuits.

definitely, go for it.

A statute of limitations sort of applies, but not always. Since you were unaware of what was causing your problems till the problems showed up enmasse the statute of limitations doesn't really apply becayuse you didn't know what caused problem until the problem was diagnosed, eg; the dentist lied to you and you believed him eg; lying is not an excuse to avoid the law, like ignorance, on his part. He decieved you.

Michigan probably has good dental malpractice too. Alas, I am living in the backward boonies where people still accept their aching bones as old age, even if they are only 30 and dentists are getting away with murder, literally.

I would love to know what happens. I wasn't aware that the legal limit was 4-5 fillings. Give us all the gory details and go for big bucks because it's not only your current and past health affected, it's your future health too.

I am walking again only by the grace of GOD.Since I got sick he has been my only strenth.
I had ordered books from kevin truedu"the natural cure books" and this guy called me to see why I ordered these books and we where talking about mercury and what happened so he informed me that he had mercury poisoning and he went to hal higgins and had them removed and he struggled for 4 years to get the mercury out completly.now he lives in Michigan so to make a long story short he was the one who called the lawyer. So the lawyer called about 1 hr ago to get my side and he wants my case to become a land mark case He is from birmingham mi. He said that its going to be a major battle because he wants to sue the dentist,ADA and wants to contact Delta my insurace company and have them step in also because the dentist would of had to falsify the billing in order to get paid.If delta was billed in 1 months time for 21 fillings they would of denied it and would of investigated it.I have thankfully kept all paperwork since the beginning all bills,dr notes, med records.Which I feel was the first right thing i have done.
Even if I dont get anything I will have raised an eyebrow and maybe saved someone else from going through this mercury hell.
Maybe god hasnt healed me in order to save some one else from this. That would make me happy to know the lord used me for that.
So I AM GOING FOR IT.

stars? I saw that!

Thanks, but the only gratuity I need is to see the dentist finally pay up.

'bout time. Sorry you have to be the one to suffer it, I know your pain well, missing teeth and all. Jesus walking me through daily too. I think this is one that would have killed me if he weren't here. I felt one inch from dead several months ago no kidding.

Be blessed Melissa, sleep well and go the whole route on this one, we will all will be grateful.

Prayers for ya!

Melissa, one person can make more difference than they realise. IF you don't win, you will still be part of making a difference. Making waves and the more publicity these people with the mercury? the better. They prefer to work quietly, they don't like having things ruffled and made known. People like us aren't suppose to do that you know We're supposed to put up and shut up

I say go for it too!!! I believe you could win too just because God is tired of seeing us all sick and struggling for the answers to heal our own bodies. Ha, some medical profession...they were suppose to cure us. Seriously, how could a dentist deny the fact that what is done in the mouth does not affect the body and vice verse. It's really screwed up and I feel you could do some good. Especially, since you have all the records, receipts, and your insurance company is being pulled into it all Yeah I say go for it. More awareness is what this world needs. Yes I believe with a case like this you would stir up some things and if nothing else a few more people would figure out why they are sick and tired all the time. Keep us posted, I would be interested in seeing the outcome. My dentist put 8 amalgams in my mouth in one sitting....I did not know they were not suppose to put more than 4 or 5...interesting. Your lawyer might just be opening a new door for the rest of us. Good Luck and i will be praying for you and your case to win. Go For It!!!

From the ages of 5-12, I went to a dentist who later messed up my cousin's teeth by giving her an unnecessary retainer, causing her to need braces. She'd always had to give me 9+ shots when drilling my teeth and would say things like "It doesn't really hurt, it's just unpleasant." During the years I saw her, I got multiple amalgams, probably around 9 or so, that fell out and crumbled in my food and gum. One even fell out a week after she put it in!
Anyway, I started seeing another dentist who said that her work was sloppy and expressed concern about amalgams, saying I shouldn't let her put them in anymore. During this time, my old amalgam-pushing dentist came down with ovarian cancer, and her son was soon to follow with a rare brain stem cancer that was supposed to be incurable (he's still alive thanks to the best treatment).
Since the new dentist only worked on patients under the age of 18, I went back to the old one again about 6 years ago. She tried to persuade me to get amalgams again but finally agreed to use porcelain after some arguing.
I was just reading about a study done on dentists/dental assistants who still use amalgams which said that every one of them showed dangerously high levels of mercury upon medical testing...not just the so-called "sensitive" individuals. I was thinking about that and the fact that mercury is a known carcinogen. Could it have played a role in my dentist's cancer or that of her previously healthy 11 year old son? I'll never know, but it seems likely since she almost exclusively used amalgams on her patients for 20+ years.
I guess what I'm getting at is that I WISH I could have sued her for doing work that was "shoddy" as the other dentist called it and for the numerous times my fillings fell out. She's messed up other people's teeth before, so I really do feel the blame is on her if I am indeed suffering from mercury-induced problems. These events coincide with the onset of my fatigue, obsessive thoughts, inflamed joints, and swollen neck lymph nodes (among many other symptoms), all of which can be signs of micromercurialism (subacute mercury toxicity).
I wish more people would sue, if only to bring public attention to the issue. I say go for it! Also, does anyone know the process for obtaining dental records? Not that I want to do anything with them, I'm just curious to know exactly how many fillings I had and how many crumbled in my mouth...what a lovely thought.

Hi Tracii

I believe your dentist is required by law to keep your records, they should all be kept somewhere and all you need to do is ask the dentist for them. If they actually bothered to keep yr records is another thing! My dentist was bought out by someone else and all my records have disappeared. I do remember getting 8 amalgams in one sitting 9-10 years ago.

I wish I had the time and patience to sue someone, however I am too busy trying to get better, trying to keep my life together, which I believe is the most important thing for me right now.

Please tell me what, if anything happened with this. I'm very interested to know. Have been thinking of doing this kind of thing, myself, when I get to feeling better (hopefully).
