As some of you already know one thing I found out is that I have Pernicious Anemia, this means I will need B12 shots for the rest of my life. It is a very dangerous condition. I don't know if this has come on because of a thyroid condition or not yet. But having spoken to one of the nurses in the hospital, who seemed to know more than all the doctors put together, she told me that Pernicious Anemia and thyroid conditions unless treated properly are very dangerous conditions to have. I don't know if Mercury poisoning caused them or it's genetic or what, still have to find that out, but I suppose what I'm trying to say is I had no idea I had these things and who knows what's going on in our bodies. I don't want to scare people, we have enough to worry about, but if you can get some things tested and I know how difficult it is, it's probably wise. I hope I'm making sense, just worried in case anyone else could have something similar and not know. It's a minefield. Love and best wishes Tracy x

Why do you need injections for the rest of your life Tracy? Are they telling you that whatever damage you have will never heal?
Have you had any injections yet? If so, do they seem to be helping?

It is a life long condition that has to be controlled, like diabetes or something. It was picked p a couple of years ago at my other GPs and they started my B12 injections, then when we changed practices they stopped them. You have to have quite a lot to start with, then about every 3 months. People who don't absorb B12 have sommething called the Intrinsic factor missing, but it can also be caused by your thyroid going wrong. So I'm still not sure what is the cause, but like Dawn, if it is my Thyroid I will probably be on medication for that and B12 injections for the rest of my life. When I had them before I did start to feel better. Tracy

My father I think has a simliar problem Tracy. He is not absorbing B12 from his foods, yet he's absorbing the other vitamins as normal.
So he has to get B12 shots every so often.
I know what you mean kako in all B vitamins being required in certain amounts to work, but some people don't absorb B12, but do absorb the rest, so they need the B12 injection to keep up with the other vitamins.
My Father reckons it has helped him, he notices more energy.

Hi Tracy. I have pernicous anemia as well. I take 25mg of compounded methyl B 12 every week for a year, then get my levels checked and if they are good, get one shot a month probably for the rest of my life.
I originally was prescribed cyanocobalam from the regular pharmacy but found out aluminum is a preservative in it and I have high aluminum levels so I had it switched to the compounded methyl B12 with no preservative. It's helped with the tingly fingers and toes and has helped the fatigue some. I give myself the shots. I hope you start seeing some improvement, and there's no permanent damage done. Hugs, Veg

Thanks for the heads up on that ....interesting to know and be aware of just in case. You never know with the mercury poisoning what you might be looking at down the road. Keep us posted. Good Luck and my prayers for ya. Rachel

About the thyroid, Andy cutlers book mentions that mercuy attacks the thyroid in a big way, i read Hal Huggins book, recently, uninformed consent, theres a big article on how mercury affects the thyroid gland, it is probably the main thing affected,it causes, depression, numbness, anxiety, insomnia, etc, if people treated their thyroids, symptoms would be less, chelation would be easier. Vit B12 deficiency is extremley common,i take sublingual lozengers daily..

I think you are spot on Dawn. That's my plan, sort out the thyroid first and see what happens, and thanks for the tip about the milk thistle for liver, I'm taking it daily now. Love you Tracy xxxxx
